The hotel is very clean and inviting,. The staff is friendly and accessible. We appreciated the inviting reception area, the clean rooms and comfortable bed. The breakfast was very good with many options and accoutrements. Most noticeable was how well Jolene kept the breakfast room spotless as she worked efficiently with attention to each detail. Thank you!

Great place to stay, clean comfortable, grandson had a great time swimming. Only saw one person staffing the entire hotel. That young man was busier than a one armed wallpaper hanger. He was super friendly during this super busy evening trying to checkin guests, which was a full hotel on this Saturday evening, setup a room with a rollaway bed, fold towels for the pool area which was out of towels. My daughter in law offered to help him get towels folded and delivered but he declined. We felt extremely sad for this guy running the entire place by himself.

Our room had 3 bath towels for the four of us that checked it, but we did not complain to the front desk because he was so busy.

For safety reasons this place should have had more staff working. “Kudos” to the young man working last night. If I could get this young man to come work for me, I’d hire him in a heart beat.

Management here needs to be looked into, no excuse for the understaffing of a full hotel being run by one person.

The property looked new and well maintained. Our double queen room was large and very comfortable, The tub/shower looked new but was a little slippery (it did have hand bar on one end). There was a pool and spa but we didn't try it out. The breakfast was average with a reasonable selection given the pandemic restrictions. All the staff were friendly. The rates were very reasonable especially given the quality of this hotel. Definitely recommend this hotel.

I chose the Fairfield Inn in Jamestown because of good reviews on Trip Advisor, but my experience was not positive. I understand that anyone can have a bad day, or occasionally something slips through the cracks, but there were multiple problems. I do thank the day clerk on the morning of September 14 for giving us a discount in light of our experience.

I called the hotel directly for a room (my usual practice on a long road trip, which works wonderfully 99% of the time). The AAA discount rate the night clerk quoted me was $40 higher than the regular rate on the hotel’s own website which I’d seen earlier that morning. When I asked about the higher price, the clerk told me, “No, that’s the price we’ve always had.” Customer care tip #1: Don’t lie. If you can’t offer phone reservations at the same price as online reservations, I might not like it but I’d understand. But don’t start off by lying about the rates. Given this falsehood, I went back to the hotel website and yes, got the rate I’d originally seen, which was NOT an “internet special.”

To make the online booking, I had to enter AAA #, credit card, my address — all the usual information. Yet when we checked in (yes, I’m pretty sure it was by the same person who had lied to me on the phone) — it took 10 or so minutes because the clerk entered all this information anew. I don’t know whether the problem was the Fairfield Inn computer system or the night clerk, but it was a long wait.

At checkin we were given room 316. There was a huge stain on the sofa of the “ewww” variety. When we told the night clerk, she said, “Oh, probably the construction guys were in there.” Not a professional response! What about “I am so sorry, we’ll take care of it first thing. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.” At our request, we got another room.. The couch in #318 had a similar but not as noticeable stain (it looked like bodily secretions), and when my partner sat on the opposite end of the couch he got whiffs of urine. There was also an 18” crack in the wall of the shower, and the sink had about a 1” crack. Finally, I am never picky about motel breakfasts, but the eggs and sausage were so salty I put them in the trash.

The multiplicity of problems says “poor management” to me. In particular, I don’t blame the housekeeping staff — I’m willing to bet they are swamped with regular work and reported the room problems but never had anyone follow up with deep cleaning and maintenance. The desk clerk problems could be solved by better procedures and training.

