I stayed 8 days at Preslav Hotel between 15 and 22 July. It is quite close to the beach, it has a clean pool that closes at 5 p.m., the staff is kind and willing to answer your questions. The food is good and various, though there is too much oil fried salami and sausages, yet many salads and fruits, home-made cookies and natural juice. What I didn't like was that they never changed towels or sheets in those 8 days! And also the fact that because the hotel has only 3 levels, it doesn't have an elevator. Persons with locomotor disability should definitely avoid this hotel. For its price it's very good.

I stay 10 days at 2-nd floor, at room no. 213 with a beautiful forest wiew. I have only breakfast, but was verry diversified with plenny dishes, like 4 difrent dishes with eggs, 4 difrent tipes of salami,2 diferent sauseges, 2 tipe of cheese, ingredients for Bulgarian salad (tomatos, cucumber, salad, olives), 3 tipe of marmelade, milk, coffe, 3 soft drinks, butter, 4 tipe of bread, 4 diferent cereals, various fruits and ather dishes for breakfast.
The staff was verry friendly, helpfull with a pleasant smile for all the turists.
The room are 16 m2 with furniture in good condition, 2 single bad, big window, telephone, A.C., TV with international cable, small frige and balcony with 2 chairs and 1 small table.
The hotel is verry close at the sea, in 5 minutes, across the forest and you go to the beach. Is good in the heat of the sun, a cool forest. Have a pool with clean wather with 1,30 meters untill 1,90 meters deep.
The interior garden is verry relaxing with trees and roses away from big noises of the resort.
This hotel is like a medieval house, with big walls, interior garden and sorround with a nice forest.

Stayed one week with the family. The value is ok for ***. The location is in a quiet area, close to the beach. Breakfast was included, wi fi available in the room. Giorgi from the reception was very nice.

We were there from 21 until 24.06.2013. I hesitated very much on writing a review, because in general, I make reviews for places/hotels we enjoyed the time spent and like to advise people to go there. Besides, never happened to us such an experience.I also regret that I did not look BEFORE on other travelers reviews. But at the beginning the offer we got on paper reflected a very good balance between price and services. In practice it proved to be a garbage. We had and still have the feeling that we were back in time 25-30 years.
Good points:The hotel has a small swimming pool (clean and not smelling of chlorine) and a bar (from 11-17 hrs, serving beer, some-very poor- juices and all diluted).
The hotel has a a nice back garden with trees and flowers (also squirrels!) and only a few tables (pity).
Location: at about 2-3 min walking from the beach. But in that area the sandy beach is very narrow ( umbrella= 8 lv, chair= 12 lv/person), of course it is a free zone but it is very crowded.
Bad points:
Rooms: our room was just above the main entrance and it was very, very noisy. At 6,45 some children in summer camp were making gymnastics, then came the vans bringing the catering foodstuff, and finishing from 20,30-22,30 with the musical program for children which was unbearable loud. The AC is not running in the rooms -only as a fan- although in the lobby and restaurant it was running, so you must leave the balcony door opened.
Restaurant:undersized, it has 100-120 places (the hotel has 150 rooms, dbl and family rooms), covering roughly half of the tourists number.
Food: really DISGUSTING, it is all inclusive but at breakfast they serve milk from powder, butter smelling rancid (maybe it was margarine-also rancid), as coffee they have chick pea drink because as we were told on an aggressive tone "natural" coffee has to be paid, and this is valid for the entire hotel.
The food is in general like hospital food, no taste, no salt or other aroma. Same menu from morning until dinner repeated every day and in general no vegetables eatable one day I found boiled cauliflower, but without any taste). The meat was the worst and cheapest quality. They make economies on EVERYTHING. This is mean!!
Staff attitude: on our opinion THIS is most important! All the time they looked angry, upset, disgusted of life, like they were slavers put on forced labor. They were turning around in the lobby just doing nothing but "X-ray" the tourists.
In conclusion, much to my regret, i cannot grant them but "O" points. Do not go there, because their mentality will not change from a day to another, and besides, you can find a lot of other nice and friendly hotels.Sorry, I had to make such a review, but maybe it will help somebody.

First - about the golden sands and Varna - I had a feeling that I arrived in a country of thiefs.
Of course I was cheated at Money exchange, how I understand later, like majority who came in Golden Sands and change money not at the bank, most bulgarian are very rude and unpolite, so you need to be prepared of that and be every time aware of burglars.

Hotel - cheap and old.
The only good point for me - very quite ! I wanted this, is surrounded of a park, away from the road full of cars and drunk turists.
Not very far from the beach 5-7 min walk.
My room was very modest but i didnt have big expectation for it. BUT where were the thick curtains to keep me away from courious eyes during the day and night ?? It was realy strange for me that there were only transparent curtains.
The food - really, quite normal, fruits, fish, meet, you can find and choose whatever you like for sure.
But the hotel NEED RENOVATION!!! I had the feeling that I'm in the past, 15-20 yaers ago and is a big pity because it has a really good location.

We have been to Hotel Preslav in the middle of August. We spent 5 days there. This hotel is so close to the beach and a lot of restaurants and shops, too, but there is a forest what surrounds the hotel, so we can also relax. The food was wonderful we can choose from the local specialties to the international dishes. This 5 days was all inclusive so we can drink at the lobby all day soft and alcoholic drinks too. Thank you for the staff that they always help us if we need. They made our holiday unforgottable because they were always friendly, happy and funny. We will go back to Hotel Preslav as soon as possible! :)

I only give one point because I can't give a negative. I don't even know where to start. First, they call us while we were on our way there to tell us that the rooms that were supposedly booked for us nearly a month before our vacation were double (maybe triple or more) booked so they have to put us in a suite for 2 nights and then move us to two double rooms. When we got there the lady working the front desk looked like she had no idea where she was. She had no information about the offer the hotel had. And she wasn't the only employee who was completely incompetent. No one told us where the room so I had to go around and look for it. I met two maids on the way who could't help me either. One of the bartenders was nowhere to be seen most of the time.
As for the room, it reeked like cigarettes and didn't look like it was cleaned after the last occupants. There were squashed bugs all over the walls, blood and everything. The bed was very uncomfortable. There were springs or something poking out. The sheets were so worn out they had holes in them. And some of them had stains.
The restaurant wasn't 3* either. The food itself wasn't bad but some plates would run out almost immediately and either not get replaced at all or get replaced after at least 30min. The capacity of the restaurant wasn't even nearly enough to sit all the guests so you had to stand aside with your plate and wait for someone to finish eating. It was unbearably hot and your clothes soaked up all the different food smells.
Didn't go to the pool so I can't say for sure but it didn't look exactly appealing. It smelled very strongly of chlorine even from afar and didn't look very clean.
When we didn't get what we were promised we asked for the manager and the front desk girl said that even if she could reach him there is nothing he could do.
Do yourselves a favor and DON'T go there!!!

I`m not a complainer but this is really very poor hotel. We wouldn`t go even for free to that hotel again. I`m just being honest . People who go there will have a big dissapointment like we did.
The food was discusting and cold. I even don`t cosider this as food , this was something else. Room and bathroom just looked ugly , it was like a step 20 years back. Uhh.. very terrible !!

This hotel has a good position, we enjoyed our stay there between 6 - 13 August. The food wad good and variate, restaurant is old but clean and nice. The hotel personal is kind and helpful. The sand beach is close to the hotel, aprox. 150 m.
In conclusion everything is ok there, but some renovations for rooms are necessary.
