We stayed at the George Hotel overnight as we were at a family occasion at a nearby hotel. The reception was not manned in the evening. The standard room was in need of repair, shabby, insufficient milk, one pot of which was off, we had to ask about the Wi-Fi and about getting back in later. Breakfast included sachet instant...

We called previous to our visit to check everything was finalised and we had our rooms etc, everything was fine. The day before we came we were told they booked us for the wrong day but managed to get in. When we arrived we were told there wasn't a room under our name. Having said we've spoken to the manager...

We are a small family business and very willing to accept fair crticism and to put them right. However, this is not fair, it is vindictive and an example of the type of hustling that can happen to hotels. I ill ot bother persuading you, but for the benefit of the public, this is what happened. Your family booked 3...

My husband and I had previously booked for just the one night as due to work commitments we couldn't guarantee if we would be able to be available the previous evening. Well, our circumstances did change and I contacted the hotel and to our dismay they were fully booked on the Friday however our Saturday booking still stood, however Rajinder...

stayed here as part of a big wedding group. check in was smooth, asked if wanted breakfast and partner said yes for both of us but I didn't actually want it. 7am before I had even thought about breakfast (and they hadn't even started cooking) i asked to cancel breakfast but they were unable to for some unknown reason which...

Thank you for your comments, they are valued. We have been in charge for about a year now, and we have been working hard to make improvements to the things that matter to guests. We have a rolling programme of redecoration/ renovations and made quite a lot of progress. It is an endless process. I am very sorry for the...

We were sold an upgrade to a 'premium' room..it was the size of a shoe box, goodness knows what the normal rooms are like. The web site says free wifi, (a major factor in booking), except that there was no wifi signal in the room and when my daughter asked at reception she was told that there was only a...

Very sorry you feel like this. I do apologise for the delay in checkout, this can happen sometimes if staff are busy seeing to other customers. The rest does not make sense, you will see from other reviews that our cleanliness and rooms are well regarded by most. They are not, for sure, a shoe-box, but I accept that you...

We visited under a Groupon voucher promotion for a meal. Two course steak meal with a glass of wine at a very reasonable price. This is a real place of character with plenty of low beams and original features. Its under new ownership since mid 2014 and a real effort is being made to make customers happy. Our meal was...

We visited The George Hotel on Friday night for dinner, first impressions were very good was greeted by a lovely girl who continued throughout the meal to provide impeccable and faultless friendly service. The starter was ok it was supposedly crispy chicken wings but undercooked and the skin was still very fatty and not crispy as stated on the menu....

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious steak lunch in the restaurant on 29th November. The sirloin steak was a little on the thin side but juicy and tasty. The vegetables were cooked al dente, just how we like them. Rita from Lithuania was an attentive and delightful waitress.

Hello Chris Thanks for the positive comments. I note what you say about the size of the steak. We do the 150g, but perhaps it is time to go for a bigger size. For now, the important thing is that our Chef continues to do a wonderful job.
