Where to start? unfortunately there is not a possibility to rate this place with 6* what does a B&B, a restaurant, a locality is not just it individuality, it is the aggregation of all this factors, and Panela Africa definitely managed to incorporate itself in the fantastic Ibo Island (it is a typical remodeled house) with wonderful rooms and fantastic... Hi everyone, I have been several times to Panela Africana during my stay on Ibo in May 2014. The house and the garden are full of flowers and Sergio, running the place when the french owner is away, makes excellent coffee for breakfast and serves very tasty devilled chicken (frango zambeziana). Very good value for the money and always good... More

Located a bit nearer the village than some of the other places which gives it a nice vibe, has garden area for relaxing. Rooms are basic but charming and remain cool even in crushing heat, though are a little dark. We stayed in both. The front one has a nicer layout but is noisier with staff arriving in the morning... We stayed 4 nights at Panela Africana and the overall experience was great. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. The breakfast is very good and varied over time. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Stephane, the owner, is also organising boat trip to go snorkelling, to the sand bench or to the nearby Island. His organisation is very professional,... More

We stayed for 3 nights in one of the beautifully decorated rooms. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, the breakfast was great, and the lunch/dinners were definitely the best we ever had in Mozambique. Stéphane, the French owner and chef, was away when we were there, but Jamal, his cook from Pemba, also prepares wonderful food. Even if you... More

I had one dinner at this place and it was without doubt the best meal I ate on my seven week trip to Southern Africa. The quality of the dishes was unquestionably first class and the atmosphere in the tiny courtyard garden was wonderful. Stephan, the owner and chef, uses only ingredients available on Ibo Island so the menu is... More

It was just the perfect stay: we truly loved it. First of all, Panela Africana is where you want to eat all your meals. Stefan (the owner) has won several national prices in France as number one chef in the country!!!! Gida his wife (from Mozambique) also cooks fabulously. They have combined a mix of exotic and french cuisine that... More

If you are looking for a traditional place where to spend your stay in Ibo, the Panela Africana is just the right choice. It only has 3 bedrooms around a very cozy courtyard, all with private bathroom (there is not a proper pipe system yet, so hot and cold water for showering will be provided in buckets. This type of...
