Had to be near Shelby for an event and wanted to stay in town instead or “out on the highway with all the same chain spots”. The Morgan and Wells was awesome. The people (Melanie and Wanda) were great and so nice. The breakfast (Fred to chef) was great, only regret was an early flight the second morning so we couldn’t stay for breakfast. Rooms and atmosphere were great. Location enabled us to walk a few blocks into town instead of drive (which was great after having a few beers with locals who were also very nice. Overall great spot that I’d highly recommend. Jim from Ohio
Thank you Melanie and staff for hosting my brother, wife and son Saturday night! You squezzed them in (on short notice), let us meet them Sunday morning for a delicious breakfast and free range of a comfortable house. This was their second visit and will not be the last! Great job staff!
My wife and I celebrated our 41st anniversary at this property and completely enjoyed our experience. Our daughter got married a year ago and spent her wedding weekend there so we decided to celebrate our anniversary there. We were welcomed by the owner, Melanie (a fellow NCSU alum), who graciously give us a history of the place. The breakfasts were delicious and the service was great. Around the breakfast table, we discovered that four of the six people ( 3 couples from all around the globe) who were staying there, attended NCSU and at some point all worked for the same company! Small world!. The location is close enough to downtown to walk and visit the shops and tour the Earl Scruggs museum.
Melanie, Pam and their entire team made our daughter’s wedding weekend fabulous! We used the bed and breakfast as our home base for the weekend and couldn’t be happier with the accommodations, the food, the suggestions and the little extras that were part of our experience. We had a busy weekend but it was very comforting to know that whatever curve was thrown at us could be handled. Outstanding breakfasts, clean rooms, comfortable beds, fantastic location and very friendly and knowledgeable team. I highly recommend! 10 STARS!
Talk about a home away from home. Getting greeted by Pam who is expecting you, knows your name and treats you like she’s known you your whole life.. best bed and breakfast in the world and we’re world travelers! Thank you for caring for my husband and I during our stay for our anniversary, Melanie and Pam you’re the best!!
We loved our stay at Morgan and Wells. The owner is so sweet, as well as the staff. We had a rehearsal dinner in town, so we checked in quickly and did not make it back until after dark, but the ambience in the living area was so nice when we arrived back, with dimly lit lamps and smooth jazz playing. We made cups of tea and hung out in the living room for a few hours - it was a very nice night! The house has so much character, it is truly a beautiful place and we’ll taken care of. The breakfast in the morning was great as well. This was our first time staying at a Bed and Breakfast, it was a lovely homey experience.
We came to Shelby to visit our son and his girlfriend, who recommended this B&B. It was our first experience staying at a B&B as we usually stay at chain hotels. This was a fabulous experience! Melanie was a superb hostess and all staff were friendly and very accommodating. Melissa, the evening staff member, went out of her way to help us set up a family evening of pizza and board games. The historic house was amazing and the breakfasts were delicious. We would definitely recommend this B&B!
I recently stayed here with my husband and we really enjoyed our stay. The house manager was kind and made our visit pleasant. The room was comfortable, but I haven't mentioned the best part yet. The breakfast! We felt as if we had our own personal chef; everything was delicious. We will be back, and are already looking forward to it.
I don't casually give 5 stars on a review, but this site earned it. The old fashioned charm of the place captivated us. it was really pleasant. Then to have a private chef present breakfast - Fabulous ! Thank you for a great stay in Shelby.
My family and I stayed there for a wedding. We stayed for five days and Melanie took care of every detail for us. The rooms were nice and we really enjoyed the ambience and wonderful breakfast in the morning. Staying there made our trip. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else.
