Unable to add the restaurant as its own entity - Pacific Moon Rising - horrible meal… after touring NZ and Fiji for over 2 months, this was totally our worst meal. After their kitchen not having food after 7pm on Tuesday, we made a reservation for Wednesday evening at 6pm. We showed up to be told that they didn’t have our reservation and they did not have a window seat (we actually popped in at lunch and witnessed the manager writing our names in the book & she noted that we had requested a window seat)… Should have known better and turned around right there and then…. There was a “reserved table” behind us that eventually had the sign removed after we were there for 40 minutes. Took a bit for my beer - understandable - they had to change out the keg… but seemed to take a bit longer than normal.. Hubby ordered the Sockeye Salmon and I ordered the Steak Sandwich - we were going to share…. We got there at 6pm…. Our meal came out shortly after 7pm. Only hot items were the carrot on the salmon and the onion rings on the steak. Everything else, at best was lukewarm. The steak was well done instead of medium and very small - they sliced it - 6 slices. Hubbies salmon was also quite small. Food was tasty, and would have been great if a bit warmer…. Except the fries - I think they dug those out of their dish pit… they were cold, dry, horrible excuses for fries. At $80 before tip, definitely the worse meal we have had out in 2 months. As an aside - I had no fault with the server. Needless to say, I will never visit this restaurant again. While there are not currently a lot of casual eateries available in the Nanoose/Parksville area, I would prefer a Save-On sandwich to their offerings.

Pacific Shores Resort is a great place to stay. We could only stay one night but next time I will plan for a longer stay. The rooms are nice and clean and bright and ours opened out onto a small patio and the lawn and gardens. The king-size bed was very comfortable and the place was tranquil at night. I really enjoyed the outdoor hot tub in the morning and they supply you with large fluffy towels and bath robes. The dining room and lounge do not open until the end of March but you get a beautiful ocean view from there. We enjoyed the ocean trails around the property and the beaches are beautiful, I will have to come back in the summer and go for a swim. We dined at the Rocking Horse Pud about 2 km. away and they have very good food, beer, and service.

We stayed here for a girls weekend. This place has an area that is a hotel and the rest are all owned individually. We called a head and found out we could arrive early and use the pool, hot tubs and the beach access, all we had to do was get a key from the front desk. On arrival the guy had no problem getting us set up to use the pool areas. He mentioned to come back at noon and see if our room is ready. They offered us towels and off we went. The is a locker room and showers you just need to remember a lock if you would like to lock your stuff up you will need to bring your own lock. It has a nice warm but not overly hot sauna, ok size indoor hot tub and a good size pool. How this was over May Long Weekend it was full of kids and the space really echoed. It would have been nice if there was adult only time, even if it was later or only for an hour. There is also an outdoor hot tub and a small kids pool together. Kids playground closeby. There was a well equipped gym and a game room that offered air hockey and ping pong. At noon they checked us into our room. The room was small and basic, the terrace was pathetic. After talking to an owner the hotel has a different set up. So the rooms are xxxxA or xxxxB.So rooms that end with "A" have a kitchenette, living space, bed and bathroom. Rooms that end with "B" can be adjoined, but only have a bed, love seat (sofa bed) and bathroom with a small fridge and Microwave. They were not well insulated. You could hear everyone above you and everyone nice door. There was also no AC and it was very hot. There was a fan but it did not do enough. the lobby is big and offers coffee, lots of sitting spaces, They even had a section for gaming that had a playstation and TV. The property was large, they offer activities such as paddle boarding, kayaking, pickle ball and boccie ball, etc. The one thing that would have been nice would have been lounge chairs somewhere on the property. There is an on site restaurant that only offers lunch & dinner. If you did want to cook your own meal there was some outdoor grilling areas.

