Detailed Reviews
This is an older hotel fitted with some modern amenities. Each room is separately air-conditioned with a window unit. The unit in our room was whisper quiet. Our king bed was very comfortable with plenty of additional blankets. The bath room was well equipped and for a one time fee of $10 we were able to have a mini-fridge in the room.
The staff was very helpful, friendly and accommodating. In fact, they made our stay there a real pleasure. Cannot think of enough compliments for the staff.
An elevator made it easy to reach the second and third floors of the hotel. With dining facilities and a cozy bar this Inn a great destination at Lake Lure.

1927 Lake Lure is a nice 93 year old hotel with lots of antiques. We stayed in a suite which was nice. The bed was comfortable but the couch was old and sunken. The best advice that I can give readers is to recommend that you call the hotel to find out if there are any parties on the patio/veranda during your stay. We were surprised with a wedding from 6-10pm, with the DJs speakers right below our window. We couldn't stay in the room during the party, the DJs woofer speakers shook the room and unfortunately the hotel bar was closed on a Sunday night during a holiday weekend and a packed hotel, go figure, I was hoping to watch a ball game during the wedding. So we found some cushy chairs in the hallway and watched stuff on our tablets til the music stopped. We would have reserved a room on the other side of hotel, if they had called us to let us know there was a very loud party below our room. We complained to management and they discounted our Sunday rate by 50% which was appropriate. Other than that we asked them to refresh / reclean our room which they did. Breakfast was basic bagels & muffins, the coffee was good. There's only one restaurant nearby that offers hot breakfasts but Jenny's was short staffed with 1 hour wait time, so we drove to one of the wonderful apple orchards near Hendersonville and bought hot delicios apple cider doughnuts which we ate for breakfast during our stay, with the hotel coffee.

We arrived midweek in the late afternoon with no reservations having randomly picked this hotel from a guide we were given at the hospitality center in Lake Lure. Stepping in the antique and art filled lobby was like taking a step back in time and we instantly felt lucky to have stumbled on this historic Inn gem. The 3rd floor antique decorated 4-poster King size bedroom had a beautiful view the lake, marina, beach and the mountains. We were pleased with the comfortable bed, linens and pillows. The room was very quiet although there was plenty of "goings on" outside. The bathroom had a small shower and antique fixtures. There was no refrigerator. Continental breakfast is served each morning. We absolutely loved every minute of our stay here at the Inn. The Staff was so nice and gave nice us ideas of activities to do-which there are so many you can easily walk or drive too nearby. There is a large gorgeous pool and the grounds are full of flowers and shrubs. This would be a lovely place to get married or honeymoon. We can't wait to come back but next time we will stay for longer!

I’m not sure what places people stay in usually that give this place 4 or 5 stars which stand for ‘very good’ and ‘excellent’ respectively.
The place is old, tired and worn down from decades of doing just the bare minimum of maintenance and upkeep.
We had a room with a kingsize bed and window facing the lake. The windows did not open (jammed). The blind and curtains do block much light in the morning so be prepared to wake up early.
Our bathroom was so small that at the same time, I could sit on the toilet, wash my hands in the sink and wash my feet in the shower without moving.
The carpet makes you want to wear flip flops.
The AC unit in the wall was loud. When switched of, we could hear the party that was going on in the hallway of our floor.
Linens were clean and mattress was comfortable.
When we sat at a table in the bar area, I looked out the window just to see at least 6+ dead bugs on the windowsills. It’s been a while since they’ve been cleaned.
The ‘continental breakfast’ is not great. Stale bagels, dirty tables.
The staff is friendly but that is not enough to make us come back. This place is in need of some serious renovations and investment in customer relations.

While this hotel try to capitalize on its role in the movie, Dirty Dancing they fail to meet the most basic standard for even economy hotels, We stayed here for two days for a family wedding and were very disappointed. The room was very small, there were only 4 hangers in the tiny closet, the furniture looked like something from a college dorm, the water pressure for showering was very low and there was no counter space in the tiny bathroom. In addition the "free breakfast" leaves much to be desired as there is no fruit, or egg dishes, its basically yogurt and cereal. Another couple from the wedding party said they're room was infested with roaches and their heater didn't work.

positives: great beds and pillows(new and comfortable and Richard at the front desk
negatives: there is a huge difference between historical charm and outdated and ran down/this hotel lost its charm many years ago/rooms are terrible and not worth a dime over $75 and that is on the high end/dark outdated carpet, 1970's tacky wall art, outdated worn down furniture, cracks all over the bathroom floor, shower could not be used (stained and dirty grout) toilets at least 20 years old
if I owned this historial hotel I would be ashamed and embarrassed to say so

