Staying two nights in Highlands at this secluded yet convenient bed and breakfast was a real treat for my husband this weekend. The inn is at most a 25 minute walk from downtown. Donna and Chris were friendly and attentive hosts and were very helpful with suggestions. We were in the nicely decorated, well appointed Harris Room on the second... More

Donna and Chris have a great experience waiting for all their guests. Their bed and breakfast is exceptionally located blocks from Main Street but tucked back in a beautiful, wooded and secluded setting. Every room puts you in a relaxed frame of mind fitting for being in the woods of North Carolina. But Donna and Chris' warmth and kindness and... More

As soon as we step into the Colonial Pines Inn in Highlands, NC my blood pressure drops 20 points. We feel as if we are visiting some old friends who make us feel at home. The Germans have a phrase called "gemutlichkeit" which perfectly described the comfortableness that we feel here. The warm coziness of the inn invites us to... More

Our first time at Colonial Pines Inn in Highlands was wonderful. We stayed in the Bargain Basement king room which was off to the side of the main B&B. To us it was perfect because it had it's own parking spot and privacy as well as comfortable inside even though it's one of the smaller rooms they have. For the... More

Overall a wonderful bed & breakfast with one little quirk. Breakfast is served at 9:30. That's pretty late for us and made other meals a challenge. We weren't ready for lunch at noon and ended up eating a late lunch/early dinner at 3-4pm. And then skipped dinner but had a snack, sort of, at 8:00ish. In fairness, they do have... More

We just returned from our stay at Colonial Pines. What a beautiful Inn! The location was just far enough from Main St. to be calm and peaceful, yet convenient. Honestly, I have never seen a more pristine facility. It looked freshly painted and immaculate in every way. We loved being in the separate building next to the Inn! We aren't... More

This was our third time at Colonial Pines. Accommodations are excellent and the Owner's are very friendly. Breakfast has always been "top-notch" and they are very up-to-date on what's going on in the Highlands area. Inn is convenient to downtown but quiet. Our best-find recommendation! We have been visiting Highlands for over thirty years and this is the best overall... More

We went to Colonial Pines for an early birthday/anniversary weekend. We try to always stay in B&B. First the Inn is beautiful. We chose the Harris Room. You open the windows and sleep in comfort I love the antique Asian Writing desk in our room. I promise no air conditioning needed. Private Bath, Great open living room/dining combination but, we... I simply cannot recommend this wonderful B&B highly enough! From the lovely wrap around porch, to the cosy lounge and breakfast area to the charming guest rooms, all is perfection. And then to boot, we were thoroughly spoiled by our hosts, Chris and Donna, who could not have been more attentive to our every need. The breakfasts were so much... More

This was our first trip to the Highlands and Colonial Pines was chosen for us as by a relative. We've stayed in a number of B&B's over the years but Colonial Pines truly fit our "vision" of what a B&B would be like. We stayed in Room 1; which is on the main floor (and I believe the only room...
