Stay Report - 8/9 to 8/10
Location: As the name implies the hotel is located in Downtown Morganton. It's nicely across the street from Fonta Flora Brewing and an easy walk to the nicer parts of this city. It's about 10 minutes off of I-40 so getting around the area from here is simple.
Hotel: Surprisingly nice. I'm used to the older style, just off the highway Fairfields, and this is as nice as some full service properties I've been to. There's a pleasant lobby with a marketplace, a small outdoor pool, decent indoor gym, and an attached full service bar which while nice, you can't charge drinks to your room from. Still, great option.
Check In: Wonderful. Two friendly agents who upgraded me to a suite, asked if I wanted points or a marketplace item and were extremely helpful
Room: Really, really impressive. A separate living and bedroom with two TVs, large bathroom with a good shower, no issues Wifi or soundproofing and there were outlets by the bed. No complaints at all about the room
Breakfast: The only major downside. The new Fairfield breakfasts are awful. The hot options were an egg quiche or a ham and cheese and egg croissant. The croissants are half frozen. There was also cereal, fruit and yogurt but it's really disappointing.
Breakfast aside a great stay. I'd be back.

The Fairfield Inn & Suites is a new Hotel in the downtown area of Morganton NC.
I will get to the accommodations in just a minute. We were very annoyed that our room had been paid in advance but after checkout, the hotel took it upon themselves to charge a nights stay to the credit card that they had for incidentals.
We had to wait several days to get reimbursed which was a big inconvenience. (Incidentally, the staff at hotels.com were wonderful in helping us get the mistake rectified:)
Now the hotel was great. We stayed in room 324 which was a large corner room
With views over downtown and within walking distance to several restaurants.
The king bed was very comfortable and the room had a mini fridge and microwave. The bathroom was wonderful and the shower was absolutely outstanding and ergonomically brilliant.
The only negative with the room was the lack of a safe. The free (Covid) breakfast was pretty decent too. We would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I wanted a quick getaway, so we chose Morganton. We didn’t want to stay in one of the hotels by the interstate, so we loved that this one was downtown. You can’t beat the location, it’s easy to walk to downtown and explore the shops and restaurants. The hotel seems to be fairly new and modern. The room was nice and clean. My only complaint was that we had a room facing the road and loud trucks roared up and down the street all night. If we stay here again, I would definitely pick a parking lot facing room. Breakfast wasn’t very good, but that’s the way things are right now with COVID. The staff at check in and out was very nice.

We stopped here for one night while passing through NC. For the most part everything was good and the hotel smelled and looked clean. I walked into spacious my room and checked out the bathroom which also looked and smelled clean. The gentleman at the front desk was nice and extremely helpful during check in. Everything was great - until the following morning and I realized my kids slept on a bed with blood stains on it! I guess housekeeping laid that side of the comforter down towards the bed. I knew it was too perfect and I should’ve pulled the sheets off to check. I brought my complaint to the front desk at check out who asked if there was anything they could do for me. I was annoyed they asked! They should’ve automatically either discounted the room or given me some additional Marriott Bonvoy rewards points, or offered me something during my next stay at a Marriott hotel. Instead the woman at the front desk continues by saying “you know lately we’ve been having a lot of people who stay at this hotel complain about blood on the sheets”. I don’t know if she was nervously making conversation or unknowingly admitting housekeeping sucks and management isn’t on top of it. Since it was a one night stay and I was already checking out I didn’t push the issue and instead just went to grab some breakfast before departing. There was an extremely limited selection for breakfast. If it hadn’t been for those dirty bedsheets my stay would’ve been perfect even if breakfast was slim pickings!

Enjoyed our recent stay at the Fairfield Inn hotel in Morganton, NC. Made our reservations at the Marriott Bonvoy web site and received the best rate using the senior discount.
We arrived early to the hotel and were greeted by Wendy at the Front Desk. She was very pleasant and did well to confirm our reservation and check out ID. Although Wendy was very hospitable and welcoming she could have enhanced the check in experience by recognizing our status on Marriott Bonvoy and offering of our status welcome choice of item from sundry area or points. She tell us about the timing of breakfast.
The guest room was in excellent condition and the room spotless clean. The bathroom was spacious with a large sink vanity and I appreciated the stand up shower. Wifi worked great in the guest room and public spaces. The bed was comfortable. A large TV centers and plenty of space on the desk. I really like that the room has a high ceiling which gives the room a larger appearance. There are plenty of drawers for clothes and a small closet. A mini fridge, single cup coffee maker and small microwave are also in the room. Our room attendant was Cheyenne, she did a great job with a room tidy on our stay over day and was also very friendly.
The lobby is well designed with a small sundry area. Across the street enjoy the Fonta Flora Brewery with food trucks. There is a bar in the hotel with outdoor seating for your enjoyment open every evening. The outdoor pool was closed during our stay. The hotel is close to the downtown area with excellent restaurants, ice cream, candy and art shops.
The breakfast during our stay started at 7 AM and was very nice. Typical scrambled eggs, sausage, and biscuits. Nice to see a make your own waffle station however only one iron is provided and that causes a little wait. A fresh pot of oatmeal with assorted nuts and condiments. yogurts, and cereals.
The breakfast attendants were hard working and very friendly. Kudos to Cassandra and April for their hard work on Saturday morning especially with all the teams in the hotel that hit the buffet hard.
We are early risers and met the night audit person working the overnight shift Alan who also was very friendly. This hotel has a lot of amazing staff and management should commend them all for their hard work and hospitality. It makes a difference. This is my favorite Fairfield Inn within the Marriott brand.

We wanted to visit our son in Morganton on our way to Indiana for Memorial Day. We were traveling with our dog, a Pug, basically a lap dog. The hotel wanted a $75 non-refundable fee for a pet. The room itself was $112 (which was do-able) but with the pet fee, taxes, and other charges, the final came to $250! Needless to say we stayed elsewhere for much less. Very disappointed.

Fairfield is located downtown, not with the interstate exit motels.the hotel is new with walk in showers , 4 k tv and actually serve breakfast. Best of all Robert at front desk was so helpful . Recommended day trips and getting fresh coffee and generally giving us local guide info, what a great asset he is to this motel.

We booked into the hotel not realizing it was pet friendly. One of our group is allergic to dogs so we had to check out within an hour of arrival. Kristen was at the front desk and was absolutely fantastic. She was kind understanding, and totally professional. This hotel isn’t for us but for travelers with pets it’s a fabulous place to stay.

We took a ride over to see this little Town, and our short stay at this Hotel was a nice comfortable stay. The Hotel is not that Big but it is adequate. The Rooms are kind of small and not a set up for a long extended kind of stay, the dresser drawer and closet space are very small, and there is no personal Safe in the room. The Hotel is fairly newly built and is very clean, and the staff are friendly and accommodating. The Hotel is located in a good convenient location to get to other places in the area.
The Hotel has an Outdoor Pool and some Patio Seating. Also the Hotel has a Bar to purchase Alcoholic Beverages and it's own indoor and outdoor seating area. The complimentary Breakfast Buffet was decent. Our Room was comfortable, but it is small. We had a good short stay.

Everything was great with our stay! The staff was waiting for the health dept to inspect before they could open the pool and Rebecca went above and beyond getting them there so the pool would be opened. We had a suite which was the largest hotel room we’ve ever stayed in. Great breakfast, many options. Very clean hotel with friendly staff. I went to the lobby to get coffee at 5am so we could head back to Pittsburgh and the staff did not have it prepared yet since it was so early but she told me to give her 5 minutes to brew it! Everyone was great! I would definitely stay there again and recommend to everyone!
