I just loved this place. wallpapered rooms with big windows, right in the center of town, easy walk to everywhere, large veranda with tables, great restaurant, quiet, great service. This is now my go to place in Baddeck. stayed 3 nights. Over 100 years old. steps.
I mistakenly thought this was a hotel when I booked it, so I blame myself for not looking more carefully. This is a below-average motel with small rooms, no closet space. The staff is very friendly and cooperative; they will provide anything you need, such as extra towels, soap, etc., but this is strictly a no-frills place. It is clean, but a stairway and walkway were just outside our window, so people were walking right by us at all hours. It does have one of the best restaurants we've eaten at in Nova Scotia - The Cable Room; highly recommended,
Stayed here a couple of nights. There are two sections, a "hotel" in the main building and then a "motel" at the top of the hill. Our room was in the motel section. It was nice to park right in front of our room, and it was clean but the decor in the room was dated (floral wallpaper border) and the furnishings were worn. However the bathroom had recently been redone and was sparkling. Room was a bit musty when we checked in, but that cleared once we turned on the AC. No view except of the parking lot. Office staff were courteous, but we barely interacted with them being in another building. Got some great reccomendations for breakfast though (right across the street).
We loved this hotel. Despite or because of its age it provided a period experience. Lots of tips from the wonderful owner. Five generations have owned and managed this hotel. Right in the center of Baddeck. A great base to do the Cabot Trail. Cafes, shops, marina, restaurants, gas, Co-op.
We had a beautiful stay! Our room was very clean and cozy with charming decor. We were spoiled with a fabulous view of the water. Shawn, who greeted us, was so friendly. He took the time to share information about the Cabot Trail and what parts to focus on based on our goals for our visit. A very cool fact is that Shawn is the fifth generation to run Telegraph House and his love for it and the town of Baddeck was very obvious. Telegraph House is located right on the main street, close to shops, restaurants, and other amenities. Fresh coffee every morning in the front lobby was a great way to start our day. We will definitely be returning on our next visit to Cape Breton!
It is the first time I stayed at this location. I loved the ambiance, character and history of the house (a short history is available at check-in). Ideally located in beautiful Baddeck, Nova Scotia, once you arrive, everything is at your door. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a different experience.
The Telegraph House is a great place if you want to explore Cabot Trail. Baddeck is one of the first (or last) stops on the trail so you're at a great place to start or end your adventure. From a smooth check in to an efficient check out, our two nights were worry free. The room was quaint and comfortable and the staff was very helpful.
We spent a night in the motel unit behind the main inn recently. It was clean and very comfortable and we even had a view of the water. We enjoyed morning coffee on the deck. The staff in reception were welcoming and friendly. We highly recommend this accommodation!
This was a great place to stay along the Cabot trail. Was the last on my trip and what a way to end it! Great staff. The restaurant was not open but ate at a Lobster Diner. It was clean and quiet. I had room 8 with two beds. Right in the heart of town so you can park it and grab a drink!! The only criticism I have is the lack of double locking in the room. The only lock was the door knob and not a separate deadbolt or chain. Pretty neat that Alexander Graham Bell stayed there!!
We had two rooms here. One was fine but the other had hair in the bathtub and one of the beds. There were no toiletries in the bathroom. Staff were all very friendly and nice. I would suggest another waste basket in the room as well as a mirror so that they can be used if someone else is in the bathroom. Location is good
