Vehzen is an all-inclusive resort at the budget end of the range. Architecture is concrete Eastern European of a few decades ago. Furniture is functional, but the bed was comfortable. Air conditioning and shower worked fine. Bathroom came with hair dryer, towels and soaps. There is a fridge in the room.

All was clean. Staff friendly and English spoken. Efficient reception. No safe in the room but safety storage boxes in reception.

Sea view from the higher floors but trees block the view lower down. All rooms have a balcony and pool view.

Wi-fi was slow at times and also stopped for a few hours. There is limited parking, but there is street parking nearby.

Vehzen is one of a muddle of hotels and apartment blocks on a hillside a little way out of Golden Sands. The roads and paths are poorly surfaced and navigation is not straightforward. GPS worked well.

Walking to St Constantine and Helena takes about an hour along the coast in one direction, while the centre of Golden Sands is 40 minutes in the other direction. Aladja Monastery is about a 50 minute walk and mostly through the picturesque forest of a nature reserve.

Food was buffet style but varied each day. Little vegetarian choice. All inclusive gives a limited range of drinks, but includes one local fizzy beer, wine and some cocktails. There is a restaurant, with inside and outside seating, and a pool bar.

The pool is clean and fairly large with a shallow area for children. Lifeguard on duty. Sun loungers were not all occupied.

There is no entertainment programme, just piped music at the pool bar. There is table tennis, a pool table and pin ball machine.

This is a basic hotel that provides value for money, not a luxury holiday experience.

Nice sea view, but that’s all…bad experience with the staff.. first of all : lack of knowlegde of any foreign languages (english/german/french), secondly they don’t know their job (reception ppl)…poor breakfast. At least the view from the room was nice.

Me and my boyfriend were there for the 1st time, as well 1st time in Bulgaria and we enjoyed a lot, every minute spent there! We had a short stay, just for a week-end, for 3 days, but enough to make a very good impression. The hotel has a very beautiful yard, with all kinds of trees, grass and flowers...the terace has fruity trees that makes you feel as in granma's yard...the food is decent and plenty of it (I must make a remark that it is a 3* hotel, not a 5* one - for the ones that have vey high expectations at small prices), chicken meat, pork meat, vegetables, salads, sauces, pastas, soups (the only thing I didn't like so I didn't eat, was the salamy, the ham and the juice at the breakfast, but it was plenty of other things to eat like eggs cooked, boiled, omlet, danish cheese, vegetables, fruits, cereals, milk and yogurt, jam, pate, pancakes, so no one can say that they get hungry from there). As it concerns the drinks, the beer is really good and cold, but they also have sodas from Coca-Cola gama, wine, coffees and icecream.
We went there with vouchers, so we paid 25% less for our stay, but they gave us a room at the last floor so we could enjoy an incredible sea view in the morning and also at night, when the moon was up, so this was a really nice surprise for us (all the other floors could not see the black sea because there is the tree garden and they can only see the pool which is also very nice, being sorrounded with trees and flowers)...the towels very clean, the room very clean...not luxury, but for us, it is important to be clean first, so this was really respected in the hotel and we were very pleased by that. The pool is very nice and clean and the beach is 10 mins walk from the hotel, another good thing. The guys there, are always attentive and nice, those from the restaurant, take your empty plates immediately...and even if they speak a really bad english :D they are always smilling and make you feel confortable...so all these make it a nice place to come back again. :)

Seriously awful food, trust me, I'm not demanding, I'm vegetarian, vegetables weren't fresh and I didn't suppose it's possible to ruin vegetarian dish. Everyday same meals. Service also on such a low level, workers are here probably for punishment, cleaning very sketchy. Never again. Better avoid this place.

One of the worst places I ever been and a Holiday I want to forget as soon as possible!
I really appreciate the receptionists’ (with a good English communication skills) attitude and willingness. It’s nice to meet people like them among the personnel.

Despite this fact, the Hotel Vezhen website is many false and (in my humble opinion) tricky and misleading information:
I. The hotel is not situated at a 300-500 meters distance from the beach! It last at least 15 minutes to reach the seashore, wherever is the direction you go. And I may say there are more than 500m in straight line.
II. The hotel is presented as having “double rooms”. Arrived there we find just twin rooms, as the manager confessed us with shame.
III. The internet wireless connection it works just in the entrance lobby and on the staircase (a little). Sometimes!

Even it has a three stars ranking, the hotel is (at most) a 2 stars one.
1. I had a big hole in the mattress, next to the place where the pillow was.
2. In my room (509), the bathroom door couldn’t be closed, because the floor was too close to the door.
3. The wardrobe could be funny if the balance of the walls hadn’t been dangerous to open or to close it.
4. The shower ad been broken, spitting all over. Fortunately, the plumber was effective…
5. You won’t have warm/hot water in the evening (6-8 pm) because it “doesn’t rise” to the 5th level. Do you think funny to have the wet and full of shampoo hair at 15 C degrees? You may consider to think better 24h after, waiting in the Varna’s St. Anna Hospital, trying to find someone who speaks English…
6. Ah, the hotel as a First Aid Case. Maybe well equipped but missing the medical thermometer.

