When we checked in we had a problem with our credit card. The person was so helpful it made us feel like home. She said to us not to worry about it right now and gave us our keys and that she would be back on Monday. We resolved it right away in the unit and went back to check...

We got a little short-changed on this visit as Hurricane Matthew decided to pay a visit first and we had to wait a few days before Dare County would allow visitors in again. We called the property manager on Monday following the storm and they were very friendly and helpful and explained that the resort had not lost power, there...

All I can say is if I was an owner at this place, I'd be wondering where my maintenance fees went. We had unit 305 which was a 3 bedroom and 3 bath which we were under the impression that it would be on the beach but was not, though it did have a view of it from the deck....

We went off season and got a place right on the ocean. It was dog friendly! The complex is off the main road so we had a safe place to walk the dogs. The unit (320) was spacious. It is a little outdated but clean and had all we needed for a few days at the OBX. I will definitely...

We just returned from a weeks vacation Oct. 17-24, at Dunes South. We were in unit 308. Only a 3 minute walk and you are on the beach. Very large and spacious two bedroom, two bathroom unit. Yes the furniture is dated, but everything is clean and in good repair. There are stains on the carpet from the unit being...

The pics on RCI show a development that's weather worn or worse and I had some concerns when I booked our spring break week getaway. Our arrival alleviated those fears, mainly. We were warmly greeted at check in and were told we had an oceanfront unit, 316. Info RCI didn't share with me so I was pleasantly surprised. Most association...

We've just returned from a week at Dunes South and enjoyed our stay very much. The unit(306) was spacious and clean. I think these units are heavily used which accounts for the carpeting being less then ideal. For us the important aspects were the proximity to the beach and they very friendly guests staying in the other units. Also that...

I went last September, and will go again this September. This place is affordable, comfortable, down-to-earth people, very friendly. All items needed to eat and clean are in the kitchen or small closet, the stack-washer-dryer worked great, the bathrooms were in good condition. The parking is adequate, there is a nice tennis court. There is a small outdoor shower and...

We have been owners at Dunes South since 1979, and we own three weeks in unit 312, which is right on the beach. We have one summer week and two weeks at Christmas. Although it's nice to come in the summer, we prefer the winter weeks at the beach to just get away and relax. Most winters are still warm...

“Interior duplexes are 3 stories but have ocean VIEWS. Inquire about an ocean front unit if that is what you prefer.”
virginiasrb, 14 Feb 2016 | Read review
“Units 311, 312, 313, 314 are all 3 BR/Lift and right on the beach. All are duplex units, so very little noise from visitors. There are three other duplex units on the beach, but I'm not sure of the numbers. However; the units right behind these units are positioned so that you can see the beach from these units as well. All units at Dunes South are duplex units.”

“Plan on bringing any type of kitchen tools you think you might use with you or else you might have to make a run to the store to buy them. Bring an egg crate mattress if you have one to help make the bed more comfortable.”

“The units with three floors do have two sets of stairs that are a little steep. I would not recommend this for people with small children, elderly, require handicapped access, or who have trouble with stairs in general.”
