Chose this hotel because we had stayed in a newer Wingate off Underwood Rd in Fletcher and thought this was the same one. It isn't and I'm not sure what happened. This location is directly across from the Asheville airport. Hotel is much older than the previous but is clean and quiet. Nice, large indoor pool that is unheated so we used the hot tub instead which was nice. Staff was friendly when you could find them; it appears they are running a skeleton crew because of COVID. My room was located directly above and overlooking the indoor pool. We thought we might have a noise and light problem because of this but the nighttime staff made sure the lights went out promptly at ten and no one was using the pool during our stay so it wasn't an issue. Nice patio area on the other side of the pool...we spent a lot of time here relaxing..furniture is nice and well maintained. Our main issues were we were not told until check in they place a $25 a day incidental hold on your debit card which is not released until after check out; actually a week after check out depending on your bank. This tied up $50 of our budget for the trip and meant we had to make adjustments to what we had planned to do while we were there. This should be a feature of the reservation process so you can plan ahead. Because of COVID restrictions, there is no regular breakfast offerings. We were aware of this but when we went downstairs the first morning, it was obvious we would not be able to have breakfast there. Sugary granola bars, Pop Tarts, sugar loaded pastries were the only things available. I had hoped there would at least be packets of oatmeal/grits and some fruit. This also cut into our budget because we had not planned to eat breakfast out. Everywhere you looked there were signs stating masks were required for everyone in the hotel. However, I only saw masks on those of us staying there, never on employees. Gallon jugs of hand sanitizer were in several areas in the lobby and there is a plexiglass screen at the desk so I guess the employees felt this was enough. Also, there is no daily room cleaning services, which was fine with me but I know some people prefer to have someone at least make their beds, change out towels. I'm glad there wasn't since the housekeeper also was not wearing a mask but the room was spotless and everywhere I went in the hotel I could tell housekeeping is excellent here. The grounds are well maintained but next to the hotel is an old restaurant that has been closed for awhile and those grounds are not kept up. Since it is literally across from the hotel as you drive up, it doesn't look good but this is not Wyndham's fault

We spent Friday 6/12 their in a King size guest suite on 2nd floor. Check in was easy. Our room appeared clean until we pulled out the sofa bed for our son and the linens hadn’t been changed and there was popcorn ALL inside the couch and bed itself. I had to strip the linens myself and walk to the front desk to ask for new. The manager on duty just apologized and handed over clean linens for me to fix it myself. I was disappointed to say the least.
Currently there is no breakfast served with Covid concerns which was fine. You are basically paying for a room to sleep in, nothing else.

Great experience. Jorge checked us in, and he was very pleasant. Our room was large and very clean, as others have noted. The bed was *exceptionally* comfortable. They have bathtubs, which we value, as they’re scarce in newer hotels.

Breakfast was varied and fresh - eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, waffles, fruit, yogurt and more.

The hotel is very quiet and well-maintained.

The pool and hot tub area is large and comfortable. Our room was on the second floor above it, and I could smell chlorine, but it was not bad at all.

Absolutely perfect stay. We will be back.

Awful experience and rude receptionist. We were denied our stay despite calling ahead of time. My friend booked our reservation for Saturday the 1st of August because I did not have internet access at the time of booking. After booking our reservation, my friend called the hotel to make sure that I could use my credit card and pay for the hotel room since I'm the only one above the age of 21. The lady told us that was okay and that she had written the note on our reservation.

I drove 5 hours from Frankfort, Kentucky and arrived at the hotel only to be told that we could not check in because the hotel does not allow locals to stay and my friend is from Hendersonville, NC. After I told the receptionist that I am not a local and that I drove 5 hours to get to this hotel, he continued to refer to me as a local and said he could not put the reservation under my name, despite the call we had made ahead of time to the hotel. He said that even if it was only me staying at the hotel, and not my friend, I still could not stay because he saw "hendersonville" on my friend's ID. No where when we were booking were we told anything about this hotel policy and regardless, we called ahead of time to ensure the reservation was okay and I am not a local and should not be treated like one.

I traveled for business and my company used this hotel . The young man who checked me in Friday said it is $25.00 a night for incidentals, no problem. My company accidentally made the reservation for Thursday - Saturday. Called my company they fixed it for Friday- Sunday . He charged me $50.00 for 2 nights . He asked d me to stop by Saturday before work just to make sure I didn't have to change room due to the 2 nd reservation to fix the 1st one made in error. While he was looking the manager stepped in pushed him to the side and said he only charged you $25.00
for one night and she needed the other $25.00, said no problem. Mind you we had a horrible experience due to ants in our room , food bags found under the bed, under chairs , rude employees except the shuttle driver. I called because when I got home they charged me $75.00 for incidentals and the manager said why are you worrying about a deposit, every hotel charges them , told her that is not the issue you overcharged me and you tried to cover it up by saying we only charged you for 2 nights , when I told her it is on my bank statement showing 3 nights, She said you stayed 3 nights said I did not I stayed only 2, she said your company booked you for Thursday, said yes that was a error and they corrected it . She kept saying I am the manager and you had to pay for that 3rd night regardless and you will get it in 3-5 business days asked for a emailed receipt of my reservation she refused . I am emailing American Airlines to advise them to never use this hotel . Extremely rude staff, nasty rooms, ants in room , horrible breakfast .

