We just completed a stay at this hotel. It was exactly as advertised and the staff was very courteous/professional. We stayed in a room on the first floor. It seemed as if the rugs have been cleaned with a disinfectant that had a strong smell. Nothing to sleep over it. I bought a deodorizer in a nearby store and that was it.
Things to know: breakfast ends at 9am. It’s a small area across from the reception. It seems to include breads, cereal, oatmeal, eggs and turkey sausage. They also have yogurt, milk and bananas. There is a juice machine and coffee area.
The pool was not open to guests during this stay but it looked nice. There is an on-site laundry room that guests can use free of charge. Only need your own detergent. A small computer/printer area that guests can use is available. No issues with the hotel and we slept a very comfortable.
Lastly, room service is done every other day.
It was a good stay and hotel is directly across Waffle House & Cracker Barrel.

Annual stop for 4-6 nights. Staff turnover is evident but very friendly and professional. The maintenance man has been there for a long time and seems to be there morning, noon, and night. I do not know his name, but he speaks mostly Spanish. He is definitely a hard worker. The rooms are clean but there are no grab bars for the tub/shower. Though they may not be required, having them alleviates a safety issue for non-handicapped guests. The 2 issues I did have relate to parking and breakfast. Far too many parking spaces close to the building are being used for either construction vehicles, tow-behind trailers, and one guest who blocks 2 parking spaces so he can use them when he returns. This is unfair to guests who are forced to park farther away. Breakfast ends at 9:30am but is being shut down shortly after 9am.

Budget hotel located close to interstate and outskirts of a major city. Looking for value here instead of luxury and this hotel was fine.
Located about 20 min outside of Charlotte and 10 min from the airport, the hotel is very convenient. Not a tall hotel with a view, plenty of parking, and the area has a few fast food restaurants (but nothing special from a dining standpoint). Felt perfectly safe staying here as well.
Check-in was easy, there's a decent size sitting area (due to the free breakfast), and rooms were nicely sized. Some updating could always be used, but nothing was broken or excessively worn. Bathroom was a decent size, internet worked well.
Breakfast was decent - a few hot items and cold items. Enough to get you going for the day.

From the moment I arrived at the Fairfield Inn in Gastonia, I received wonderful service from Nicole Bolt, Director of Sales. My goal was to see the famous Christmas lights in McAdenville, North Carolina. Coming from the Charlotte area, Nicole is very knowledgeable about the region, and she helped prepare me with facts that made my trip to McAdenville that much more meaningful. Nicole helped me download Uber on my cell phone, and she provided spot on directions on what route to take and where to park in McAdenville so that the throng of cars and visitors could be avoided. Polite, knowledgeable, friendly, and mature, Nicole is a wonderful ambassador for the Fairfield Inn in Gastonia, North Carolina.
In addition, I would like to thank Jose who works at this Fairfield Inn. He took a keen interest in helping me when I misplaced my car keys and went out of his way to check the lost and found. Jose is such a gentleman. He carried my luggage to my car when my poodle and I prepared to depart. Thank you both for making my Christmas holiday a memorable experience!

Awful experience. Check-in took 45 minutes? “We don’t go by confirmation numbers.” What? I was given the wrong room. Then told they would not give me the correct room. It took a phone call to sales or someone and another 15 minutes to get the correct room.
The hotel is not clean at all and in desperate need of repair. We’ve squashed five cockroaches—so far. TVs in our rooms don’t work. Response from the front desk “nothin’ we can do.” More like nothing they care to do.
Poor attitudes. Poor service. It’s hard to believe we are actually paying to stay here. The front desk’s attitude seems to imply that they are doing us a favor.
Are the beds really queen beds? Seem awfully small. Three of our athletes have already left the hotel to stay with parents. Disgusted with the conditions

I booked one night to attend a wedding. I chose the Fairfield Inn because of Mariott's reputation for excellent service and accommodations. Unfortunately, this location did not live up to that reputation. I chose a single Queen room thinking it would give my husband and I a little extra room. Nope. These rooms are positioned right next to the elevator so the elevator shaft takes up most of the room. One of the smallest rooms I've ever stayed in. The desk clerk was not very helpful nor friendly. Choosing to speak with the maintenance/landscaping staff member than check us in. There was not a luggage valet in the room, so our luggage took up what little floor space was available. Maybe this sound spetty - but we had shampoo and lotion but no conditioner. I had to go to the check in desk to ask for conditioner. Breakfast was adequate, All in all, I would not stay here again and it will make me think again about staying at any Fairfield Inn locations.

Initial impression was awesome as the front desk agent , Char, was exceptional. True southern hospitality and appreciation of Bonvoy program loyalty. Offered plan upgrade without me having to ask!
The problem I had with this property is in no way the fault of personnel.
Upon entering the room I immediately realized this property was a smoking hotel in the past. The room reeked and was almost unbearable!! I used a large can of Kysol but did not help. Marriott needs to completely refurbish A coat of paint and a new shower curtain will not remove years of cigarette smoke. It was in the ac unit, carpet, drywall.....everywhere!! Get it together Marriott. I will go elsewhere if I am ever in this area again.

This was one of the worst Fairfield Inns we have stayed in - and we have stayed in many. Upon arriving, the Reception staff barely acknowledged us as they were checking us in. There was no 'We;come'or 'Thank-you for being a Diamong Member'...they handed us the key card and we went on our way. The condition of the room was more on par with a Motel 6 than a Fairfield Inn. The room was smaller than usual, the furniture was worn and the paint scuffed up. Breakfast the next morning was pitiful. The bananas were so green you couldn't peel them. They ran out of coffee and oatmeal by 7:30am. Yes, there were other guests, but it certainly wasn't mobbed. When we went to check-out, there was no one to be found near Reception. I went to the breakfast area only to be told the Reception person had gone to the store to get some more oatmeal. If this had been my first time at a Fairfield Inn, Marriott would have lost me as a customer. Foretunately, I know this was the exception, not the rule.
