We'd have never discovered this little gem of a motel had we not brought our passports. We took an impromptu trip along Maine Route 1. While in Rockland, we thought that MAYBE we'd try to go as far as Lubec and then see Campobello Island, so we had taken the passports, just in case. Am I glad we did! There was no room to be found near Lubec that weekend with the commissioning of the USS Augusta and (later we sadly discovered), no restaurants open there either! Lubec? A total disappointment! Thankfully, we checked Tripadvisor while in Rockland and found the Whale Watch Motel on Campobello. We merely had to cross the FDR Bridge with our passports to get there. Ashley was so gracious over the phone and even more kind in person when we arrived. The room was VERY clean and had everything we could want. Lots of island information in the room right at our fingertips! We were grateful to be able to eat at The Porch at Friar's Bay, which turned out to be a wonderful treat as well. Spending two nights at the Campobello Whale Watch turned out to be the highlight of our trip. I recommend it highly!

We stayed here a few days ago in late August, 2022. We had room #8 and it was spotless & had wood (like) floors so no nasty rugs. The entire room was freshly painted, had a comfortable bed, dining table, refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, dishes and a shared balcony area (not seaside though). You can see the room online. I would definitely stay here again. The only reason some might not give 5 stars is that the back decking needs painting though that did not bother me so I stuck with the 5 stars.

Horrible Experience, could have been ok but the manager was a horror. Room was clean and well equipped (except for a nonfunctional coffee maker) but when I woke with the typical series of bed bug bites I did what I should have. I checked out at 8am, (using her method... she said to leave the key inside the room), and I texted her that I was checking out and needed to talk with her f2f about it. When she didn't respond I came back to the motel around 3pm and insisted she come back to talk f2f, because I needed to show her the bites. She immediately said I was lying, and she brought 3 people with her to surround me and yell at me, often more than one person at once, saying things like "Our rooms are clean", (they are, which is not related to an occasional "hitch hiker" bed bug), "it must have been a flea bite", (she hadn't been trained to recognize the pattern of bites), and "you brought it with you" (blaming me? really? First, I came from home, not a previous hotel room, and also, if I brought it from home, then why did I have no previous bites, just the set from the night I spent in their bed?) I didn't ask for my money back for that night and it wasn't offered. I did ask for the next night's back (I prepaid) and haven't heard any response. As I drove away (she came behind me and said "yes, time to go"). I had to insist she find me another place to stay, she said I had to drive to Machias, 40 minutes away, but I found a vacancy sign on the Island and had a delightful experience at an Inn on the Island. It's so far north the cold winter with no room residents will kill any bed bugs, BUT is this the kind of place you want to stay? Not me.

It is my 3rd visit. With a new Admin comes great changes: new floors, clean furniture, good bed, refreshed paint. Loved my 2 days - one night on the Green Jewel of the NB Isles. Missed a couch or larger chair in the room, to relax. No box of tissue. What's sticking is the night's calmness and silence. There are no views of the water, the whales, or the bay. No cable TV, just free movie TV. Room highly recommended!

We slept very well here the one night we were on Campobello. Ashley was very nice and helpful. The room itself (room 8) was clean and freshly painted, and the owner had clearly made efforts to make it welcoming and homey. It’s nothing fancy but a great value for visiting the island.

This motel turned a bad weekend into a great one, the rooms a very clean, big, smelled good, there was everything in the room that we needed even before we knew we needed it, like the picnic basket that was in the room, they also had a screen house to sit in to get away from the mosquitoes, they had a grill better than the one I have at home, 2 fire pits, ladder golf, the people are very nice and accommodating ,I didn't want to leave,Thank you again room #3

I stayed at the Whale Watch hotel June of 2022. The room was comfortable, bed was good, and the furniture was nice (e.g., two chairs and a table, wood nightstand). The decor was what one expects an ocean island or coast (e.g., ceiling trim painted with whales and sailboats). Delightful. Perfect for someone like me who does not live on the island. I will stay here on my next visit to Campobello in 2023.

I stayed at the Whale Watch Motel on Campobello Island NB for 5 days this past July. I was welcomed upon arrival and made to feel immediately at home. Anything I needed was immediately provided upon my request,(cooking utensils, hotplate, or anything I might need that was not already in my room) My room was very clean and comfortable with very minimal noise during my stay. My overall experience was very positive and I would recommend staying at Whale Watch Motel to anyone visiting Campobello Island who's looking for a very affordable, comfortable place to stay!
