We had a third floor room that was warm, clean & cozy but would choose 2nd floor east if we visited again. Good hospitality - wine in evening & breakfast included with room is mediocre in off season. Restful & clean.

A beautiful facility with friendly, helpful staff equals a fantastic stay. This was our first stay at the First Colony Inn and I can guarantee it will not be our last. We arrived at 8:30 on a Thursday night. The office was closed, but there was a note for us, telling us what room we would be in and that...

Celebrated a March birthday with a stay at the First Colony Inn. The social hour was wonderful - excellent sweet & savory snacks with good wine offerings. Our room was delightful - clean, spacious, and charming. Breakfast was wonderful. So much more enjoyable than a chain hotel. We shall return.

We throughly enjoyed our stay here. The breakfasts were delicious and the happy hours were great. We met a lot of new friends and had a great time. The hotel staff was very warm and welcoming. When I thought I lost my credit cards in the room Chris went out of his way to help me find them. We will...

Thank you for your review here, we do read each and every one and use them to help us improve our customer service. You only rated us a "one"...I think you meant to rate us higher based on what you posted? If so, we would appreciate it if you can edit that. Regardless, thank you for staying with us and...

This was the first time my fiancé and I had visited the Outer Banks, and we enjoyed our stay at First Colony Inn very much. We visited off season, in February, so it was quiet, but we'll definitely be back some day during the summer. Our room (the Ambrose Viccars) was very large and comfortable. We had a day bed...

Visited the Outer Banks before the season and spent two nights at the First Colony Inn. The off season rates are a great value. As noted in an earlier review the Inn is on the Historic Register. The rooms are very comfortable and the service is excellent. The location was convenient for the sites we wanted to visit.

First Colony Inn is on the Historic Register. I think there are only 24 rooms, each being named for a member of the lost colony of the late 1500's. It is a quaint friendly place that offers more than we expected. Examples of more than we expected included: bicycles for guests to use on the trails around town, one located...

We took advantage of the off season rates to try First Colony that we had seen so many times during our stays at OBX - and what a winner! Being greeted with beautiful February weather (sun, shorts, etc) probably helped, but our stay was super, from the moment we checked in until our departure. Staff was friendly, cheerful and helpful,...

Off season is a wonderful time to visit the Outer Banks and to stay with us at the inn. Lower rates, no crowds, nice weather (usually) and of course, southern hospitality and some great restaurants. Thank you and please do come back.

We just returned from our second trip and couldn't be more pleased. The vintage charm, down to the seasonal king and queen of hearts made from recyclables, created a peaceful getaway. The inn is well kept, and the staff adds to the experience. I have never had better customer service in a stay than I have had here. We left...

My wife and I have come each year to First Colony for many years. We live two hours drive, and see this great motel as our annual romantic getaway. Traveling worldwide for decades, this is one of our favorites. In the off-season you can stay in a historic landmark for $75 per night - this includes afternoon wine (self serve),...
