the room was ok there were alot of dogs at this place and at 6:15 am the dogs started barking people yelling and slamming doors we decided to leave .i spoke with the guy at the desk and told him what the problem was he didn't seem to care..i asked for a nites refund and he gave me some BS story about corporate has to make the decision .well i highly doubt that this little dive motel has a corporate office and now they are closed for the season and can't get a response from anyone .. so as you can tell I was not at all impressed with this place ....I will never go back and will tell everyone i know that going to Nags Head to stay away from this place...
We booked this motel for a 5 night stay in September, solely because of the beach front location. In retrospect, I should have spent a bit more and stayed someplace else. The pictures of this place make it look much better than it is. Granted it is listed as a 2 star motel so I may have set the bar too high. The motel is very old but recently "remodeled". It is located right on the beach making it easy to walk out of your room and onto the beach in a few steps -that is a big positive. The room was reasonably large with a full sized refrigerator and a microwave. The bed was comfortable. The AC unit was in the window and worked hard to keep the room cool. The bathroom was small and cramped with a pedestal sink and NO counter space and no place beside the back of the toilet to put anything. The towels were thin and yellowing, soap a very thin sliver - the kind you might find in a 50's motel. I had some that I brought with me thankfully. The shower, however was newly remodeled and good. It had a "rain" shower head that I don't particularly care for however. When we stay someplace for several days we like to unpack. This room had no bureau drawers to put anything in, only a couple of plywood shelves covered with linoleum. Because it is so close to the beach, there is sand everywhere. There is no entry rug to clean your feet so consequently there is sand everywhere including your bed if you're not careful (and even if you are). There is a broom & dust pan provided, but there is no housekeeping offered. Towels and trash have to be placed outside your door for pickup and you have to find a housekeeper cleaning an empty room for fresh towels. There are limited office hours. No breakfast or coffee are provided except the coffee maker in the room. We were pulling a small trailer and called before our trip to determine if they could accommodate us and were assured that they could. The parking area was very tight and limited so if you plan to stay there with more than a 10 ft trailer, look elsewhere. I read reviews by other travelers some good, some bad, I should have paid more attention to the negative ones - my bad, lesson learned, take heed.…
This motel is clean but rooms are small and are not renovated as stated. The mattress is extremely uncomfortable. Access to beach is great. Pictures are not accurate. Very old and towels were yellow and stained. Do not stay here. We left early.
This was our first time staying here and it did not disappoint. It is a older motel but great location and beautiful ocean front. We loved that it is pet friendly and room was clean and bed were very comfortable. Owner was super nice and staff was great. It’s close to Jeanette’s Pier and I saw dolphins swimming everyday. We will definitely stay again :) Michelle B
Found this in a travel guide for the Outer Banks. What a wonderful place, right on the beach. Room was clean, clerk was very friendly. Kind of old school look but has everything you need. Unfortunately the weather was a bit cold and wind was howling so didn't spend much time on the beach. We only stayed one night but would definitely stay there again.
30 day cancelation policy. No ifs, ands, or buts!! Standing to lose $625!!! due uncontrollable issue, we will have to forfeit or find someone else to take it. We would have come back another time, but now, don't think so.
One of my gifts is finding funky little places ON the beach, & the Dolphin was spot on. It’s just as it purports to be and I have no complaints. Friendly folks, clean as a whistle, and about 500’ from the ocean. I’d return in an instant. It’s not for the fancy minded, but it lacked nothing other than fancy. A real gem!
This was our second time to visit this motel. It has the feel of the 50's. It is ocean front. If you book an ocean front room, you are literally in the sand when you step out your back door. If you choose a court side room, you have to walk for less than a minute to be in the sand. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is laid back, and all the guests talk to each other. We had everything we needed-microwave, coffee maker, and fridge in the room. The air conditioner worked great, and the beds are comfortable. The only small issue was that it could have been a little cleaner, particularly with regard to the fact that the woodwork in the rooms needs a fresh coat of paint, as does the outside of the buildings. Other than that, we loved it and will definitely be back.…
This place is fantastic; you really can't get any closer to the beach, and we really appreciated being able to bring our dog. The rooms aren't anything lavish, but have exactly what you need for a place to crash/rest/relax between days spent by the water. Our room was clean and the A/C unit was a total champ; at a couple points during the (late August) trip we found ourselves too cold in the room! The staff was helpful, friendly, and accommodating. If you're looking for a clean, simple place to stay while you spend most of your time out at the beach, this is the spot!
We booked at the property office with our dog at the last minute and were treated to a tidy, comfortable room with perfectly acceptable and clean facilities. The management was helpful and friendly. They even helped me get reunited with my backpack and computer which were accidentally left behind while packing the car. It is NOT a fancy place, but it is clean and cozy.... and our dog was happy as well. My only complaint is that it is a single floor with ground level windows, so privacy can be an issue - good blinds are provided - but remember to lock windows at night