I was disappointed in our stay. This hotel is tired. Front desk people tried, but honestly seemed to lack proper training. We had booked for 3 nights and when we came back after our first day, our keys did not work. We went to the desk for help and found that the person that checked us in only made the keys for one day. I tried the pool one day and swimming was impossible, definitely geared towards children. Pool towels were a disgrace, they were rags. Tiny and some were so thin you could see through them. Many were tattered. Management does not seem to be paying attention. Towels in the room were a bit better, but still old and some were thin and tattered. No liners in the trash cans, so we couldn't put our trash out. Housekeeping was by request, and I have no problem with that, but I usually will put out my trash. Honestly, am I really at a Marriot? Very poor storage in the room with a cabinet dedicated to an ironing board. What? Is this 1967? Give us more room to hang clothes and let those that want to iron on vacation ask for those items, it would not be many folks, I am sure. Housekeeping staff were very friendly and seemed to be working hard. My issues are with management, these details need to be monitored.

This was our second time staying at this hotel. The first time we had no problems.
Our second visit, our room was very dirty. Multiple stains on the mattress pad, that were very visible. There was urine all around the toilet seat and hand prints all over the room. Pink bacteria in the sink and black dirty shower curtain. Dirty towels on top of the cabinets. I think the standard of cleaning was below zero. We were told they had no rooms available to switch to, so we would have to checkout with all our luggage and come back at 3 for a new room. The morning/afternoon front desk girl was rude and very unprofessional. She didn't even apologize once for any of the inconvenience. I called and left a message with the assistant manager and never received a phone call back. We will not stay at this hotel again for the lack of customer service plus the new room that we checked into wasn't much better for cleanliness.

This hotel is not the worst, but I would not stay here again. There seemed to be a million kids running back and forth to the pool leaving wet puddles everywhere. The housekeeping staff was trying, but our room was not what I would consider what a clean room should look like. The staff at the desk also seemed overwhelmed with the chaos.
The hotel is located near a Walmart and dining, but this is a one-night stay hotel for sure.
The breakfast was very limited even though we got a full breakfast at other hotels we stayed at on our trip. The good thing was gluten-free oatmeal packets. My kids were wanting eggs and sausage and not so many sweet choices.

Obviously anyone who has stayed here knows about the extremely rude breakfast lady. My question is why has nothing been done to remedy her attitude? Stayed here 4 nights and by the 2nd morning I decided to get my own breakfast elsewhere. Terrible selection. Unless you’re into a pre made eggo in a ziploc bag. Milk was in gallon jugs that sat in a mini fridge with no lids on them all day. I had chosen to make a cup of oatmeal with milk instead of water. The rude breakfast staff lady approached me and said, “there’s no microwaves down here, that’s why the hot water is right there”. She grudgingly took my oatmeal and heated it up for me. I’d have used the microwave in my room if she hadn’t insisted on taking it from my hand. Next day, I’m filling a small water bottle with the water they have in the breakfast area. She then told me there’s a fountain down the hall. Breakfast warmers had signs that made it sound like you might be getting a decent sandwich. In reality, you open the lid to find pre heated wrapped jimmy dean (gas station) sandwiches. The room wasn’t very clean at all. Looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed. The pool deck was atrocious. There was food, bandaids, even an earring along with other garbage all over it. I didn’t feel comfortable barefoot. The water fountain in the pool area was covered in rust/mold. The slides weren’t turned on and myself along with 4 other families and children waited over an hour for the front desk attendant to turn them on. Before any of this, they had messed up the dates my group was staying. I had arrived to check in, waited about 25 minutes to get to my room. Unpack, get settled in, and then the room phone rings. It was the front desk saying they needed that room for the weekend (it was Monday, my checkout was Friday) and I needed to move downstairs to a different room. This hotel is great as far as a pool area is concerned for kids (with water shoes on), but all in all, I’d rather stay across the street at the Hampton.

Dogs are allowed at this hotel but only very small dogs that weigh 20 pounds or less. At least the person at the desk was friendly and apologetic about denying us a room because our dog is between 20-50 pounds. We had to keep looking for a place to stay with tired kids and a dog in the car.

The staff does not communicate with each other at all and it makes it impossible to have a comfortable stay. If you need to make any changes to your reservation, such as a late check out or an extension of days in a room, make sure you tell every staff member. If not, the only person that will know is the person you told and they don’t do anything with the information which will inevitably end in frustration.
