Beautiful location and view of the lake however the room left a lot to be desired. Most of the furniture was somewhat up-to-date but the bathroom is very dated and dimly lit. The carpet was stained, worn and very unappealing. The paint was old and chipped as were the windows and doors to the balcony. There was a very musty smell in the room which required all windows to be kept open. We were also told that due to Covid restrictions they would not come in to make up our room but as far as we can tell there are no moe restrictions.
The Silver Dart sits on a hill overlooking the Bras d'or Lake. It is a beautiful location with a stunning view. We have stayed there on several occasions. The Chalets are on the top of the hill, with picnic tables and a large lawn available for kids, cats and dogs. The Chalets are comfortable, spacious, clean and for us the best of all is they allow pets. Our 18 year old cat always enjoys the stay. Highly recommend.
Stayed at the East lodge first floor. Dated, for sure. Clean, yes. Damp, very! A/C doesn’t really help and very loud. Found couple crawling friends in bathroom thankfully I was first one in, not one of my kids. GM called to apologize and offered to have maintenance look the room over, which I said yes to. Pool was a nice added bonus if you will use it. I did not eat at the restaurant. They charge a resort rate for an average motel stay. I regret passing on the Inverary resort - the rate was higher but it includes breakfast. Here the buffet is $17/pp though I’m not able to speak to quality of good.
First the Good Things: Hotel is friendily staffed. they are knowledgeable. Restaurant is competent and pleasant to sit in. Wifi is fine . View is sensational. Lots of elbow room. A pleasant enough place to stay for a week overall. Housekeeping is quite helpful. However, there are undisclosed issues with the 2BR suite of which you should be aware before booking. Note that this is the priciest room in the entire resort. first off, we had been booking this room for a couple of years, disrupted by Covid and US and Canada entry rules for 2 years before finally making the vacation. When we got to the resort to check in, we were told for the very first time that the 2BR suite was a 3rd floor walk-up, with 2 double plus one single flights of stairs to get there. My wife and I are both 70+ so this was a horrid last minute surprise. further, there was no offer to help with luggage. We had a week's worth of luggage, complicated by the fact that the weather forecast had (incorrectly) suggested both hot weather and cool weather clothing. We had to lug all the suitcases up ourselves. When we got up to the suite, the temperature in the suite was about 80 degrees. After figuring it out, we saw that there were 3 single room A/C units in the suite which has 6 smallish rooms, plus hallways, plus a double staircase inside the suite's interior. Only one of the 3 A/C units was on, set on "economy". It took 3 days at full wattage to cool the suite down to 72 degrees. There were 3 tv's, but only 1 worked. To the resort's credit a man came up to fix them immediately, and we got to 2 working units. The 3rd tv never worked the entire week even though the only problem was in programming the remote! The refrigerator is VERY rusted on the inside, especially the back: sort of gross. The rug was stained, and there were tears in the wallpaper. The soap in the single bathroom is Budget 6 sized (we stayed at a Hampton Inn our last night due to plane timing and that had soap about 6 times the size of that at the resort). All this made for quite a bad first impression!! Over the week, the wear on us from the stairs was unpleasant at our age and condition. In retrospect, with a little transparency from the resort on the deficits of the suite, we probably would have still booked at Silver Dart but both sides of one of the chalets instead, so I am providing that transparency to future renters.…
The Silver Dart is part motel and part lodge. We stayed in a motel room with a view of the lake. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom and sink were separated, which made usage easier. We are at the restaurant and found the food to be tasty and well priced. The restaurant was busy the night we stayed and our entrees were free due to what management felt was an unacceptable wait. We made no complaints about the wait. To us, this is a sign of a well run business. I would recommend this as a stop if you are visiting the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island.
The Silver Dart Lodge is an older lodge/motel type of facility. It overlooks a beautiful lake. Has rooms in adjacent buildings where you can drive your car up to and park in front of your room. Many of the room s have balconies that overlook the lake. Very clean and well-maintained. Not fancy just very straightforward and satisfying. It has a very good restaurant and bar on site. If it's nice weather, sit out on the patio and have a drink. We had an issue with our room but Debbie took care of us and made things right. Debbie was very responsive and courteous. Two thumbs up for Debbie.
One of the cleanest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in; the rooms here are well equipped and the beds are comfortable. Our room had an amazing view and the property is great. The staff was helpful and friendly. The rooms are older so there are some signs of wear and tear, but overall it is in good condition.
The hotel is located in the town of Baddeck which was a convenient and very pretty stopover location for us on our way to the Cabot Trail. While the hotel is a bit dated in some regards, with the rooms showing a few signs of aging, it was overall very clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant has a lovely view of the water and the food was good. Overall we were satisfied with our visit and would likely stay again in the future.
Stayed 2 nights at this place and really enjoyed it. We had a room in one of the blocks looking over to the water. The room was spacious with a nice deck to sit on. The bed was amazing… we didn’t want to get up in the morning as it was so comfortable. My husband described it as like sleeping on a cloud. We didn’t eat here as we chose to eat in town but the place is very well maintained and clean and the staff are most helpful. We had trouble with the keys (couldn’t get into the room after they were reset 3 times) and they sent a maintenance man to fix the problem. All the staff were extremely helpful. Would definitely stay there again,
We stayed here while on a tour of the Canadian Maritimes. Our room overlooked Bras d'Or Lake and we could lay in bed in the cozy bathrobes provided by the lodge and enjoy the view. There was a porch with chairs to sit on to enjoy the views in warmer weather. Our room had an eastern king bed (huge!) which was very comfortable. The lodge restaurant also had a lake view and the food and service were excellent. Staff overall was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
