I stayed at four mid-range hotels on this trip, two in North Carolina and two in Virginia. This is by far the nicest of the four. The young woman at reception was exceedingly friendly (something I did not encounter at two of my other hotels). At check-in you are asked to sign a waiver that says essentially you will not have parties and if there is one complaint from another guest you are out. I assume this is because they are located near a college campus, but as a single traveler who values peace and quite, I appreciated this. Red Lobster is right next door, which I like. Other restaurants are close by but you would likely need to drive to them. My room had mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker. Sink is inside bathroom (which I like better than outside) and had huge amounts of counter space – more than just about any place I have stayed. There is a large work desk with both USB and standard plugs for charging. Decor is quite attractive with original fine art photos (closeups of leaves), which I appreciate since I am a photographer. My room did have a connecting door to the next room, a feature I don’t like, but it had a safety latch in addition to the dead bolt. No one was in the adjacent room so I am not sure if noise would be an issue. Overall a beautiful hotel and I would definitely stay here again.…
Our trip was one night in and out. Easy check in and check out. Room was clean, bed comfortable, wifi easy access. More of a variety of breakfast could have been better. Friendly face check in and check out.
Speedy check in. Excellent customer service. Updated rooms. Comfortable bed. Excellent size bathroom. Well lit parking lot and security guard at night. We felt safe and comfortable. Excellent place to stay. loved it!!!
Just stayed one night and room was clean, updated and comfortable. The A/C worked well. I would stay here again. I am not sure if the pool was open or not. It was convenient to SW Durham and a short drive to Chapel Hill. Restaurants and gas stations nearby as well. Also bowling!
This hotel location has been my family's go to spot for over 10 years. We will never stay at this location again due to the disrepair and multiple issues we had during our stay. COVID is no excuse for the following: 1. The two queen beds only had 2 pillow each. In the past the beds have had 4 pillows. This may not seem like a big deal, but when I asked why the change, the answer was that housekeeping had made this executive decision. Seriously? 2. The sink in the bathroom would not drain. 3. The toilet flush was not strong enough to flush any amount of toilet paper. Had to flush at least twice to have toilet paper go down and then usually bits of paper would float back into the toilet. 3. The hotel is non-smoking but our room smelled of smoke throughout our stay. When I complained, I was told that management would try to determine what guests were smoking in their rooms. We stayed for 4 nights. The smell lasted the entire time we were there. 4. The back door we were supposed to use to access the closest elevator to our room was never locked, despite a sign saying it was locked 24 hours a day. NOT SAFE. The smoking station was outside near that door and it was overflowing with cigarette butts. Two nights that we came back to hotel there were pickup trucks parked near that entrance with individuals hanging out smoking and also hanging out near the unlocked entrance. Unclear if they were guests of the hotel. 5. The elevator had a PUMP with hand sanitizer for guests to use, but the pump mechanism was FILTHY. No one in their right mind would use it. 6. The carpets in the hotel were not properly vacuumed -- very dirty with grit all over. It is a shame that the hotel is no longer properly maintained. We did not mind that our room could not be cleaned every day due to Covid, but we find it unacceptable that it doesn't appear that the cleaning/safety protocols are actually being followed to guarantee a safe stay.…
