We just returned from our second trip and couldn't be more pleased. The vintage charm, down to the seasonal king and queen of hearts made from recyclables, created a peaceful getaway. The inn is well kept, and the staff adds to the experience. I have never had better customer service in a stay than I have had here. We left...

My wife and I have come each year to First Colony for many years. We live two hours drive, and see this great motel as our annual romantic getaway. Traveling worldwide for decades, this is one of our favorites. In the off-season you can stay in a historic landmark for $75 per night - this includes afternoon wine (self serve),...

Well, thanks! What a nice review to read. You were here during a very nice time...the off-season, when things are quieter and the prices are better too. I hope you will return soon and of course, stay at First Colony Inn again.

Love the ambience and the feeling of old world hominess!! Comfy bed, very clean. Loved the porch with rocking chairs. A towel warmer in the bathroom is a nice touch. Beautiful grounds. Not far from the beach. Definitely would stay here again!!

We love the First Colony Inn! The rooms are beautiful; clean and well-appointed with antique furniture. Our room had a porch and a kitchenette. The HVAC was very quiet. Breakfast had everything we wanted and more. Great start for a day of birding! Looking for a date to return.

It is always nice to hear that a guest enjoyed their time at First Colony Inn. Thank you for your review. We stay open all year with the exception of a week around Christmas and a few weeks in late Jan/early February (so we can clean, repair and refurbish). Please come on back when you can.

Came here for 2 nights for wife's birthday and early Valentine's Day as the Inn had a special deal going in Feb. Have been by many times, but never in. What a pleasant surprise! First of all, it's on the National Register...so,it's putting you back in a different time. Absolutely charming rooms, reception area and grounds. Our room had a...

My husband gave me two nights for a Christmas present. I came here as a child in the 60s and thought the nostalgia would be great. From the time we walked in and were greeted by Cheryl, we felt right at home. In fact, we loved it so we stayed an extra night. The innkeeper Kanda and her assistant Cheryl...

I really liked this place - how nice it was to get away from the standard chain hotel room for a change. We had one of the third floor rooms (maybe one of the cheapest?) and it had two dormer windows looking out towards the ocean, it was so quiet and white and clean. The bathroom was small but totally...

We were about the only guests in the Inn during December. Our room was large and very nice, including a large bathroom with heated towel racks! Breakfast was okay, with not too many options, but it was off season after all. It's only a few steps from the beach, so that would be a plus during beach season.

Things really slow down on the Outer Banks starting in mid-November, and many feel it is a really great time to be here; no crowds! Thank you for staying with us and please come back.

We stayed off season at the First Colony Inn and it was well worth it! The inn is so quaint and charming with plenty of ambience! Our room had many steps up to it on the 3rd floor corner but it was worth every step! We had a large charming room #20 with a very comfortable king-size rice poster bed,...

I loved this quaint bed and breakfast. The breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed the afternoon happy hour with wine and snacks. The staff was friendly. I was a little disappointed with the comfort of the beds but overall the room was nice...especially the heated towel bar. I would stay again.
