This place has declined steadily. Bed spread had nail polish on it. Blanket had burn holes. Phone wasn't connected. Small tv. Room was cleaned and bedspread left on floor, remote was taken. Towels look like they were used to clean machinery and were threadbare. Pool was green. Soda machine virtually empty. Never again.
Stayed for two nights in July for a family event. I've stayed at 1 star and 4 star hotels and this place is a typical 2 star hotel. Meaning don't expect 4 star standards or services. The rooms are basic and what anyone would need for a short stay. Working mini fridge and microwave. TV and hot shower. The rooms could be cleaner. The breakfast is standard, just enough to get you going after a rough night. Meaning basic starches like breads, oatmeal, waffles and cereal. Some fruit and juice is also available. Don't expect a hot bfast buffet, you don't come to hotels like this for the food. There are good points about this hotel. They are pet friendly and have a large field out back to walk your dog. The location is right next to a Bojangles if you want quick food. They have a pool. And most importantly, they respect my privacy. People have different expectations when it comes to hotels. For me, all I want is a clean bed to rest my head and be left alone with my dog. This hotel accomplished that.…
It’s an okay stay. Beds are not very comfortable, walls are thin. Could use some updating. Pool was always full and people in and out of the parking lot at all hours. Did leave my blanket and pillow there, and they held it until I returned after going home for the weekend. Breakfast was pretty much toast and waffles.
My room was spacious, the carpet was new, and the room was freshly painted. The beds are a little bit hard in the Linens could absolutely use a update. The shower and the sink have wall unit disposal liquid soap. I believe it is dial, it is pretty nice nothing to write home about. On a whole the hotel is okay, it's not great, it's not horrible, it's okay. If you're in a pinch, and you want to save some money this might be a good place to put your head down for one night.
The hotel is old and the paint is peeling from the walls and the towels are probably the ones they originally purchased for the hotel because they feel like sand paper on your skin. The breakfast had absolutely no protien unless you want to count the milk on you cereal. Also, the only hot items were toast and waffles. The only redeeming qualities were the staff who truly seemed concerned with all our needs and managed to fulfill them without any delays or problems.
The hotel is pretty run down, not very clean. Furniture in the room was very dirty. Breakfast was sad. On the plus side the staff were great. I get there late, around 10 pm. The front desk clerk called ma on my cell around 9 pm to check on me which was a nice touch. I only stayed 1 night and was alone so, for the money, I tolerated it.
I came up to NC for a church conference with my friend and we didn't really know where we were going to stay because the hotels we preferred were booked up and then we found The Best America Value Inn and we came and met Paul. Paul was at the front desk and he pulled up our reservation we made on Expedia and we ended up cancelling the Expedia reservation because Paul presented us with a better deal and he was so patient with helping us call the travel agency to cancel. He made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. His hospitality made it easier for my self as well as my friend to feel at home in an unfamiliar place. When ever I come up to Shelby, NC I'll be sure to stay here and talk to Paul.
We enjoyed our visit to Shelby for the American Legion World Series. Could not have asked for a better place to stay than Americas Best Value in. The rooms were clean and the staff was great. Would recommend to all
Thanksgiving day, I made a reservation for a non-smoking room. We showed up at midnight to check into our room. After going into the room, I immediately noticed a cigarette smell. I called the front desk and explained that I had reserved a non-smoking room. The clerk responded, "Oh, someone must have been smoking in there." No, kidding Sherlock, 'that's what I just told you. Anyway, he continued, "there's nothing I can do". I said, "nothing you can do. I made a reservation for a non-smoking room and that's what I expect." He repeated that there was nothing he could do at least twice more. Then I responded, "Well, who do I need to speak with regarding a discount because of this stinking room you put me in?" Then he miraculously found another available room. After checking into that room, I noticed that not only did is smell like cigarettes, but the bathroom was also dirty. Someone had thrown up next to the toilet and the remnants were still on the wall next to the toilet. It was past midnight and I was dead tired. Did I mention the brownish colored bath towels, the filthy chair in the room and the spots on the sheets? AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.…
Stayed at the ABVI in Shelby. The Staff here was very nice and cooperative. The room has a refrigerator, microwave, ironing board, iron, desk, and a small table with two chairs. The bathroom had a bathtub, sink and a toilet which was not fastened well to the floor on one side, thus causing it to rock side to side. The carpet was clean in the middle, but dirty in the corners, not the worst I have seen, but could be better. The beds were comfortable, clean and I slept well. The room smelled musty when first entering it, but I guess you get used to it as I did not notice after spraying the room with my trusty Febreze spray. For some reason, the bathroom smelled of cigarette smoke when the exhaust fan was used. The motel offers a continental breakfast in the mornings which consist of cereal, muffins, honey buns, waffles, juice and coffee. No coffee in the rooms or available in the lobby after breakfast. There is also a nice pool that was very clean and the kids that were swimming in it seemed to be having a nice time. Easy access off W. Dixon Blvd.…
