Found this place the best way, word of mouth from fellow backpackers. Spent two nights and did a day trip to ATM cave, arranged by Justin. He even loaned me a pair of sneakers for the caving. Great meals, nice quiet spot, my cabin backed onto the jungle, that's all I heard. The night sky was amazing, with no light...

I loved staying with Maddy and her family. The lodge is conveniently located just a short walk from the highway / bus stop (though we rarely had to make it because Maddy was insistent on taking us to the road and picking us up whenever possible). This easily allowed us to hop on the bus line and visit nearby attractions....

Wonderful wonderful wonderful! Comfortable, clean rooms with showers and fans - AC seriously NOT necessary. Very hearty breakfast everyday: coffee, tea, fresh squeezed juice, eggs, meat, bread, jam and fresh fruits. Dinners are well worth the cost, hearty and copious, and are served in the common dining room - giving guests the opportunity to get to know each other. The...

We stayed here for two nights last week and had a blast! The cabanas are located in the jungle and you'll be able to see all kinds of wildlife during your stay (amazing). Justin, our host, took us and another couple on a little morning tour around the ruins on their property, explaining things as he went, which was really...

Stayed at Lower Dover for 2 nights in one of the cabanas. Truly a unique experience. Not only do they have trails for hiking, but their own mayan ruins & rivers with waterfalls. We ate breakfast with them one morning & dinner with them both nights. The food was excellent, especially the barbequed chicken. Justin was very informative & helpful....

My friend and I had a lovely stay at Lower Dover in May 2013. Lower Dover is the perfect location if you are planning on visiting the ruins and ATM. It was so peaceful and beautiful at Lower Dover. Maddy and her family were such wonderful hosts. I enjoyed learning about the different plants on the property and visiting the...

I have just spent the last 3 nights with Madeline and her family at Lower Dover and I really am not kidding when I say that this is one special place. As a young girl travelling alone this was exactly what I needed. Madeline, or Aunty Maddy, picked me up from the bus station and drove me in to this...

We stayed at the Lower Dover for one night in August 2013. The lodge is run by a very friendly and energetic US-lady. We got served delicious and healthy food (mostly vegetables and fruits from the region). It was absolutely clean. It is also possible to play billiard and to have some drinks. It was such a special experience because...

A stop-over at the Lower Dover is a must when you are in Belize. The property has a lot to offer and its proximity to the ATM cave is a definite plus. During our short stay we enjoyed many wonderful amenities: a clean and comfortable bunk house with an indoor bathroom, a delicious meal, free drinking water, the forest and...

My experience at Lower Dover was wonderful. Maddy is a amazing lady and she thought of every comfort you would require and supplied it simply and efficiently. I stayed in the dorms and they were well set up. I would recommend this to anyone travelling to San Ignacio and the ATM caves. Additionally, we were completely spoiled regarding food. For...