Our party of five went to Easter Brunch today with high hopes of a wonderful experience. We have never been, and thought it would be great to try given the menu we had seen and favorable reviews we had heard. We drove an hour each way, and it was far from worth the time. The servers were very inattentive. Drinks were rarely refilled unless we asked. Sadly, the food left a lot to be desired. Everything was overcooked and lacked flavor. The sausage links were difficult to cut into, sides like the mac and cheese and stuffing were extremely dry, and the beef and other proteins were overcooked as well. I was offered “rare” roast beef which was dry and cooked beyond well done. I honestly barely ate because it was just that bad. I never even had dessert because by then I was just frustrated, and no one in my party seemed to enjoy anything they tried anyways. Our server not once asked how anything was, and just brought the bill. I asked to speak to a manager. The manager finally came and I was greeted literally with the words, “manager.” Not..’Hi, I’m so and so, I understand you asked for a manager…what can I help you with…’. I explained how disappointed we all were, and that other than the cocktails, everything was very disappointing. She said she would see what she could do. Never apologized or anything. The server returned with a new bill where she had taken 25% off of my $50 charge, but nothing done for anyone else. The manager never returned. So…$200 for the three of us for an awful experience, and it looks like I’ll be making another meal at some point in the distant future because we all walked away hungry. The icing on the cake was when we were leaving we were walking down a straight path through the restaurant and a server started to walk through us to cross and then very loudly exclaimed, “Well okay then!” as if we had somehow cut her off when she was literally trying to walk through us. Extremely rude behavior. We will never go back.

Room itself is small, cramped. No place to plug in phone chargers, etc.
Was 5 minutes late to complimentary breakfast on Saturday morning and all the bagels were already removed. Asked front desk clerk if it was possible to receive a bagel and was denied the "complimentary breakfast" touted as one of the services.
Room service never cleaned my room on Saturday. Final insult was an additional $40 charge for a pool towel that I did not remove from the room. When I called to dispute the charge, the front desk clerk argued with me regarding the charge. For the price I paid for the room, I am sorely disappointed in the level of customer service I recieved.

We stayed 2 nights in one of the jacuzzi suites. Bed very comfortable, rest of the furniture not. Dust on several surfaces.
The Verandah Sunday brunch was excellent, and the wait staff were terrific!
We can’t recommend staying on a Sunday night. Asked twice for some housekeeping services (only a total of two washcloths were allotted for two people for two nights), plus clean coffee cups and glasses. They finally arrived by 5pm.
Neither of their restaurants are open after 2 pm on Sunday.
We were awakened at 530 am on Monday by trash trucks banging loudly for about 15 minutes. Front desk said it happens every Monday.
Monday AM went to the continental breakfast, the only thing open. Cereal, muffins, tomato or grapefruit juice and coffee were the only options. No fresh fruit, toast, or other healthy and flavorful options were available. No coffee lids for transporting coffee to the room.
One family brought their large St. Bernard with them to breakfast! No staff anywhere monitoring or cleaning. Our choices were a dirty table, or none at all.
Feels like there is not a lot of oversight, attention to detail, or concern for issues—unless you are there with a wedding party.
We won’t be back.

I took my boyfriend here for 3 nights for his 50th birthday get away. The grounds are lovely and the hotel staff was consistently friendly and helpful. We stayed in the main hotel (there are two parts) and it was very clean. Many amenities were unavailable due to Covid but we liked that additional precautions kept us safe.
We had a king bed room with a jetted tub and everything was exactly as promised and wonderful. The location was great and the old school windows made me feel super glamorous. The room had all the expected amenities (very nice continental breakfast, hair dryer, ironing board and iron, luggage racks, hair dryer, robes, fridge, microwave, TV, etc.)
There were only 2 complaints about the entire trip. 1. The TV was RIDICULOUSLY small. Like 24 inches and mounted to the ceiling. Of course that was not the reason we were there but it would have been nice to be able to see it during our down time. 2. The microwave was weird. We had the hardest time opening it. We spilled what was in it almost everytime we opened it. Small things for sure - but things you notice when you pay over $200 a night!
Would definitely stay here again. Super well located too!

I don’t know the answer. Try contacting the Inn. They would be able to answer your question!
Enjoy your getaway!
There are a few select rooms with direct water views, but they are limited to the Swayze suite and the Fitzgerald suite, and a couple of king rooms. The Overlook cabin has a full elevated porch with seating that overlooks the lake, but none of the hotel rooms have balconies, only windows.
