Just returned from Tapoco Thanksgiving buffet. The food was delicious especially the smoked turkey. The tastiest I have ever had. The lodge is beautifully decorated for Christmas. Definitely returning next year.

Just returned from a two night stay at the Tapoco Lodge and wanted to write a review about this lovely place. First, the main lodge area was all decked out for Christmas and looked amazing. The gift shop was full of stuff that kept our girls busy for at least an hour. Justin behind the front desk went out of his way to make us feel welcome, checking us in and helping us get our fire pit started. We stayed in one of the Alcoa rooms which was a very large two-bedroom, one bath villa with a hot tub on the deck, which was ready to go when we arrived. The room was very clean, well appointed with coffee maker, fridge, robes, soft towels and good beds. The breakfast buffet for $13 each was tasty, with scrambled eggs, potato casserole, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fruit, good coffee, cereal, sticky buns and a few other items. Supper in the tavern below the main floor was also good. Good selection of cocktails and beers. Pizza and burger were really good, and so was the fried trout. Hope took good care of us in the Tavern. Nearby there is the Dragan Tale road you can check out, along with the Fugitive dam. We spent one day in nearby Bryson City shopping and brewery hoping. We also hiked the Bear Creek Falls loop which was a nice stretch of the legs with a rewarding view. Great place to get away, lovely folks and a beautiful area.

I can only speak about the rooms in the Lodge. Very Clean, quiet and enjoyable. Very much an old 1930's vibe. This amazing old building has been well cared for without destroying its charm. I will say that if you are not interested in unplugging the Lodge rooms may not be for you as there are NO TELEVISIONS in the lodge rooms. They are located in the common areas and in the cabins. Every staff member, especially DAVE at the front desk, were amazingly friendly. Sitting on the banks of a rocky river with outside dining, fire pits added a relaxing atmosphere. This is a somewhat remote location with adventurous driving and beautiful scenery along the way. Do not expect shopping outlets or big corporation dining choices nearby. Nature lovers, water sports(rafting), driving enthusiast(4&2 wheel) & hikers etc. will enjoy the location.

Enjoyed a 2 night stay in this historic lodge. Accomodations were wonderful! The place was extremely busy but the staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Hot coffee and cider were available free of charge all during the day. The restaurant has a beautiful deck with views of the river below. There's also a sun deck to relax and take in the beauty. Lobby offers a beautiful fire place to warm up and there are fire pits on the property for use. Many hiking trailheads are on the property. For the motorcycle and fast car enthusiasts, the entrance to the Dragon's Tail scenic highway is just 2 miles up the mountain.

So they don’t take lunch reservations. Was there before and waited 30 minutes for a table. so you know, this place is at least 90 minutes from anything and there is nothing much else nearby. Today it was sunny, 72 and October when leaves are changing. Trying to avoid the crowd got there at 2:30. Said they were busy and had not anticipated this. So this caters to bikers and they didn’t think a beautiful October day would be busy? told they were closing the kitchen to new orders for 30 minutes, THEN it would still be another 30 minute wait. If you go, you take a chance you will have to wait a VERY long time. Of course, they could remedy this by taking reservations. I have eaten there before, and while the view is fantastic, food is very mediocre. But I was willing to put up with that. But NEVER again. Drive all that way and then can’t get seated. No way to run a business.

Hi Sendmehome, I hope you're having a fantastic day! We are nestled in between two national forests and have beautiful view in every direction. October's leave changing weather keeps us extremely busy. We cater to all guest. Only accepting reservations for guest staying over night but welcome everyone else on a first come first served basis in our Tavern. We do our best to keep up and make every experience at Tapoco amazing. Sometimes things happen and we just ask for patience while we catch up. My sincerest apologies that you were not satisfied with your personal experience. Valerie, Events/Marketing Manager
