Wow, a tough one to rate! 5 for value! 5 for location! 2 for decor! 5 for hospitality....and just overall relaxing experience. The place is really a motel dressed up as a hotel, but, but, but ... the drive up is spectacular and the setting is divine. Pool is very good. Parking is very good. Tennis courts and trails on...

Well sir ,,thank you vey much for your 4 star rating and kind constructive advice . You seem to have missed the experience and ambiance we are striving for --we do not want to be another cookie-cutter hotel/motel .We are dated and very much so on purpose .This olde property was designed circa 1929 in the Frank Lloyd Wright tradition...

My room was on the second floor with a beautiful gorge view (I heard the first floor can be a little moldy). I slept with the balcony door open, it is so peaceful. All I could hear were the trees and the stream at night. In the morning the birds chirping wake you. The food pricy but outstanding. I had...

Thank you Kathryn for your comments and recommendations. We used to have problems downstairs until we ripped open the walls and reinsulated .In the crawl space ,underneath the property ,we put in industrial fans to keep the air circulating .The most important news to visitors is that this area is deemed a natural rain forest and so things can be...

We were in Highlands for Mother's Day Weekend which is a favorite gift destination for Mom. We were there for a trade show in Franklin, but always stay in Highlands and drive down for the show. Once again Skyline Lodge came through with the best rate and a very nice room! This was our first chance to stay in the...

We had the pleasure of staying here for 2 nights. It's located just a few miles from Highlands and is an easy drive. We stayed in a FLW room. We weren't aware that most of the rooms don't have A/C but that was ok since we were able to open the door to the porch to get some air. Also...

Thank you for taking the time to comment on Skyline . We don't think of Skyline as "outdated" , this grande olde lady is retro vintage with a lot of olde school charm . LOL We never hope to be a cookie-cutter chain hotel. We all enjoyed meeting you and look forward to your return soon ..happy trails to you...

We only stayed one night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Food, staff, grounds, bar, all come together for a total mountain lodge experience and the restaurant was wonderful! Don't miss their three cheese grits and Shrimp on the breakfast menu or the desserts at dinner.

The website looks very nice. The hotel looks beautifully situated in the mountains Highlands North Carolina. The room had a spectacular view of the small gorge. Now here are the bad the hotel is very dated. The carpet was held on the floor on the steps with tape. The mattress was extremely hard. The website promoted that breakfast is included....

This is one of the few places I've stayed that surpassed my expectations based on the website photos. Don't get me wrong - it is definitely old-school, sort of early 60s style, and not high end, but we enjoyed the quirky charm. And the more we looked around, the more impressed I was. The room was quite comfortable, with a...

Skyline has always been our favorite place to stay when visiting Highlands. It's perfect for us when we are there on business.
