Detailed Reviews
Hosts Lynn and George provided a warm welcome; they were helpful, well informed and accommodating. The rooms were quiet, tastefully decorated, each with their own ensuite bathroom and a view of the water. The hot breakfast was varied and tasty. I highly recommend staying at this location and visiting this charming area with a lot of history and beautiful views.

Such a beautiful old home, but even more beautiful are the owners and inn keepers.
Lynn and George make you feel like you are staying with “family”
Clean quiet rooms, delicious home cooking
Whether it’s just an out of town over nighter like we did, or a more extended stay.
We highly recommend you give Rothsay House a go!

We thoroughly enjoyed 3-night stay at Rothesay House Heritage Inn B&B in May.
George and Addie are exceptional hosts. Whether providing guidance regarding daily excursions, sharing information on the area's history or simply sitting down for a chat, it is clear that both George and Addie enjoy time with their guests and go out of their way to make everyone feel comfortable and at home.
Breakfasts were wonderful with Addie's home baking adding a very delicious touch.

Having grown up in the area, I was looking forward to reliving some memories and creating new ones and Lynn and George's gorgeous B&B was almost like coming home to my own house. Both were such wonderful hosts- lots of great chats, many laughs and even a moment with live music from the piano.
Lynn's culinary skills are beyond, only matched with George's flare for service with style.
Each evening ended with a nightcap on the lovely deck overlooking the ocean.
I loved the attention to detail in the rooms: home made quilts, tasteful art, and high end decorating style.
We loved being there, and when we left, if was like we were saying goodbye to new friends.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay with Lynn and George who epitomize the word “hosts”. By far the best B&B we stayed at during our 2 week travels in Newfoundland. The location was perfectly central for exploring the peninsula and beyond, and also offered a beautiful trail you can walk to, just down the road, named Pirates Path. George would be delighted to tell you it’s history as well as share his formidable knowledge of entire area. Lynn’s marvellous taste in decor is evident throughout this historic gem and her talents extend to the kitchen with exquisite breakfasts that will delight you. The bedrooms are spotless, the beds very comfortable and the overall ambience knocks it out of the park.

Our hosts George and Lynn were very hospitable, helpful in so many ways, and made sure our stay was perfect in every way. The room was amazing, the full homemade breakfast was delicious and the outside area deck very comfortable for a relaxing sit. This is the place to stay when your visiting Harbour Grace!

Hosts, George and Lynn, were just so friendly and welcoming from the moment I arrived. The walkway up to the front door was full of lupens and blooms of yellow and mauve - as a gardener myself, I appreciated the view of the entire property, which was lush with flora and fauna unfamiliar to me from Central Canada. Directly across the street was the bay, I came to see the ocean.. The house is beautifully decorated and so cozy, noted was a quiet room for reading stock full of books about Harbour Grace and NFLD's history. My room looked out to the bay, and the ocean wind smelled wonderful. My bathroom was very clean and well maintained, I lacked for nothing. My breakfast was huge; I was offered a wonderful meal with healthy food, yogurt and berries, juice and coffee. (Great cup of joe) then eggs, or an omelet made to my preference. If you like beautiful china and porcelain tea sets, you will need to poke around the dining room. I learned much about the town, where my grandmother was born and raised, it's history and where my family lived - directly across the bay! If you like very early summer mornings, ask George about the sunrise. I was treated to the most incredible ocean view sunrise I have ever seen. See photos to know what I witnessed - spectacular!! I'd recommend this charming B&B and I hope to return soon! Thank you G & L.

Hosts George and Lynn could not have been more friendly and helpful . Both were very informative about the history of the area which made the stay at Rothesay House even more special and interesting. The bedroom we stayed in was so special- decorated with such taste- it felt like the bedroom I had always wished for when I was a girl, complete with bay window seats that look out over the harbour and hills. Lynn's wonderful homemade breakfast capped off a wonderful overnight getaway and I look forward to returning to Rothesay House!

The owners, Lynn and George Butler made me feel I was "at home". My room and this whole establishment were all great for my 3 night stay. The "House" has amazing decorations . It is located near the wharf, on quaint Water Street, in Harbour Grace,Newfoundland and Labrador. It is just across from the harbour , so the boats going to and from the wharf are "the show". It was so nice nice to sit on the front porch watching boats and locals go about their business. I was staying with them for the 3 days ,as I had a family Wedding in nearby Carbonear. The Butlers were great giving me directions where I needed to go, with advice on the best way to get where I was going. . This was my first Bed and Breakfast experience. I would indeed stay with the Butlers in their Bed and Breakfast home again! In fact, I hated to leave. I'll be back.

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely Heritage Inn. It is a beautiful clean home by the harbour, and our hosts George and Lynn were welcoming and friendly.
We thoroughly enjoyed George’s stories and answering our questions about the interesting history of the house and area.
Our breakfast prepared by Lynn of French toast with blueberry maple syrup, homemade muffins and her granola was delicious!
This charming Inn with lovely hosts is situated in an interesting historical area and is in a great location.
