The Lighthouse is not easy to find and not easy to access once you've found its location. However, if your car is not terribly low to the ground you can drive down the steep one-lane road to the lighthouse. Otherwise be prepared to carry your suitcases quite some way. "Think about the scene from "Romancing The Stone" where she's trying... More

This is one of treasure that we just happened to stumble upon while exploring. We walked down this little drive way looking for a beautiful view and we were not disappointed. Then we saw a sign for cafe. Such a great surprise. This will be one of those moments in your life when everything is perfect. The veiw, the food... More

What a wonderful surprise at the end of a day of kayaking! Worth the drive and worth the elk down the hill. Darcy is a dream! Bartender, cook, server and entertainer. What a fun place to relax with new friends!

I ventured down the long, steep rocky pathway to the lighthouse below. Not an easy trek down and an even tougher walk back up. But once I got to the bottom the views of the cliffs and rocky shoreline were worth it! Steep cliffs in the area are hazards so keep this in mind if you have young kids running... More

We stayed at Cape D'or for three nights. Darcy, Garfield , Jack and Maria are brilliant hosts. The location together with the wonderful food in the restaurant combined to make an essential stop on any trip to Nova Scotia.

You go to this place for its location. Getting there is tricky but rewarded with a stunning view and, if you are lucky the most glorious sunset. It is rustic but we stayed overnight and met up with some other travellers. Enjoyed the food and conversation with the staff, plus we got a glorious sunset. Cannot fault the service and... More

Husband and I stayed one night last August 2 nights this August and going for 3 nights next year for 2017. The food is by far the best, and the chowder I vote #1 in Nova Scotia. Simple menu of three entrees but what more do you need when you also get a delicious salad and dessert with whatever entree... More

We read some articles on their web site. Decided to make a day trip out of it. Looked forward to a nice meal looking at the view. NOT TO BE. We watched (and helped) an elderly (80's) lady walking with a cane, walking down a 'VERY STEEP' mountainside path, very rocky, with no hand rails! I have 4x4 SUV, no... More

This is a very rustic, small accommodation in the middle of nowhere in a spectacular location. We had come from New Brunswick, driving along the west coast to Advocate Harbor. Along the way, we stopped at the Joggins Cliffs geological museum, a wonderful place to learn of some of the oldest fossils--before dinosaurs roamed the earth. We stayed there for... More

We were intrigued by the adventure of finding this lighthouse. We enjoyed the walk. Cliff side views were beautiful. The lighthouse itself isn't the most beautiful though, rather boxy. I would love to eat at the restaurant if we visit again.

Thank foemmel
