It was okay, but not a very comfortable room. We arrived later in evening and were looking for a location near the beach. This would have to do, so we settled in and looked for easy dining. The room was reasonably priced, but the bed was very uncomfortable as was the tiny bathroom. We decided not to do another night and look for more restful surroundings in the same area.
We loved the room and the view. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. The rooms have been nicely renovated. Staff very nice and parking is convenient. Close to great restaurants. The picture is the view from our room. Would stay again!
We have rented a room at this location every year when we check out of our house for one more peaceful day on the beach before the long trip back home. Since last year, they have renovated (very nice and updated the rooms) however they doubled the rate, added a kiosk in the lobby to check in and check out that takes you to an agent working from home somewhere. We have always been able to check in early but this year our in laws traveling with dogs were waiting on the beach with their puppies until after check in time. Room was updated but not well cleaned when we checked in. We unfortunately will not be staying there again with the double cost and no customer service. Sad. Great Location.
Stayed here 4 nights while visiting Kill Devil Hill. This is an older, "mom and pop" type property, and not a luxury hotel by any means. All the rooms have been renovated however and are very clean and functional. We rented an oceanfront efficiency. The door opened directly out to the beach and was very convenient for quick beach access. The beds appeared to be new and were comfortable. All of the staff members were very friendly and courteous, especially our housekeeper, (I don't remember her name) who was very friendly and did a great job supplying clean towels daily and keeping our room clean. As is typical with older buildings, there didn't seem to be any sound insulation in the ceilings and for the first day, we had inconsiderate guests above us that allowed their kids to run and jump unchecked . Book a second floor room if possible, because if you have anyone above, you'll hear every footstep. Other than that, our inside lock was a bit sticky and hard to operate, and there were a few outside lights that were burned out. All in all though, it was a pretty good place to stay and would probably stay here again.…
This is an older motor lodge right on the beach. It was very nice to be able to walk out to the beach easily. The staff here are very pleasant and helpful. We had a pool-facing room. It was clean, but small & dark, and the mattress was very soft--- we kept rolling into the center. The bathroom was bright & clean, and a nice size. Towel rack and shelves would be helpful. I agree with the reviewer who said they thought this could be Great --- if it were renovated.
great location and friendly staff. That is where the positives end. The room was in awful condition. Dark and moldy. Exposed wiring hanging out behind the fridge, counter held together with duct tape. We made good use of the fly swatter in the room. Could be a great hotel if some serious reno work was done to the rooms.
My grandson and I stayed for a night. Our room faced the beach so it was nice to sit outside and watch the sunrise. Only issue were the smokers and butt cans outside the rooms. That was the major downside of our stay. It is an older hotel but maintained well enough. The room was comfortable. Howie at the desk was very friendly. Needs a paved parking lot.
This is a hidden mom and pop older style gem. Old school were they wash the sheets and everything. I got the ocean view and at first my wife was not sure. We go to Geneva on the lake in Ohio and a lot of those hotels are not anything to brag up for sure but this was. It was huge. 3 queen beds one in a separate room a kitchen and 2 TVs and a back yard ocean. I will beg for this room again.
We had stayed here in 2013 with our first golden, Lady Emma. We had the opportunity to go to Ocracoke this year and wanted to spend a day exploring the other other places on the OBX, so we stayed here again. The staff was really nice and helpful. They recommended excellent restaurants and were kind to our new golden, Clarence. This room was very nice, spacious, and very, very clean. My only complaint would be the location of the pet friendly rooms. It was directly behind the office, and I do mean directly behind. I'm guessing they were there in case people left their pets alone and they started causing a ruckus, they would know about it. I just found it a bit dark. I would highly recommend staying here and also to take their recommendations for dinner and breakfast.…
We came down for a quick one night visit for our birthdays and it was amazing! This was the first time we had stayed at this hotel but not our first visit to obx. We got there around 1130 and they gave us a parking pass early so that we could go to the beach and use the pool. We also asked if there was any way we could check in early and they were very accommodating and had our room ready by 12:30! The staff was very friendly and you could tell they wanted to make sure we had an excellent visit. I have stayed at a lot of places down at obx and this place tops the list of favorite places. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you for an amazing weekend!
