we had a nice 2nd floor room overlooking silver lake. room had a small fridge & a table with 2 chairs that we could eat at or play games. we are happy that there is a pet friendly place with such a beautiful view. it is very quiet when we are there in the off season. i suspect it may be a bit noisy in the summer
We've been coming to Ocracoke as part of our Hatteras vacation for decades and we absolutely love it! The staff is so friendly and helpful that we feel like it's a family reunion when we check in each year! The location is perfect! Just walk across the street to a wonderful restaurant and bar or for a dip in the pool if you prefer! Leave your car parked and rent a golf cart to get around the village in! You can't beat the experience! When they say, "Pet Friendly," they aren't kidding! We always take our dog on our beach vacation and the staff is so welcoming! The rooms could use some updating, but we are always comfortable and we keep coming back year after year! We love it! If you're looking for a 5-star experience, you will need to keep looking, possibly all the way to the mainland actually! However, if you're looking for a pleasant experience with a "Welcome Home" atmosphere, you can't beat the Anchorage! We'll be back there in a few weeks and can't wait!…
This is a decent hotel, great location to all fun things to do but to me almost $250 per night for a room here is way more than they should ask. Also had a cockroach crawling on the wall Sunday morning before we checked out.
Hotel is perfectly located. Great restaurant and bar across the street. Pool is great, with amazing views from the pool. Hotel is worn out and needs updated. Beds are uncomfortable and very small. Rooms were very clean and checkin was easy and staff was very nice.
Positives: Helpful and friendly staff, nice view of Silver Lake and Adirondack chairs on the balcony for guests to use. You can walk to the Community Center, Marina and Village Craftsmen shop. Negatives: The harsh weather has taken a toll on the rooms and ours was damp, especially after a thunderstorm. The location is not the quietest. This is a pet friendly motel and people left their yappy dogs in their rooms when they went out.
We stayed in the 5th floor suite at The Anchorage Inn and it has the best harbor and sunset view In Ocracoke. The suite is huge and was very comfortable. Highly recommend !!! We will certainly be back.
This was our first time to Ocracoke. we have stayed in many 5 star resorts around the world. I am giving this a 4 star because of what your choices are in Ocracoke. We stayed in room 601...............wow you stay here for the view. It is a huge one bedroom condo with a full kitchen, dining room, and bedroom with a living room that has a small balcony that looks over the ferry bay with 2 nice chairs. Most importantly it was very clean. where you need to manage your expectations is everything is from 1976 with the exception of the flat screen TV in the living area and the kitchen appliances have been updated several years ago it seems. All of the furniture seems original to the 70s. The cabinets and dressers/nightstands need to be wiped down with some dirt/stains on them and the bath needs to be recaulked. Other than that by far this is the best view and sunset you will get in Ocracoke for a reasonable price.…
We were in a pet friendly room on the ground floor. While the room was somewhat dated, the room was clean. The gentleman at the front desk was very pleasant & helpful. There was plenty of parking, and the location can’t be beat.
We have stayed at the Anchorage Inn several times and the experience has gotten worse each year. The Inn is clearly not the owners primary interest. The rooms are so damp that all your clothing is moist after a day. There were ants and cockroaches in the room. The parking situation is ridiculous due to so many spaces taken by golf carts and patrons of SmacNallys which are owned by the same owner as the Inn. If you go to the beach or explore with your own car during the day you will definitely get frustrated trying to get a parking space upon your return. The place needs a major renovation and updating.
Internet drops every 5 mins and no bath fan. Room was super clean which is a plus and the staff are wonderful but the best thing is the location. I would reccomend if you can deal with the internet and lack of ventilation.
