Really enjoyed my stay. Stayed for 4 nights. Friendly staff, nice sunsets from the dock, very clean room, good wifi. I originally booked 3 nights and then wanted to arrive a day early, but had to book a different room. After checking out of the first room, the staff was nice enough to call me when the 2nd room was ready so I wouldn't necessarily have to wait until the actual check in time, which I appreciated. Will probably be my first choice when I come to Ocracoke again.

For most of the past 20+ years, our family of three has taken Thanksgiving on Ocracoke. We began staying at the OHI and enjoyed the view and hospitality until we needed a bit more room. This year, we returned to OHI staying in the Tree House which was just the right size for us. Much of the Island shutdown on Thanksgiving Day so the OHI folks offered a traditional Turkey Day Buffett (for free) that day. What a nice surprise and relief. The Tree House has a nice kitchen, but we were glad to mix a bit with the others staying in the Inn. Ocracoke has been reopening after COVID so there are changes underway. OHI is clean, friendly and well located.

"The miracle is this: the more we share, the more we have."- Leonard Nimoy The island has been crazy, off the charts busy for the past three years -despite covid- for which we have been truly grateful, especially after Hurricane Dorian. Everyone on the island has been working incredibly hard to take care of all the new and repeat visitors, so it's understandable that the restaurants wanted to close for the holiday, and give their employees a much deserved break. It also allowed us an opportunity to offer and share Thanksgiving dinner with our guests...it was a WONDERFUL event; we thoroughly enjoyed cooking, decorating, and mixing and mingling...it was a lovely way to celebrate the true meaning of Thanksgiving. We are thrilled that you and the other guests enjoyed it so much; mission accomplished!!! :) We are also thrilled that you enjoyed your stay in the Tree House, which is one of our hidden gems. Perfect for small families, with the amenities and extra space of cottage, without the expense. We appreciate this marvelous, heartwarming review - and for sharing it with TripAdvisor Land...thank YOU. We look forward to having you visit us again next year.

Great location on the water and just a few minutes from the ferry landing by car. Nice rooms, Nice staff and the basics for breakfast. Parking is convenient and they rent bikes which will allow you to cruise the island in style, even if you aren't in great shape because the island is totally flat.

We have stayed at the Ocracoke Harbor Inn previously, but this review is about a stay that didn’t happen. Recently, we left a voice-mail that we had to cancel our reservation on the day of our expected arrival because the ferry service was not running due to the weather. The inn staff immediately returned our call and assured us they understood. The Ocracoke Harbor Inn cares about its guests, even when they can’t be there.

Well, thank you, thank you, thank you for this glowing review! OHI loves you back! You mentioned two things that are paramount to us...maintaining the property and our location. The whole staff works incredibly hard to keep everything in tip top shape, no matter how demanding the season is. We are situated right on Silver Lake, but slightly off the main areas; this allows us to maintain a quiet sanctuary for our guests, yet is still close enough to enjoy all that the village has to offer...we're thrilled that you enjoyed your stay with us, and on the sandbar. We stayed in one of the cottages, Treasure Chest. It was very clean, and had a nice view of the sound from the screen porch. Rented a bike and explored the island. Enjoyed a lite breakfast that the office provides and sat on chairs overlooking Silver Lake.

Ahhhhhhhh "Treasure Chest"....yes, indeed, one of the most beloved cottages, with the most outstanding view of Pamlico Sound. Everyone loves "TC"...with it's perfect floor plan, full kitchen, screened porch overlooking the water, quiet bedroom with a king bed, and off the beaten path...what's not to love? We are delighted that you rented bikes and explored the island; we ALWAYS encourage our guests to be out adventuring rather than looking at stupid screens! :) And, of course Silver Lake mesmerizes all visitors...you can spend hours just watching the harbor. We cannot rave enough about the accommodations. Our room was spacious and immaculately clean. Everything was a great shape, which is better than other hotels we visited previously. The breakfast is limited, but there are several good options. The dock and seating is nice for watching the action on Silver Lake. The green light at the fish cleaning station that comes on after dusk allowing people to view fish in the water was a delight. If we ever plan another stop in Ocracoke, we will stay with the Ocracoke Harbor Inn again!

Our travel plans were effected by Hurricane Ian, so I had to throw together a vacation at the last minute. We wanted a good place for shelling. Ocracoke Island was listed as one of the best in the South, and the Ocracoke Harbor Inn was the number 1 rated hotel on Trip Advisor, so I was determined that was where we would stay. To work around their availability, I had to book 3 different room types. I was able to stay in room 202, Margaritaville Cottage, and 109, so I got an excellent sample of the accommodations and service here. Let me tell you, this place is rated number 1 on Ocracoke for a reason! First off, when it looked as if Ian was going to effect the Island, I called with so many questions. Lisa patiently answered them all and gave me much needed reassurance. Upon arrival to the cottage, she had even written me a nice note and left me some beautiful shells to get me started! All 3 rooms were nice, but the cottage was our favorite. It had a beautiful view and was perfect for 2 people. Everyone was so wonderful throughout our whole stay. I couldn’t be happier with our decision to visit, and I would wholeheartedly recommend this Inn to anyone visiting the area. We will definitely be back! P.S. I don’t use my real name online ;)…

“Somewhere something incredible is waiting to be known.” – Carl Sagan Girlllll....you don't have to use your name; I know who this is! ;) While we are so sorry that your original shelling travel plans didn't work out, we are THRILLED and grateful that 1) you weren't in Sanibel when you were supposed to be, and 2) you discovered Ocracoke!!! You two were an absolute joy to have visit us, and we're tickled that you enjoyed your stay - in all types of the accommodations. Storms (or even potential ones) can be scary, and we know that not everyone is tuned into the wind, waves and tides like we are; that, coupled with hyped up media can make it even scarier...we're ALWAYS here to answer questions, keep you informed and help in any way possible. Communication is key to us. BUT, the other thing folks don't realize, and this is the best part - THE SILVER LINING- to a storm are THE SHELLS! The absolute best shelling is always right after a storm!! Scotch bonnets, helmets, whelks and olive shells galore... It's wonderful you were able to experience that, and find some of your own treasures. We are tickled that you enjoyed your stay with us, and fell in the love with the island.
