Was really sorry we booked 3 nights! From the minute we walked in, I wanted to be out of there. One of the most uncomfortable beds I’ve slept in. The pillows were really cheap foam pieces. The AC was really too cold and set on 64. We tried to turn it up, and a really bad burning smell followed. We listened to water drip for 3 days, and got very little sleep. The room is very small with only a small table with chipped paint. It just felt dirty. Our view was the parking lot, and a short walk up stairs to the beach area. Place is dog friendly which was a plus. The pool was actually nice, and the temp was pleasant. All the employees were very friendly, however you check in on a kiosk with the guys picture on the screen. You never see them in person. Would not go back.

had 3 spoons, 3 forks & 3 knives! No dishwasher but no dishcloths to wash dishes with - no paper towels. Very uncomfortable couch & chairs-furniture beat up-could hardly walk around bed. I would not go there again. Best thing about the place was distance from the beach & pet friendly. I thought the price was high for what it was. I think they get you because it's pet friendly.

We have been Going to the Colonial Inn for about 10 yrs. The staff is always friendly and accommodating .usually we are in rm 206 (efficiency) . This time we were in 205. I always find it to be clean. My one complaint is that these rms are suppose to be oceanfront but you can no longer see the ocean. The reeds and such are over grown.! Maybe they should raise the deck ?.

We stayed in a 2 room”suite” (????). The room was filthy, dark, dining chairs and table had torn fabric/finishes. Kitchenette was. Old and dirty you had to unplug stove to use the coffee machine that did not work. The on line pics on their web site are fake. The room. Pics we’re fake and the beach and pool pics are fake. The 2nd level deck and 2stairs ass well were patched with ply board and very unsafe. The only positive was that it was next to a great fishing pier.

Beware folks!! We booked this for one night, and $338 later, we left feeling dirty and disappointed. We stayed in the 2 bedroom apt, which was nice because we had room and seating for all 6 of us, but it was clear that the room was not a $338 quality room. It was evident that many problems were plastered and painted over. Every blanket in the apt had some sort of sticky candy on it. The water pressure was inadequate for showering. The windows had no screens, and the window in the living room area would just pop open if the wind blew too hard. The floors were absolutely disgusting, as you can see in the picture of my fiancées feet after not wearing shoes inside. The worst part tho, no staff on site. We checked in with a machine that virtually connected us to a person who appeared to be working from a concrete closet. Save your money, and book somewhere more reputable and safe.

The party was 2 couples with 2 dogs. Room #201, a dune view, with 2 full beds in a space for 1 king at most. The room was filthy with obvious dirt, not just dust, dirt. The fan in tiny bath was visually disgusting with years of dust and dirt preventing it from working properly. The refrigerator’s overwhelming fishy odor was revolting. Unlike most, this Motel charges credit card upon entry, and its billing cannot provide separate bills for guests. Unswept sand on stairs made it dangerous and unseen maintenance personnel should address such liabilities. Front desk has limited staffing and a monitor with a remote employee is communication method. This will be our first and last time at this substandard business.

First let me say that it was a clean room, the bed was comfy, and it was ocean front, a place to lay your head for the night and shower in the morning. If you want a place that is more spacious and with more amenities look else where, if you want a place that's fairly inexpensive, comfy, and close to everything then stay here. The bathroom is small but functional. The only complaint is the partial blockage of the walkway by the laundry containers and the small parking lot.

The rooms are old with Peeling paint and stained ceilings. is it very musty. Furniture, if there is any in the room, looks like it has been beat up for the past 20 years. Very little water pressure. Even the outside of the buildings have not been maintained. They do not pick up dirty towels or garbage from the rooms. I realize there are not a lot of places to stay in the area but you would be wise to find somewhere else.. The pictures that they use in their advertising must be 20 years old

I always try to be honest. Give good points and bad. First the good. Good beach access right next to a pier to fish on. Fairly clean but needs some improvements. Very dated and older motel. The parking is very tight. You do your own housekeeping and have to deposit your own used towels in a bin outside. Same with the trash. You get no housekeeping at all. Cable went out for a better part of the day. Motel on a septic system and gurgled at night and everytime you flushed. The hair dryer was broke and also had to work on the coffee maker myself to get it to work. The mattress cover was stained by something and needed to be changed. Ice machine was broke but later fixed by maintenance. There is a great ice cream place across the road.

If you're looking for a dog-friendly place to stay, you'll probably like this motel. If you have allergies, be forewarned, you're going to need your meds, I had hives and congested sinuses the entire time we stayed there. I did see before booking that they were pet friendly and I guess I should have realized that I would be sleeping in a room that dogs had been in prior. If you don't like to hear dogs barking at night for 3 hours straight, be forewarned of that, too. The people in the next room would go out at night and leave their dog in the room and the dog howled and barked until they came back. There were some other "issues." The AC unit was installed into the wall, very high up, and the only way to see it in order to turn it on or off or set the temperature was to climb up on a chair. If you're a senior or unable to climb, you may wish to take this into consideration. The room seemed clean except for the floor, which was very dirty. We put towels down to walk on in the bathroom. In the bedroom, we wore our shoes. The location is great and the price is low so you have to expect that this isn't the Ritz and overlook the fact that the rooms are really small and everything is outdated. Water pressure in the shower is weak. The sink is so small, I couldn't rinse out my travel water bottle. There is no dresser or anyplace to put your things, other than a small drawer in each nightstand, so you'll be living out of your suitcase. There was a small closet with hangers and there were two folding luggage stands so that helped. The room was very dim as there were only 3 small lights, one by each side of the bed, and another by the door. There were 2 electrical plugs by each side of the bed. There were no bugs - I always look first thing. The pool looked nice and, although we didn't use it, there were many were using it. The location is great! The Nags Head pier is right next door, for those who like to fish, and our room had a small refrigerator with a separate freezer at the top which would come in handy if you do fish and want to clean it and freeze it for the trip home. The bar/restaurant on the pier is open on select days and convenient, if you prefer not to drive after a few drinks. Our room wasn't ocean front, but it was just a few steps across the parking lot and up some stairs to the beach. (There were "oceanfront rooms" available but there was no beach/ocean view from any of them because of the dunes. If you consider paying more for an oceanfront room, you should know in advance that you will not be able to see the ocean.) There were always people walking and playing with their dogs on the beach and most people were good about cleaning up the beach after their dogs. Just avoid any wet spots in the sand.
