The hotel was lovely, modern, and spacious! The staff was friendly, especially Kelly and Yael. The Assistant manager, Billy, made sure to ask about our experience. We will definitely stay in the future!
We stayed one night at this Hampton. We were working in the hot sun at a music camp all day and were pretty hot and exhausted when we arrived and the room was a welcomed relief! The AC cranked and the room was very comfortable. I didn't think the room was supposed to have a mini-fridge but it DID!! Yeah!!! The bed was the typical comfortable Hampton Inn Bed. The room was quite a bit smaller then most Hampton Inn rooms as some other reviews mentioned but still worked. It IS in a very small and kind of out of the way town of Shelby, NC. It is right next to a mall and has many restaurant choices of all kinds nearby. We went to Wings, etc, for a quick beer and some wings to hold us over till dinner (Pizza Hut Delivery to the room) and the beer was cold, the wings were crispy and flavorful and the bartender and patrons were friendly. Hope this helps!…
I stayed in room 209 on 1/11. I woke up at midnight feeling something crawling on my neck. I brushed it off and turned on light to see a little "beetle". I pulled back covers to find a total of 6 on my pillow and sheets! I felt sick knowing what they must be. I immediately called the front desk and told them to come upstairs. I slid the mattress away from the headboard to discover a full INFESTATION of bed bugs on the bed skirt in all sizes and life stages! By the time the desk clerk got to my room I was grabbing my stuff to leave. She offered me another room and I declined. I immediately put all my belongings in trash bags that she provided to me and told her I expect a refund. She told me the manager would call in the morning. At 1pm on 1/12 no one had reached out to me so I called and was told the manager was in a meeting. At around 4pm I received a phone call and apology for "you having to move to another hotel in the middle of the night" from the assistant manager. He said pest control was coming the next day to investigate and he would "keep me updated." I asked him if he went to my room and he said, "Yes, but I can't tell what I'm looking at." I said YOU'RE LOOKING AT BED BUGS! I then told him I was really surprised the manager didn't call me for something as serious as this and he said, "I can ask the manager to call you if you'd like." I told him NO I shouldn't have to ask for that phone call. I still haven't received an update on their findings, eventhough there is no mistaking what is in these pictures. Also, I thought I got off lucky with only 1 bite on my face that night. NOPE! 5 days later 11 itchy bites have shown up on my neck, right arm, and right breast. I was really scared that even after washing and drying everything straight from the sealed bags, I had brought some home until I googled and found out bites can take from a few days to 2 weeks to appear. I'll never get over the feelings of filth and disgust waking up to bugs crawling all over you and feeding off of you! It's sickening. I have included all the pictures but I know it can sometimes take a lot longer for them to be approved.…
The room was tiny. King size bed and appeared clean but small tv, no microwave, no refrigerator and only seating was desk chair. Wasn’t worth the room rate of $135. I would not recommend this location.
Loved staying here! Customer service was amazing at the front desk and the breakfast was amazing as well. Nice clean and organized! The room was nice and comfy. A little warm but nothing the AC couldn’t fix.
Warning--During our stay the hotel was fully booked and they didn't prepare for it. When my wife and I went down to breakfast 30 minutes before breakfast ended, there were no scrambled eggs, milk for cereal, bagels/pastries other than white bread, yogurt, etc. Staff told us that everything ran out because there were so many people. Our TV wasn't working properly. Finally, as a Hilton Honors Diamond member I like being able to checkin online to select a preferred room. This hotel does not allow online checkin. Too bad because staff were friendly and our room was clean, except for what looked like 1 piece of dog food on the floor when we arrived.
King room with no amenities- no refrigerator, no microwave, no USB ports. Very small room. Glad I only had to use it for sleeping! Very disappointed in a Hampton inn! The day manager didn’t seem too concerned with my frustrations so in my future visits to the Shelby area I will acquire other accommodations.
This hotel has the absolute nicest staff! Every single staff member was friendly and helpful…Even when the hotel was at full capacity. The hotel was a bit hard to find, tucked off the road behind the mall. But I would definitely stay there again if in the Shelby area.
I breezed into town on September 17th, making reservations at the Hampton from the road. I walked into the lobby and was surprised how crowded the room was. Guests were over taxing the staff with requests for water and other freebies. Once I finally got waited upon, I was given a room near the stairs on the second floor. The room was clean but there were several issues in its quality. Coming in tired from the road, the fact that the bathroom door had to be propped open with the trash can was a bit irritating. But what upset me the most was the strong smell of Marijuana wafting down the corridor and into my room. The lively guests were in multiple rooms. Since there was no exhaust fan, the smell could not be reduced. Some people don't understand that a no smoking is NO "smoking." The hotel staff did not seem bothered by the activity. With the bumbling door and the Marijuana smoke, the light in the bathroom kept flickering and there was no hair dryer. The next morning there was no coffee available in the lobby, only hot water and decaf. The food bar was deminimis....omelets were normal but the potatoes and sausage patties were poorly prepared. Needless to say, this Hampton Inn lacks a ton of professionalism and quality regarding guest treatment and services. Rules should be enforced no matter how intimidating the guests breaking house rules and the law may be. Fairfield will be getting my business on the next trip.…
We had to stay here for a concert as this was our only available option to get a shuttle. We were not told about shuttle times when we arrived so we missed hours of the show. Our room was not clean, we found cheese balls and an ear plug on the floor by the beds. Housekeeping doesn't come due to Covid which I understand but we kept having to track someone down to get a garbage bag or toilet paper or necessities. These should be more readily available if there isn't going to be housekeeping. There is a good selection for breakfast and I loved the waffles but the food to me, otherwise was just okay.
