Great staff. Comforable beds.....However it needs a face lift bad. Carpets are worn and shower heads need replacing. Light didn't work. But worst of all ac did not operate and we were trying to get ready for a wedding. They had to replace the unit. No other rooms available! Didn't even offer us a discount, voucher, or to vaccum our room. I would stay away.
Please be aware that this is pet friendly hotel. You will hear barking dogs at times and see pet hair on the first level. Be mindful of other dogs in the building and pick up after your dog. You need to ask for towels or any other services. The room service is available upon request.
This was the 2nd time my wife and I stayed at this Travelodge with our pet. The room was clean and well appointed. Reasonably priced for early September. The mattress could be updated. Very lumpy. The pool was sparkling clear and clean although I would have preferred it to be smoke free which it wasn't. Overall, a great stay at the Outer Banks.
Staff were pretty nice and the rooms were decent but there were some stuff going on we didn't like ! Things like the phone didn't work so you couldn't call the front desk ! The shower curtain bracket was missing some screws so the curtain would just sag toward the middle then the floor would get wet ! Any used towels or washcloths were supposed to be thrown in a pile out in the hallway for the cleaning crew ! For what we paid for our stay it could have been MUCH better !! Can't say I'd stay here again !!
I brought my family the week of July 4th and we had a great time. The location is great! A very short walk to the beach and we were able to see fireworks from our room. The room was clean and had no problems except there was some signs of water damage on the wall above the shower head from an apparent leak at some point. I'm a little aggravated that so many hotels continue to use covid as an excuse to not offer breakfast but honestly most hotel breakfast offerings are mediocre at best so I'm trying not to hold that against them. Overall we will definitely come back, I just hope that eventually all hotels will get back to offering breakfast and I'd like to see daily room service come back without having to ask for it a day in advance.
The pool was disgustingly cloudy with chunks of hair and who knows what else. If you sit on the balcony you’ll get secondhand high. It seems like a lot of locals know how to get through the gate to the pool.
We have been staying at the Nags Head Beach Hotel off and on for the last 11 years and this past week was the worst experience we’ve ever had. The Pool was dirty with sand, debris, bottle tops, and filth from day one, and the deck of the pool was littered with cigarette butts, aluminum cans, trash, and dirty towels. After I and another guest complained about the appearance of this COMMON AREA; it was addressed...we were told the pool could not be cleaned the day before because there were other issues in the hotel that they were addressing and fixing at the time. This was on the second day of our stay. However, the pool was dirty again with cigarette butts, sand, and clumps of hair and such all week long...in this age of Covid; a swimming pool needs chemicals added a good cleaning daily to keep all guests safe. There was a pull rod missing on one of the curtains in our room, so my husband had to yank it back-and-forth all week long to open and close it so that we could access the deck…such a simple fix but why was it missing? One of the exit doors at the bottom of the steps was tagged “do not use” and that seems like a safety hazard in the event that the building needs to be evacuated for an emergency...especially if the main entrance were to become blocked as it would then leave only one way out of the building. There was also a young man weed eating on the premises and he was going in between cars and very close to them, so if a rock or something else had hit one of the parked vehicles damages would have ensued. Thankfully my car was not parked in this area, but vehicles are expensive. Lastly, as we were heading out to dinner yesterday evening there was throw up in one of the elevators, and we just happened to see a Travelodge worker and notified her. We don’t know how long it had been in there, or if anyone had told the front desk about it, but that was both unsanitary and disgusting. When we came back two hours later; the elevator had been cleaned, but the elevator still smelled very bad. I will say that our room was very clean as usual and as it has always been. We are Wyndham Rewards members, and for the price we paid to stay at this Travelodge we expected far more. My first inclination was to check out of the hotel early, but there is a sign posted that once we check in we cannot get a refund, and that is wrong on so many levels. The sub-standards we were privy to this week should never be the ”norm” for any hotel, and it definitely did mot meet the 99% sanitation rating currently posted at your front desk. We have given you stellar reviews in the past but we can’t this time...no apologies!!…
If you have a lot of trash it appears the protocol is to put it into the trashcan until it overflows and then just tie the bag off and put it in the hallway - for days on end. No one will come clean that hall. Trash multiplies everywhere. No one will vacuum the carpets either. Wear socks in your room - floors are all dirty.
We were there for a quick trip it was very nice. When we arrived our room wasn’t ready we did arrive early but the hotel very accommodating let us go on and use the pool and called us just as soon as it was ready. The rooms were a little small but very clean. I would definitely stay there again.
we may be back if they can get better breakfast arrangements. Other than that it was a nice stay for a 3 day 2 night mini vacay. Too bad it rained the whole second day. What a bummer. Still close to the Wright Bros memorial so we made do!
