We had 3 rooms one on the third floor overlooking the beach that was ok. The other two were on the parking lot just below and were horrible. Old solid and stained sheets, torn and stained chairs dirty bathroom and bugs. The view was amazing but that about all this place has going for it.
Old style beach motel. Very clean with an amazing restaurant. Valerie at the front desk was an absolute joy. We discussed outer banks themed books and our desire to make this a "Same time next year" event. When we checked out, Valerie presented us with a book from her personal collection that she thought we might enjoy.
Room was clean but did have bugs. Bath rooms small and needed updating. For a little more money you can get a lot more room. I would not stay at this establishment again. The bed was actually comfortable,
The management is really nice and accommodating. The only thing is not good is the air-conditioning you cannot control the temperature is really to cold. And if they can add more outlet to charging your cellphone or computer much better. But overall is not bad just to sleep only.
Old, old, old! Yes a good rate, but come on owner's, do some overdue maintenance and updates. Rusty bath drain, buckled plaster, rusty pipes in bathroom, outdated microwave, tv volume broken, cigarette holes in broken wood chairs inside room. Rusty safe, rusted fridge, old worn mattress, holes in pillowcases! The outdoor porch chairs were horrible, broken seat straps, should all be trashed. Thanks but no thanks, will not stay again.
My son & I stayed in an oceanfront efficiency and were very impressed with the room, the cleanliness, the kitchen staples (plates, glasses, silverware, etc., a microwave & a coffee pot along with a fridge, stove and sink), and the location (right on the beach). It was perfect for our short getaway. We will definitely be back!
Good for the price. Staff was great. Its a little worn but clean. They have old fashion tv's and dated furniture. They have very few ocean front rooms. Most are across the street but not a long walk. They are next to a restaurant by the the same name that is a Nags Head landmark. One of the best in the OBX. It is within walking distance to several ice cream shops, a basic grocery store and a souvenir shop. Its a great place for a family on a budget like us. There were also a lot of fishermen that enjoyed easy access to the pier. I would stay there again. Places like this are disappearing.
We stayed yet again at Owen’s Motel the week of July 5th. We love this place. They have three variations of rooms. Oceanfront, West Side (near the pool, one bed) and Courtyard which are for more than two guests. This place is so accommodating and always clean. The air conditioners work great in the rooms and it is beside what we think is one of the best restaurants in the Outer Banks, Owens. Fabulous food. Great drinks. The pool at the motel is clean, spacious and well maintained. Tables, chairs, umbrellas. Walking distance to Cahouns Store, Jeanette Pier and a number of restaurants. Park your car, have a drink. You can walk to everywhere you need to get to. We have been coming here for over 15 years and always feel welcome and love it. Teaching our grandchildren to feel the same now. Don’t hesitate to book here…
Owens’ Motel has never failed to offer exactly what we need : clean rooms, great location, and excellent service. 5-10 minute walk to : Grocery store, restaurants, shopping, and Jennette pier. Thanks to Jim and the ladies who manage the motel.
My wife booked a week with this motel using Travelocity. The price was tough to beat and the reviews kept saying how clean it was. Those reviews were correct...the motel is definitely older, but pretty clean. The bathroom was sizable compared to similar motels we’ve stayed in. There are some maintenance issues outside, but our room served its purpose. Maybe tone done some of the parking lights at night...the curtains and blinds didn’t block out all the light coming in our room. The demeanor of the whole place is low key and friendly. One area to note: The online listing for this motel says it is beachfront, but not all of it is. Our room was located across the street from the beachfront rooms which you should take into account if you have someone who struggles with walking distances of about a block. We didn’t know until we arrived, but it did not ruin our trip. Just be aware.…
