I was in town this weekend for a concert at the Crown Center. I booked this hotel because of the price and location. I was nervous, but was so surprised! The hotel was literally across the street from the venue. The room was nothing fancy, but it was exceptionally clean, the beds and pillows were ultra comfortable. After we checked out this morning, my phone rang about three minutes later. It was the person who had checked me in. I had left a hoodie I purchased at the concert in the room. She wanted to tell me so I could be sure to come back and get it. I was so impressed. Most people would have just put it in the lost and found or taken it home. Sure, there is no continental breakfast or a pool, but they have spent money on things that matter in a hotel and hired nice, courtesy people. I will be back!!…
We had an unexpected layover in Fayetteville NC. We were driving from our home in Florida to our other home in RI. My 97 year old mom asked if she could come with us for the short time we spent in Florida. She is a very with it woman who still cooks and maintains her home. At a rest stop in Fayetteville I noticed she became very quiet and at times unresponsive. We called 911 and they transported her to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where she was diagnosed with having a mild stroke. We found the Mt Rose Hotel because it was the closest to the hospital and it was clean. That’s the best I can say about the place. It is no frills, no pool, no workout room, no laundry and no later check out. Five days after moms admission the doc told us they could no longer keep her because she was stable and doing well except for speech and eye and hand coordination. That same day I had paid cash for two more nights because the day before discharge that is what the doc told me they wanted, to keep her for observation. My husband immediately called the hotel to let them know we needed a room with two beds because mom was coming home and the owner said ok. Well, mom got discharged and we brought a very confused stroke victim to the hotel and were told they did not have a two bed room. I asked for my money back so I could find another hotel that could accommodate us and was told by a young woman “I can’t do that”. Over and over I begged her, I had her call the owner who took my cash that morning but she said that the owner wasn’t answering. I have never seen such incompassionate people! I stayed there a total of five nights and we were running out of money. We had not even checked in yet. I believe, out of the goodness of their hearts, they could have refunded my money so I could have made mom more comfortable in another hotel. They were not accommodating at all. By the way, we had to stay there because we could not drive mom home in our small car nor could she fly after this episode she had. The docs did not think it would be good for a stroke victim. My family back home had to rent a large RV, drive it down to NC and bring my mom and their grandmother home where she belongs. I am so glad that Fayetteville NC is in my rear view mirror!…
This was our second stay at Mt. Rose and as good as the first. We’ve found that in the Fayetteville area, most of the accommodations in this price range have terrible, frightening reviews. That’s not the case here. It’s spotless inside and out. Owners and staff are kind and helpful. Both times we stayed, we needed a clean, safe place to stay — once so we could catch an early flight. It’s not someplace with a pool or breakfast, but it does have comfortable beds, nice new-looking linens and carpet, coffee in the lobby, and the sweetest owners. It’s just a few minutes from the airport. The outdoor landscaping is attractive, the parking lot is tidy and well-maintained, and the lobby and hallways are as clean as the rooms. We’d stay there again in a heartbeat.
I rate this hotel a one star, because there’s no staff on duty from Midnight to 7 AM according to the sign that was on the front desk on May 29 when I left at 5 AM. I had given them my freezer blocks because there was no freezer in the refrigerator in the room and I carry insulin and I needed the freezer blocks to protect the insulin. The man who checked me and said he would be there all night. But when I left at 5am no one was there. There was a sign which stated they are not there from 12 AM TO 7 AM. I could not reprieve bye freezer blocks and had to drive home jeopardizing hundreds of dollars of insulin. They have an emergency number which I called That’s on the sign on the desk, but they never answered or responded. While I was there I guess showed up at 5 AM who has made a reservation, that was stuck because nobody could check him in. This is a dangerous situation not to have somebody available to help with any situation develops in the room. Hand very poor behavior when I called to get my freeze your blocks mailed back to me they refused to cooperate or even apologize. I would avoid this place for your own safety and help if needed.…
We just needed a place to sleep and shower overnight on our way home from Florida. This had good reviews and we were not disappointed. Very clean, seemed new, beds comfortable, price awesome! And the check in guy had a great sense of humor!
