An en-route stop over which worked out better than expected. The room was on the small side and would not have suited us for more than one night. Very comfortable bed. Noisy cold tap if turned on quickly which sounded like an elephant, so wondered whether that was the same in all rooms? Corridor carpet needs replacing. Order your bar...

This was our second time visiting The Elephant for a two night stay, there were lots of things that made it a nice stay and some things that let it down, all things being said below I will be returning the the hotel as it is a special place for my husband and I: The good things: Lovely complementary products...

Staff took care of our every need at the all-day business meeting there. The evening meal was very good and the breakfast excellent. The hotel and the bedroom had an Indian/ colonial feel and the bedroom decor/ facilities were quirky, but very good. Will return.

We visited here as guests of friends that had booked out the function room for a Christening party. The venue was really lovely and the food provided was excellent. there was a lovely space in the garden for kids to play and a lot of the accommodation appeared to back on to the garden which would be lovely if you...

Good sized room which was more than spacious for my wife and myself, and our son (11). The hotel has done the best it can with the structure of the hotel, hence we can understand the quirkiness of the elephants everywhere to give it that difference. The breakfast was excellent and of good sized portions, my wife still talks about...

It was coming up to Christmas 2014 and my daughter and husband (who lived near reading) invited my wife, son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, and myself down to hers for Christmas. My wife and I decided that it would be nice Christmas present for us - and remove all the hassle of meals etc - for us all to stay in an...

This is a nice hotel, but expensive. The room in the main hotel that I stayed in was very small, with slightly noisy plumbing. My colleague stayed in the annex and did not sleep all night - likely due to the noisy boiler. Staff were initially disbelieving, which is not what you want when you are sleep deprived. Breakfast was...

Great room, great staff, great dinner and drinks in the pub and a yummy breakfast. The only downer was that at around midnight (it was a Saturday night) a group of about 10 v noisy local teenagers hung out in the car park underneath my bedroom windows for hours. Usual harmless suburban Saturday night behaviour but difficult to get any...

I may be biased because my son had his wedding there, but over two days it was simply perfect. Great rooms, fabulous food and amazing service from smiling, friendly staff who went out of their way to help.

we booked a last minute stay and paid extra money for one of the Executive rooms. Well worth the money. Really comfortable bed and the room was really quiet. It has had a small terrace which was great to sit on for a drink on a nice evening. We loved the quirky colonial style decor. Breakfast brilliant with really good...

Hi Xanthe - probably best to ask the hotel directly? Our room was marvellous but upstairs - don't know if there's a lift I'm afraid.
