I am very puzzled by the popularity of this resort. The photos online do not do it justice! The rooms are old and in bad need of updating. The bed was so horrible, it was like sleeping on a bale of hay. Carpet was old & room had a musty smell. The shower was nice that’s the only good thing I can say.
This hotel had mixed reviews when I started looking for hotels in Hendersonville NC. I have always been very satisfied with the Choice brand of hotels, but this one needs ALOT of TLC. Very sparse continental brkfst, lobby and hallways kept too warm for August weather, had to redo my room keys every time I left and tried to re-enter. The decor was late 1970's early 80's, and as long as it was clean, that wouldn't bother me. BUT when I got to my room, I could see the sheets were fresh and clean, but they had rips and tears in them from so many washings, and there was a 1/2 pot of old coffee still in the coffee carafe...the A/C unit was noisy. I never got to the bar or restaurant, since their hours did not suit my schedule...I never saw a cleaning person, or staff member other than the person manning the front desk. It wouldn't take much effort to get this property up to par, but I won't stay here again The high reviews are very misleading…
Kathy Knight helped me through the whole process and the result was phenomenal. We had started with a plated lunch with entree choices for 30 - 40 people. I was at 50 people and Kathy & I had to regroup and go with a buffet. We remained with our three entrees and everything went beautifully. I had nothing but raves about the food. The location has plenty of parking and easy access - no stairs. We even had out of town guests who stayed at the resort at a reduced rate. I would strongly recommend the Cascades.
We spent one night here in July 2021. A king suite room. Sure, the place is dated. It needs everything to be replaced to bring it up to today’s standards. But it’s still not bad. If you’re looking for a four-star hotel this is definitely not it. Yes, the mattresses are rather firm. Yes, housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired. My suggestion would be to bring some cleaning supplies with you and take care of the trouble spots yourself. Two years ago, I started carrying bathroom cleaner with me. I also bring my own handheld shower and change out the showerhead everywhere I go so I have ample water pressure and I can rinse down the shower and the tub after I clean it. The room we stayed in had a fair amount of dust on the horizontal surfaces, which I cleaned with one of their towels dampened. I also wiped down the tile around the sink and in the bathroom. I even went so far as to clean off the pictures and the lampshades which had not been cleaned in a while. The bathroom sink and the porcelain tub and the tub surround were all clean with Clorox cleanup and nothing was on them. The rinse water was clear. The bedding was clean. The carpet in this room could stand to be re-stretched. It also could use a good deep cleaning. The bathroom towels are a little small for somebody that is 6’3” and 260lbs. It felt like I was drying off with a hand towel. They are also rather rough. The provided shampoo, lotion, and conditioner are all made in China, so they immediately went in the garbage. All this being said, my wife and I will return. It did take a while to get the room cooled off. I also carry a pedestal fan with me when I travel. I guess I’m going to add painters tape to that list so I can tape the curtains by the door shut. I will also buy a mattress topper and a fitted king size sheet with deep pockets. I don’t know about the restaurants because we did not either. The fitness center is closed and the arcade is gone. Thank you Whu flu. Paying more than $125 a night here is too much for what they offer. But for a quickie get away that’s not that far from home and instead of going to dirty Myrtle or Cherokee, this is a good option for me. We did not even turn on the televisions. We also carry our own pillows too.…
No AC in lobby, no handicapped accessible bathroom, would not let me in the room slightly early, had to sit in hot lobby, no elevator, no AC on in room—July, 88 degrees!! Indoor pool off lobby. Fell over coffee table in dark room!! Not guest friendly, not handicapped friendly, & poor management!
