The Lodge On Lake Lure is the preeminent lodging option for the town that Southern Living Magazine recently proclaimed as the "Best Lake Town" in the South. Renovated in 2022 with a goal of keeping a classy and upscale charm while also making sure the comforts we all desire when traveling are in every facet of the property, the Lodge provides sweeping views of the lake and mountains that will leave you breathless. The Lodge also houses Appalachia Restaurant - a fine casual dining and bar open to the public that will be sure to satisfy. Built nearly 100 years ago, The Lodge On Lake Lure was originally used as a retreat for the North Carolina State Highway Patrol but now can be your home away from home as you escape to the lake.

We were able to come and stay for a few nights at the lodge on Lake Lure. An amazing treat in every way. Our room was situated on the lower level and faced the lake. We had a back porch all to ourselves while we were there and basked in the beauty and the quiet. My friend and I sat in the quiet beauty of the lake and recharged from the business of life. Our room was equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay including wi-fi, a large flat screen tv, mini fridge and an enormous and beautiful bathroom. The bathroom in our room had a walk in shower and a claw foot bath tub for soaking. Every room is slightly different giving you a unique stay each time you visit. All host a gorgeous view of the lake. The restaurant on site was delicious and then offer a continental breakfast each morning. I can’t say enough about the attention to detail given by the owners of this lodge. I wish I could stay a month, but I will absolutely be back! Thank you for the amazing stay!

What an amazing place and gluten friendly!!! We picked the Lodge based on reviews and the need to find a quick overnight stop and relax for a night after our flight into Charlotte from New England. Although we booked the "overnight room" which is downstairs, when we arrived we were happy to discover that since it was during the week and the Lodge was quiet, we were moved to a similar room but on the main floor, so we could skip the stairs with our luggage. And this one night stay gets better -- the views are spectacular, our dinner at the Appalachia Restaurant outstanding, all service impeccable, rooms perfectly appointed in updated cabin theme, and morning coffee was full of flavor, plentiful and hot!
When planning this overnight at the Lodge, as a traveler with Celiac, I am always very concerned about continental breakfasts which are typically "carb" heavy. So I sent staff an email prior to my arrival and was I excited that staff went above and beyond to make sure that there were several different gluten free options available, including a bowl of fresh blueberries for the yogurt! After breakfast, it was difficult to leave, so we spent a long time lingering with our coffee, delaying our departure time and looking at the view. We have already booked our return trip for the Fall and can't wait to see the lake in full Fall color.

The Lodge on Lake Lure is just the best and deserves six stars at least!!! The rooms are remarkably comfortable, the staff makes you feel like family, and the in-house restaurant, Appalachia, nails the fine line between fine dining and comfort food. This place simply has it all. Finally, but not least, the staff is phenomenal, especially Amanda and Chef Tim. They make you feel like you have stepped into their own homes. To cap it off, what can you say about a place that takes care of you while a disaster is happening around you? This happened during the recent Hurricane Helene disaster and with no power, no cell service, and no internet available, they took great care of us and made us feel safe and secure. We truly loved our full visit here and recommend it to one and all.

The Lodge at Lake Lure has it all— stunning views, welcoming and attentive staff, fine dining, and charming, comfortable accommodations. We were first greeted by Stephanie at the front desk who introduced us to the property and showed us to our room. We stayed in Room 4 in the Main Lodge building—tremendous views through every window! Our room offered modern comforts and conveniences packaged in rustic elegance. Our private balcony provided the perfect spot to enjoy a beverage before taking part in a boat tour of the lake offered to lodge guests. Captain Scott led the tour and shared entertaining tidbits about the area’s development while pointing out local areas of interest to visitors. We enjoyed two delightful meals at Appalachia. From specially crafted cocktails through salads, entrees and dessert, each course was fresh and beautifully prepared— not to mention delicious! On both evenings, the chef checked in himself to make sure we were enjoying our meals; this is just one example of the personal touches afforded by staying at the Lodge. There are numerous groupings of thoughtfully arranged tables and chairs on the waterfront decks— an ideal location to enjoy a sunset over the mountains. Evenings would find us curled up on the sofas and chairs in the Lodge Great Room reliving the day’s adventures and planning our next trip to the Lodge on Lake Lure. We had a wonderful time and can’t wait to return!