This place is an absolute dump. My boyfriend and I came here and the first room smelled like garbage and the second had what looked like food stains on the night stands. The front desk woman was so nice and apologetic. The manager just said that he apologized for us having to wait. Definitely a first and last time

I apologized for your wait as it took us a few minutes to get a new room assigned due to it being a full night in our hotel. Rest assured I took your issues seriously and even spoke with your BF yesterday to further address the issues during your stay. At no time did anyone mention food on a nightstand. They take absolutely no health or safety measures at this hotel. Only 1 guy at front desk wore a mask. The cleaning lady Blanca failed to wear a mask. Rob failed to wear a mask at checkin & in our room when we called for assistance for spider. The toilet had feces on it although Rob tried to tell us it was just rust.... rust doesn't splatter. Blanca nicely cleaned it up again with no mask. The headboards, phone with no cord, and alarm clock all have an inch of dust on them. Even after nasty toilet, spider, and dust; the air unit was even filthier. I reeked of must/ mold and the vent was so dirty. With all thats going on in the world this hotel drastically dropped the ball on sanitation and it is disturbing. Wish I could attach pictures. Refrigerator did not work. Breakfast had nice hot options. If they just thoroughly clean as they already should it could be a nice stay.

Not only were waiting over four hours to completely check in due to the front desk not knowing which rooms were occupied or empty and then the clerk disappearing for well over an hour in the middle of the process… our previous reservations were given away. We were given room keys to new rooms that were not the ones we reserved (We reserved a joining rooms and the keys that we initially got were for rooms on separate sides of the hotel) We walked in on not one but TWO families asleep which is a gigantic safety issue in a day and age that statistically speaking over half of American families have at least one concealed carry permit. We could have been shot, my children could have seem very inappropriate things. The safety, or lack there of, is an enormous issue at this property. And the front desk clerk Francisco that let this happen could’ve cared less. The assistant general manager didn’t really have much to say about the issue either. She only gave us a $25 discount for all of the pure hell that we had to endure. In the middle of check in the front desk clerk disappeared for over an hour and we could not find him anywhere inside or outside of the building . The front desk phone kept ringing nonstop and no one was there to answer it. My kids slept in the lobby for hours while we were trying to get this check in figured out. Finally got into rooms that were actually empty on diff floors and both rooms were overrun with black ants that I had the pleasure to bring home with me because I set my purse in the floor and two days later I still have ants crawling out of my pocketbook. The actual general manager was contacted by the legal team And customer satisfaction department that I had to find the number to on my own because the assistant GM refused to provide me with the information she said I could wait to call the general manager and speak with him and he would make sure the appropriate people knew what happened. Then we noticed we had been charged $650 for all of this nightmare and four hours of sleeping at the hotel!!!! I had to fight with Mrs. Campos to get the unauthorized charges removed from my account and even then was told it’d be 3-5 days before the charges fell off. After Tico the GM was contacted by the customer care and legal team from the report I had filed he called me to get my side of the story and said he was refundIng for my room but not my them who walked in on people and ants and the whole 9 yards. So waiting for legal to call me back!

We stayed two nights at the hotel. We were put in a nice room. We went to eat and came back and there was someone in another room in our end of the first floor that was smoking. They continued to smoke too.
I complained to the front desk and they said that all they could do was fine them $250 and move us to a different room. They moved us to a smaller room and did not make the people stop smoking. My allergies acted up and I had a minor asthma attack because of the smoking.
Hopefully they moved the other customers.
Upon checkout, I complained to the front desk clerk and she said that I should take comfort in the fact that the smokers were fined $250 for cleaning the smoked in room. I left perturbed and with my head aching from a sinus headache due to the smoke issue.

We had an illness in the family and had to go day-by-day with our stay at the hotel. The front desk clerk was very helpful in working with us as we changed our plans. The hotel was extremely clean, both public areas and our room. Covid rules were enforced and we had no problem with other people. The buffet was closed but breakfast was made up of individual wrapped servings of granola bars, yogurt, pastries, juice etc. The bed was comfortable and there was no noise from the airport which was right across the street. I would recommend this hotel.