Additional:
A. I consider inappropriate the vacuum cleaner noise at 2, 3 or 4 pm even the guests are informed the noise penalty cost a 20EUR. Just asking, it is not applicable to the personnel?
B. The same personnel in a 3 stars hotel will change your towels every 3 days (!). And has a special passion for the guests’ towels. Even they let 2 in the bathroom, were very determined to get mine’s 3 fine, soft and silky Indian cotton towels from the room… And I’m still waiting for one of them (may I say “stolen”?).
C. It’s subhuman, disgusting and under any possible understanding the hotel’s owner behavior who (at 1 pm, on Friday, August, 12th) was dusting his snickers over his 5th level room balcony. Completely unbelievable!

I dare to advise you about the food and the menu:
• It’s hard to believe a 3 stars hotel with almost 75% foreign tourists has just a Bulgarian language written menu. But it’s true! You cannot have any clue about what you eat or will eat…
• This shouldn’t be a problem, anyway, because every morning you will have almost 95% of the breakfast. Just one or two changes, every day.
• Prepare yourself for watermelons, plums and pears! You will have it any meal, any time. At least, they could try to be a little creative, I don’t know
• For example, if you have pasta, eggs, cheese or meat in the morning you will discover it at lunch or dinner too, processed and reprocessed. And if you are lucky, you may found it on the same tables until the next day evening.
• (Poor coffee, juice or ice-cream. Ones of the worst ever! But this is a personal opinion…)

The last but not the least, are you sure you wanna go in Chayka?
i. It is no Pharmacy, no Doctor, no medical assistance.
ii. Awful streets for your car (be aware the quality of the asphalt it similar, no traffic signs)
iii. Just a few bars, patios or restaurants, no chance to spend your evenings. Only if you go to Golden Sands or Sveti Konstantin I Elena. Both nice places, especial the first one… But pretty far to enjoy it

For the first time I was in Bulgary at Vezhen Hotel. A really nice place. I spent a week there and I enjoyed every minute of it. The room was really nice, there were some problems with the bathroom, but they fixed them really fast. The pool is beautifull and so the view. The Golden Sands are a little bit far(1.2 km), but it is a nice walk. The food was pret good. All you can ask for a 3 * hotel. The only minus was that it's hard to find, but it's a quiet place, just good to relax and forget about the craziness of the city. Hope you will enjoy!

Nice rooms with balcony and beautiful pool view. The stuff was very friendly and had an appropriate attitude towards small children! It was quiet and the food was average but there was plenty of choice each time. The hotel was really hard to find and was far enough from the beach.

It took me some time to cool down and write this without emotion.
Thankfully we decided for B&B option not ALL inclusive, because we would be even more disappointed than we were.

For the plus you can count the surroundings and quite nice swimming pool.
That's all.

At the first day somebody from kitchen service knoced to our door asking for insuline. (?!) I said that there is no any in our fridge, it was empty when we checked in. Obviously he didn't understand what I have said, so receptionist from hell came. I said the same thing and she passed me and she went straight away to fridge and started taking out our stuff from fridge!!

The food was poor quality. I think they served the cheapest things, which they could find. Scrambled eggs was made from some mixture from the plastic bag. Even tomatoes didn't taste like they should. Meals were monotonous. The food was so plastic.. I felt sorry for people, who choose to eat dinneres there.

Luckily we have found some nice spot called "Mimi". It's on the corner. They served good quality meals in good prices. I highly recommend to try fish soup and pielmieni dumplings.

The room service was lazy. You had to asked for a toilet paper and fresh towels.
They have pretended to clean the bathroom by pouring Domestos to outflow, so you can smell the bleach.. Mattres was ripped and had stains.

Ech..

The location of the hotel was like in a jungle. The alley leading to the hotel started with trashcans, looked very unpleasant.
The bathrooms handle fell in my hand the first time i grabbed it, and the drains were rusty. Be careful what towel you are taking with you. Mine resembled very much with the hotel towels so one day they took it. Fortunately for me, i got it back two days later.
The food was really poor. Only one type of soup every day. The supper was made out of leftovers mainly, pizza, sausages. You had to hurry and be among the firsts when the meals were served.
On the good side the hotel's pool was clean, and the bartender over the pool was very friendly and helpful. And the price for a September month and all inclusive was good.

No, there is not. You have to go to Golden Sands if you want to go clubbing. You can go there by bus/cab/walk. I hope that you will find this useful after 7 months :p
