This hotel is very well located with a direct access to the beach . But ! The wall are like in paper so you can ear your neighbours snoring and if you are on the ground floor like us you have the noise of the people upstairs...... we spend 3 night there and don’t sleep too much ! I will not come back there
Do you like unidentifiable stains on the bedspreads and waking up feeling like someone beat you in your sleep? Then do I have the place for you. As soon as we walked in to our room we could see multiple stains on the bedspreads. The beds were so hard I'm pretty sure I would have been better off sleeping on a park bench. Then there was the overwhelming smell of smoke in our non-smoking room that nearly choked us up. We ended up leaving a day early so we didn't have to stay another night in those awful beds. The only thing this property had going for it was the ocean was super close and we could see it from our window.
Walls are really thin, you can see daylight all around room door. You could hear all your neighbors and whoever was walking down hall. Bathrooms were in need of renovation due to worn fixtures. Towels were stained and falling apart.
We have been staying here for years and it was mostly as expected. Due to Covid the grab and go breakfast was adequate but not very exciting. Fresh coffee was not always available in the mornings based on the whim of the desk person on duty. Rooms, beds, and pillows are in need of updates but were basically comfortable for 2 senior adults. We like the location and the ambiance of sitting outside our room right by the dunes.
Before I state why I don't recommend this hotel, I would like to say that the front desk staff was very polite and accommodating. The issues that I have with this place is not their fault. My daughter and I stayed in one of the dune front rooms on the first floor. The room is convenient to the beach; however, the air condition unit was not reliable. It turned off and on throughout the evening and it was very loud when it would turn on. The temperature never really got cool enough to be comfortable. The walls are thin and we could hear the TVs from other rooms, people outside of our door. Whenever someone would open and shut a room door, it was extremely loud. Housekeeping started cleaning rooms before 9:00am and woke us up. There is a downstairs hallway that's very noisy in the mornings as well. This would not be a place to go if you want to relax and possibly sleep later than 8:30am. Perhaps the 2nd floor would have been a better choice. Yes, this place is cheap and as the saying goes, you get what you pay for, but I would not recommend this place or any hotel near Kill Devil Hills or Nags Head. Rental houses or condos are the best way to go if you want to stay in the Outer Banks.…
