My family of 4 stayed over New Years . It was breathtaking - felt like we stepped back in time . The grounds , amenities ,food and staff were top notch. Great place to immerse yourself in history and to decompress. Lake Toxaway feels like you are in Europe with the mountains as a backdrop meeting a pristine lake. It was also referred to as Little Switzerland in the turn of the century. We hated to leave and cant wait to return to this paradise.

The Greystone Inn will take your breath away…in so many ways. Built in the early 1900’s, this magnificent estate has weathered, with an occasional wrinkle, the test of time. Beautifully adorned, and wrapped in exquisite craftsmanship both inside and out, this timeless property has been extensively renovated to compliment the original dream of Lucy Armstrong, its creator. Lush gardens, featuring hand carved stone steps and paths meander throughout the grounds and along the shores of Lake Toxaway. Our suite featured heated tile floors in both baths, and views overlooking the mountains and the lake. Complimentary turn down service, featuring fresh iced, lemon water welcomed us each evening on our return. Scrumptious morning breakfasts on the patio, wrapped in nature, overlooking Lake Toxaway were a welcome treat. Great selection of professionally inspired menu items from the restaurant, make lunch and dinner a go to place when we didn’t want to leave the property. There are daily cruises on the lake available for guests. Plus, the opportunity to take your own private cruise via the Lightning Bug, a handcrafted, teak inlaid boat with an electric motor built for a leisurely cruise for two. Yes…There are steps and stairs, just like there was in the 1900’s. And they too, will take your breath away. Accessing the private secluded decks and docks are worth every step in one’s journey to unwind, meditate, read a book, or just chill out with your significant other. Paulette, the General Manager, strives to make everyone’s stay as pleasant as possible. It’s tough in today’s market to please everyone, me included. But, because of her efforts and that of her staff, I was so impressed by this property that I rewrote three chapters in my latest novel to include this truly special place as a destination location.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. I surprised my husband with a rose petal turndown and music playing when we arrived on the first night. We had some truffles and banana bread waiting for us as well! It was nice but the music was only playing from an iPad. I thought there would’ve been a speaker or something in the room so that was a little less than expected. The ladies in guest services were very nice on arrival. The bartender was super sweet. We loved her!!! She definitely added a nice touch to our stay in multiple ways. We had dinner at the restaurant both nights. The food was delicious and our servers were always very nice. I’d highly recommend going to the dining room to have your meals. We ordered breakfast as room service one morning and it was not at all the same quality bc the food had gotten cold and some items were forgotten. We had a spa day with a couples massage with all the add ons and I also had a body exfoliation afterwards. Our spa experience was really amazing. The ladies who worked with us were phenomenal, made us feel very comfortable and did such a wonderful job at massage. All in all, it was a good stay! I personally feel some things were overpriced. Specifically the turndown services, flower bouquet and things we enjoyed in the room. But otherwise, it was an enjoyable experience.

Reserved a lake cruise for my wife’s birthday and in-laws celebration 4 days in advance. We arrived at our scheduled time at 4:45pm today for the cruise to receive a phone call telling us they cancelled our reservation but we were welcome to book the next night since they were not booked up - yet. They never informed us at time of reservation they would cancel our reservation if a in-house guest reservation came up. The boat holds 24 people. The worst service from a hospitality company ever received. A beautiful setting managed by horrible service. Highly disappointed and won’t waste my time in the future. There are many great lodging, dining and activity choices in the area. Don’t waste your time or memories on this one.

Had a room in the attic area - lots of stairs- staff did not follow through with making reservations, woman in bar area had an attitude, rooms had stains on the carpet and windows and screens to look out onto the beautiful lake were dirty and full of mud. Had to call twice to get electrical outlets working as anything you plugged in fell out of the sockets. AC was not working well. A sure disappointment

We are here now June 12th for 3 nights. A beautiful property, but it’s so poorly run. 6 of us for dinner and it took almost 3 hours and there were only 4 other tables inside. Maybe 8 outside. The food just so so. Front desk doesn’t answer the phone. 2 couples got turn down service, we did not. For $400 a night there are much nicer places to stay.

My husband and I spent 2 nights in a Premium Terrace room. The room was lovely and the terrace was huge with beautiful views. This inn has so many quiet, pretty spots (inside and outside) to hang out and chat, have a drink or play a game. We loved all the rocking chairs and swings everywhere. The staff was wonderful. The location is excellent for hiking and outdoor activities.

We stayed here in April 2021 to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. The service was outstanding and setting so peaceful and beautiful! We returned this weekend to celebrate our 3rd anniversary because we loved our experience last year There we no familiar faces staffing wise. Most of the staff was very young. While the setting and rooms were still wonderful the experience just wasn’t the same. The in room fridge did not work when we arrived. Heat lamp in bathroom didn’t work. The 2nd night of our stay house keeping didn’t show up until 530, which was right in the middle of our getting ready for dinner. We missed our dinner reservation in Cashiers that night because of this. There just was no true apology, accommodation of the staffing shortages the inn is experiencing. The lead cleaner said we are doing the best we can and then a “manager” response after over hearing my conversation with my husband was once again we are doing the best we can; no one wants to work. Just not the response when you are spending $1500 for two nights getaway. There was no turn down service that 2nd night. Easter Brunch in the restaurant deck was just beautiful. Hope things improve staffing wise. Not sure when I’ll be excited to go back. The setting itself is unmatched.

At The Greystone, we are committed to operating a business that lives up to our standards and exceeds our guest's expectations. This is why your voice and opinion is so important to us. We have a new team and please rest assured this has been addressed as to not happen again. I profusely apologize for the response you received from housekeeping and the housekeeping manager as this is not acceptable. I do realize that we are short staffed as the rest of the world is but that is not an excuse. I am terribly sorry that you missed your dining reservations. We pride ourselves on the attention to detail in all that we do and clearly we missed the mark with your visit. I'm sorry that we let you down and rest assured that we are addressing all areas of your experience. If possible, I would like to discuss your experience so that we can pin point some areas that were disappointing and apologize appropriately. We chose The Greystone Inn to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary and were simply blown away by our experience. First, the staff was amazing. We were greeted upon our arrival by Jenny and Cory who took care of everything we asked for, including a place to charge our Tesla (in the parking lot of the next door Country Club). Cory carried our bags to our room, the Astor Suite and showed us everything about our room. The view of the lake was incredible! Great balcony and we loved the fireplace in our room. We spent many nights snuggled up in front of it. The room was huge with a very large bathroom that had a super sized shower and a great soaking tub. We enjoyed drinks at the main bar several nights. The bartenders were so friendly and made some amazing margaritas! They offered some great bar food also. The sliders were awesome! The Lakeside Dining Room Restaurant is definitely worth trying for breakfast and dinner. For breakfast, ask Alex for her special Mimosas! Very good. Dinner was amazing and they have a great wine list also. We had a special treat while staying at the Greystone in that we were able to take a lake tour on Miss Lucy, an electric boat. It usually doesn't run in the Winter however the weather was so nice, they offered it. Debbie was an amazing guide and was very knowledgeable about the property and the lake. We cannot say enough about our stay at The Greystone Inn. As amazing as this property is, it's the staff that makes it all amazing. We felt as if we were the only guests there. Thanks again. We'll be back!
