Our room had a steam shower, a sauna, and an outdoor tub. The tub held the heat well for a nice long soak. The food was outstanding and there was plenty of information about local hiking trails. The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgable. The Swag is a real treat and I highly recommend it. The views are some of,...

To say this place is special an understatement. The welcome by the staff sets the tone for an excellent experience, and that welcome continues throughout your stay. We stayed in the "two-story" and found it to be immaculate with excellent daily make-up and turndown service. (In fact, the whole place is immaculate!) It is very roomy with beautiful and functional...

My wife surprised me with a trip to the Swag for our 35th wedding anniversary. After looking at the website....I had high expectations and they were exceeded in every way. Our room, the cabin, was perfect....the location superb.....food at every meal was excellent as was the service. But what set it apart was the sense of family....Deener and Dan go...

Perfection!! Wow!! An amazing experience. My only regret is that we were only able to spend one night here. We stayed in the Salmon room and it was wonderful but I think every room is wonderful. Your every need is taken care of. From parking the car upon arrival, a tour of the lodge, the views are just amazing. The...

My friends, two other women, hike each year and this year we tried The Swag. Perfect location, adjacent to the Southern border of The Great Smokies National Park. Although we like to hike all day (and that is right out the door at The Swag) we like to relax in comfort when we return. Our room was totally comfortable, equipped...

Wow! Think of a perfectly gorgeous 5,000 ft. Elevation, mountain-top mini resort......the word "retreat" comes to mind....... With only 16 or 17 rooms, hosts that are excited that you are there, and are perfect hosts, down to place cards at meals, so that everyone gets a chance to socialize ( or not! You can request a private dining table, if...

This is our first trip and it exceeded our expectations. This is a place to totally get away from the outside world. Only one TV in the entire lodge and I never saw it turned on. Located adjacent to the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. Because of its location you feel as if the park is all yours. Many hiking...

Absolute five star experience without any pretension. Owners Dan and Deener Matthews and their staff are hosts unparalleled; in fact, the only thing that can overshadow their hospitality are the 50 mile mountain vistas and the back door access to the trails of Great Smoky Mountain Park. We stayed in the Bishop's Room, which I think was a mid-level room,...

The Swag is one of the most peaceful places on the planet. Perched at 5,000 feet, the only high rises are the mountains themselves. They rise like shifting sand in the view from the Inn, wearing boas of clouds. Thankfully, there are NO TV's is this rustic hiking resort. Adjoining the Smoky Mountain National Park, trails are numerous, ranging from...

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at The Swag. It is such an incredible place! The setting is heavenly. The people who work there are super friendly and helpful. The food is delicious also.