While the rooms are a bit dated, they surprisingly spacious and very well equipped. Getting WIFI hooked up was a bit of a trial and could be simplified. The staff could use a lesson in bed--making. But these are details that are soon rectified. A lovely setting in a great location

Wonderful location but poor management and it shows. The manager when asked to deal with complaints does not return messages or address concerns. There are many nice places in this area of Vancouver Island so choose a better place if you wish to nice vaction.

I used to always stay at Pacific Shores Creekside Suites in a studio room once year for a couple of days getaway. I stopped staying there because of the Pickle Ball courts installed right outside the entryway doors to the Creekside Suites. Before the Pickle Ball courts, it was quiet and enjoyable, I even toyed with the idea of owning a suite - it was so relaxing and just enjoyable. My last stay there involved having to listen for hours to the kerpuck, kerpuck, kerpuck, kerpuck, kerpuck... coming from the courts. What a horrible noise if you are trying to relax or paint or read. That ruined it for me. Too bad, I really, really liked it there.

Dear Avac627, We’re sorry to hear your experience. The creek side suites are no longer part of pacific shores resort. It’s sold to private owners and you must have stayed in one of the owner’s suit through Airbnb or VRBO. Unfortunately it is out of our control to rectify the situation. The resort side suites are now the building next to the Resort Centre where the indoor pool is located. We hope you could book with us directly or there are several other buildings that are away from pickle ball court. Hope that helps. Sincerely, Guest Services

We love this place. The setting and grounds are beautiful and the rooms comfortable. A bit warm this last visit but we knew the rooms were not air con and the property forewarned us when they sent out a reservation reminder. Staff are always friendly and everything is so well maintained! Our compliments to all!!

This resort gave us a room directly above an active construction site. I’ve attached a photo of our “garden view.” You could hear the construction machines humming loudly nonstop from 10am until 7pm. Forget sleeping in or having a nap during the day. It was also impossible to enjoy the patio or watch tv with the constant loud rumbling in the background. When we asked the front desk if we could change rooms they told us there were no rooms available in the entire resort. That was a possibility but I found that hard to believe when the parking lot was over half empty. When my boyfriend asked for compensation instead, they offered an $80 discount initially. When I made a complaint, reception contacted the general manager and they were nice enough to compensate for 1/2 of the nights we spent there. They offered us early checkout as well. Definitely would have taken this offer but there was no nearby hotel availability for 1 night only so we were stuck. When I told the front desk that I would be writing a review on this resort, she replied “well you can write in your review that you were notified via email and there has been a prompt on the site for 3 months notifying you about the construction.” The prompt on the site says exactly “please be advised that our pool, hot tub, and change room facilities will be closed for renovation from sept 15 until oct 15. We apologize for any inconvenience this disruption may have on your travel plans and or your stay with us.” The email was written along the same lines. This implies they apologize that the pool area is not available. There’s a distinct difference between “the pool is under construction” and “your room will be situated next to an active construction site.” The front desk seemed to completely lack empathy for the situation. They also offered no housekeeping services during our stay because of “covid”. It felt like an excuse to cut costs since other hotels have no issue providing housekeeping services to guests during the pandemic. Additionally, the facility was very dated. The bed was uncomfortable. We could feel the springs in the mattress and the pillows were lumpy. We were in a newly renovated room (717A) but they had filled it with all the old furniture. Normally I wouldn’t bother to complain about something so small, however it was just another negative addition to the entire experience. The main concern was that they did not seem to value customer satisfaction That section of the resort should have been closed during construction. The experience was disappointing because my boyfriend had fond memories of this resort as a child. I would recommend going to any of the other nearby resorts instead if you are travelling to this area.

Dear Guest, Thank you for staying with us and we appreciate your business ! Apologies for the inconvenience you faced during your stay , yet we did mention the renovation upon check in as well and distributed papers with the check in package explaining the hours of operation. We understand that it affected your vacation , yet we are a new company that took over the resort in June 2021 and are in the process of renovating and renewing the property. Please bare with us while we upgrade the property to better serve you and future guests.
