We arrived at this truly unique Inn at around 5.30, just as they were hosting a CHamber of Commerce event. We were welcomed as long lost friends, even when they found out we WEREN'T anything to do with the Chamber of Commerce and were told to check in at the bar. At the bar, things were humming. Not surprisingly...there was... More

After celebrating our anniversaries here for dinner for many years, we got to experience the River House more fully. We enjoyed the entire Inn with family and close friends for our daughter's dream wedding! Gayle's assistance with planning and follow-through from rehearsal dinner to reception in the Tobacco Barn was just what was needed and hoped for. Gayle and her... More

Love this place. The welcoming atmosphere; the front porch with rockers; the friendly and warm host Gayle; the food - breakfast, or course, and dinner, if you choose; the quiet; the river right under your nose; the coffee by your door in the morning. This lovely country inn is on my list of favorites.

I would love to say that we had a lovely time and the food was great and that I would return. But I can;t. I will say that the setting is very picturesque and we had high hopes when we arrived for the Sunday Dinner. For the record this is a prix fixe 5 course dinner - and I had... More

We love this restaurant and brought our adult daughter here for her birthday. Service was superb and my wife and daughter ordered the filet, I had the scallops. My wife's filet had a gristle in it that made it inedible. We called it to our servers attention and Gail came to our table and offered a replacement . Since my... More

It is not very often when you find such warm genuine hospitality like what Gayle has to offer so naturally. My husband and I made a quick escape from our crazy lives to the north fork of the New River on a recent Sunday. I have sent many folks here, but have never stayed myself. Well, this won't be the... Every room is unique but wonderfully decorated. There are large wonderful spa tubs in the rooms. The entire area is very peaceful. The food is incredible at breakfast and dinner, and staff is very gracious. This is a wonderful place to relax.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Riverhouse in November, while attending a basketball game at Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, VA which was only about 10min away. I was blown away by this hidden gem in Ashe County, NC and by the innkeeper, Gayle Winston and her friend John Stewart. Such incredibly sincere, warm & welcoming people... More

We loved it here. Beautiful river area, quirky rooms with everything you need, a jacuzzi to relax in, and delicious breakfast in the morning. Loved the French toast. We hope to have our wedding here in the future! We stayed in the weigh station! It was small but it was all we needed, can't wait to come back! Also, it... More
