We had not been back to the outer banks since 2009 so we decided to stay at the same place we did 11 years ago. Decor had really not changed much in 11 years but we didn’t mind as long as room is clean, which it was. Indoor pool and hot tub are awesome and spacious. Great location on the beach but recommend the 2nd or 3rd floors for the best views. We had a very relaxing vacation. Great value for the money. Our only 2 complaints are the beds are way too soft, and the new management could be more welcoming and friendly. The maintenance men that were painting outside were way more friendly than the owners. Overall we had a great time.
Sure wish I’d read the reviews before we booked! I basically had to re-clean the room, and that’s not good during this COVID-19 craziness. There was splatters all over the mirror from others brushing their teeth, there was pubic hair in the soap dish in the bathtub and the overall condition of the room was very poor. To say this hotel has seen better days is being extremely kind. The floor was clean and the towels smelled of bleach which is about the only good things I can say. Way overpriced for the condition of the room. It’s on the beach but you don’t really get a view because of the dunes. We made it one night and checked out for a better place. Do your homework and book elsewhere.
I made a reservation for a top floor efficiency with a view on July 5th for Sept 7th-11th. I got a conformation showing that. When I arrived they stuck me in a regular room, #1 , behind the dunes. No efficiency. So just because you reserve a room you may not get what you reserved. Don't know whos fault. The motel or Booking.com or maybe they thought they would lose a sell of someone else wanting the efficiency and figured since I was traveling solo they could move me. The guy at the deck just sort of laughed about the screw up. The room was ok. Toilet seat was about to fall off but they are working on improving the motel now with the new owners. Plan on fighting flies. (no fly swatter in the room)
This was THE most disgusting room we ever stayed in, in our lives. It was like it hadn't been cleaned in 40 years! We stayed 1 night and it was a $200 room. It should have been free it was so disgusting I can't even describe it. DO NOT stay at this motel. We were in room #30 which was the same building the office was in.
Horrible, dirty, bugs, a million flies,, air condition wasn't cool, screen door was broke, it wasn't ocean view as advertised it was a dune view. There was a dune right outside our door. We asked for someone to fix our door, they never showed up, or screen door swung open the whole time. they told us booking.com customers don't get upper level rooms. We met quite a few people who weren't happy, 1 couple had been staying there in the same room for 26years they said never again. They booked their room last year and paid for it and didn't get what they paid for. We were hoping this place would work out because it's a nice setup. But we won't be staying again.