We traveled to The Lodge on Lake Lure this past weekend and wondered why we have not visited the area before. One of the reasons we chose The Lodge is because it’s the only hotel on the lake. Honestly I don’t think another one could be better if they tried. The views from our lake side rooms are mesmerizing. Waking up with the view out the window and getting ready in the morning are welcomed when you have this view. (see pictures) The lodge has a restaurant and bar that also make you not want to leave each evening. One, the food is absolutely the best in town and if you like craft cocktails, these rival any bar in the city. Second, the experienced chef and service were so friendly and welcoming that they treat you like family. The launch just completed a renovation that improved all of the quality of the atmosphere but keeping it to where you know you are still in a 100 year old lodge. The old wood frame is matched with modern conveniences. (see pictures) If you enjoy the Appalachian Mountains and being on the water, then you should be required to visit The Lodge on Lake Lure. You won’t want to travel anywhere else the next time.

Responded 22 Sept 2022
We are certainly appreciative of your kind words! We had just opened back up - after 2 and a half years of closure - so it was nice to finally have guests back to the Lodge! With all the recent renovations and upgrades, your words really hit home with us! Thank you!

This newly owned and renovated hotel is a gem!!! Located right on the lake with stunning views of both the water and mountains, this lodge is perfect for a relaxing weekend!!! The rooms are a mix of the old school decor and architecture that used to house NC State Troopers on retreats back in the 1930s, along with updated amenities. We had a very comfortable king sized bed that helped us rest easy. The bath room had a walk-in shower along with a soaking tub. The balcony was the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee while watching some of the local boats on the lake. Outside seating areas with manicured landscaping that over look the lake invite you to grab a chair and enjoy an adult beverage from the Lodge’s bar. Can’t wait to revisit in the fall!!!!

Of all the lodges or hotels we've stayed at in NC the Lodge on L Lure has the most beautiful setting. The lake is gorgeous. The new boat house and decks are wonderful to sit on to read a book, sip champagne or just relax. The staff is really friendly and the restaurant is outstanding, very gourmet. Morning coffee is delicious but they only offer a minimal continental breakfast, no big deal for us. The rooms have a mountain theme with pretty birch furniture. Our mattress was pretty firm. Our room did not have a dresser but has a closet but bring extra hangers with you. We asked for a second luggage stand which they provided. You can swim right off the dock. We enjoyed morning coffee and tea on our deck overlooking the lake. I highly recommend sitting on your deck at sunrise, the lake is very peaceful with just the sounds of chirping birds. May even see deer below your deck at sunrise. The views of the.mountains is breathtaking!

The settting and charm of the old lodge was wonderful. We had a room overlooking the lake which provided waking up to a peaceful view. And a claw foot tub for a soak with stunning views. We had a very nice dinner, too. Shared a pork chop that was perfectly cooked and a good size. The bead with the oil and balsamic was also very good but we are not used to paying for bread. But was worth it as it complemented the grilled Caesar salad The staff were very delightful and helpful.

This is our third stay at The Lodge on Lake Lure and it gets better every time. We stayed in a king room with beautiful views of the lake and it couldn’t have been more relaxing with the soaking tub and fluffy robes. The highlight of our stay was the easy access to the lake for swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking. There’s a lakeside bar for refreshments and snacks as well. That night we enjoyed craft cocktails and a delicious meal at the on-site restaurant, Appalachia. We’ve tried most of the restaurants in the area and there is no comparison when it comes to the quality of the food at Appalachia. All of the staff members were so friendly and really went above and beyond. I can’t say enough good things about our stay and we are planning a return visit next month!

This is a beautifully restored historical building in a peaceful setting. It’s a great place to go to just “chill” for a bit, but also close enough to some good hiking trails. Also, it’s a good “base of operations” if you’re interested in visiting Hendersonville and/or Asheville: they’re both just about an hour away; making it a great day trip. It’s not a bed and breakfast, however, they have a continental breakfast of cereal (the overnight oats were delicious), homemade muffins and breads, bagels, or toast which we thoroughly enjoyed each morning. Amanda and Sharron were very nice and made our stay enjoyable. There’s a restaurant on site with good food, but pricy. Be sure to take the evening pontoon boat ride that you reserve directly through the Lodge; very relaxing, and informative, enjoyable evening. Recommend you book a room with the oversized clawfoot tub: fantastic for a rejuvenating soak!

I think the paneling in the lodge may be lacquered however, it was done over 40 years ago. If you cannot go on historic buildings then don't go in the Lodge. The rooms in the separate building have painted walls.
We find the corner rooms quite nice and quiet. Have never stayed in mellow but the only rooms that are at all noisy are the first two rooms on the top floor chocolate paws and the one next to it, and that is only because of the hall air conditioner, most folks would not mind.. We generally stay in hole in one and find the view quite nice. I think yellow has an even better view but am not sure. The mingling hour is a bit chintzy but the meals are excellent, recommend eating there. Do not know about the other buildings but we have always found the main building excellent. Have stayed there many times over the years.
