This place was all I was hoping for and more. The property is simply gorgeous. So many beautiful plants and tons of farm animals. The meals are home cooked and healthy. The hibiscus wine is delicious and as far as I could tell, no hangovers! Maddy is a fountain of useful knowledge and a great hostess and life motivator. I...

If you're looking for glitz and glamour, you can stop reading. However, if you're looking for a fun authentic experience with great home cooked food, handmade wine, and a great host(s)(Maddy and the dogs, haha), then this is the place for you!

Wow. Very cool. So happy to have heard from Kristina. Truely made me smile to read her posting since Kristina didn't seem like the type to be chatting up on socical media (seemed like a private person - kept a low profile). Cheers Kristina. Until we meet again and thanks for the positive vibes.....the dogs say farewell too!

We had a wonderful time staying at Lower Dover. We were glad that we had a car for the convenience and freedom of getting around the area. Maddy gave us a tour of the grounds and was very knowledgeable about both the ruins and the plant life. We learned a lot during our stay here. The location was easy to...

Paradise - STAY HERE! :) We came for one night and stayed four... truly enchanting. 1. Like an expensive lodge - beautiful surroundings 2. MADDIE! She (and the other ladies) are so generous & fun, going well beyond the call of duty. I once saw her give a massive discount to guests because of a booking mistake that was DEFINITELY...

We're two Canadian moms and this was our getaway. We stayed for 5 nights. The cabins are rustic, but clean. Blankets and duvets were provided, it was nice because it gets quite cold at night. They have outdoor hot shower stalls. The individual showers next to each cabin use collected rainwater, it's cool but so nice!! The water out of...

My husband and I booked four nights at Lower Dover and looking back, wished we had booked more. This was easily our favorite stay. The beds were comfortable, there are the al fresco showers outside each room, as well as a separate outdoor shower area outside with warm water. There is something unique about a warm shower in the morning...

I just stayed with Maddie and Bill for 3 days. The only complaint I have is that I couldn't stay another night. I had a single room at the back. The bed was very comfortable and I had my own bathroom (sink and toilet). There was a fan in my room and it was nice to have on during the...

Booked two nights and stayed longer. Nice little place in the jungle with a large property good to just wander around some uncovered Mayan ruins and catch some wildlife. Be prepared to wake up at dawn with the sounds of nature or use earplugs. Maddy is extremely helpful and can assist you organizing activities and transportation. The location and surroundings...

When I tried to book a stay at Lower Dover everything seemed to be OK. Until I let know that I wasn't going to have the meals over there because of dietary reasons (which are not the easiest, but my problem and not theirs). Then Maddy said I should find another place because the kitchen wasn't available whole day. I...

This extended stay - prospective guest had a rare medical condition. She needed lots of cold storage in order to meet her unique dietary requirements. Lower Dover has limited refrigeration that is shared amongst all guests. As such, we did not feel we could accommodate her needs adequately. Therefore, with sufficient lead time, I suggested she seek accommodation elsewhere. We...

My wife and I stayed in the aqua cabin at lowerdover. It was my first time in a different country and I was nervous to say the least. Maddie, the owner, was incredibly comforting, kind, entertaining, and accommodating. She had the best advice for going through the ruins and museums, restaurants, and how to do it on a budget. Speaking of...
