We stayed here in order to visit the Cabot Trail. I wish I would have booked two nights. This is a cute cute cute little motel. The rooms were super clean and tastefully decorated. The view of the water is breathtaking after a very short walk to the beach. The owner, Vince was managing on his own, and he had a fabulous sense of humour. The grounds are very clean and the restaurant next door made this a good choice for dinner. We'd stay here again.
Staff friendly and helpful. Lovely place right by the water with low windows and seating to make most of the view from the room. Plenty of tea and coffee. Parts of the room were a bit dusty and there was a slight smell of damp but we were there late may before the season got going.
My husband and I had the privilege of staying here in early October and will definitely remember them if we need to stay in the area again! Neat and clean rooms with a view that you would pay big bucks for anywhere else! The owners are a rare breed…kind and extremely helpful! Anything you could ask for they tried to accommodate!
I was pleased to meet the couple who own it, very sweet people even though I didn't get to stay there cause I fudged up my booking, I accidentally booked on the wrong weekend ( second time I've done this grrr on me lol) But they made sure we knew all the good places to go along our trip and sent us to a place to stay cause they had no rooms available at the time. Can't wait to go back and actually stay there this time. and such a beautiful location.
Pros: Location is so beautiful, room was VERY clean & lots of amenities (fridge, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, wine glasses & cork screw, bistro table & chairs.} Water view was awesome. Owners nice & made themselves available by text or phone. Reasonably priced. Bonfire by request. Cons: Room had slight musty smell as older carpeted places do but also very heavily scented linens & towels made for an unpleasant mix. Every window was open when we arrived and it still was strong. Those with scent sensitivities/allergies should inquire about requesting scent free linens. Our smoke alarm went of at 3am for no apparent reason other than possible moisture. Very unsettling. All concerns were expressed to owner in the morning & met with appreciation for feedback.
Beautiful view from your room and very nice owner. It is an older motel but well kept and very comfortable. There is a Restaurant next door which is serviceable, they even serve whole fresh lobster. Great place to start your adventure around Cabot Cove Trail. I would definitely stay again. My little four legged friend did not want to leave.
We knew that this was a motel on route to the Newfoundland ferry, but what we found was a fun experience! Owners greeted us, and checked the room before checking us in. With all of the Covid impacts, we weren’t sure what to expect. It’s a quaint motel from a few years past, but it’s well maintained and clean. The room included a refrigerator, microwave and coffee basics. The location is what sold us. We watched the sunset over the water, where every room is seaside. Windows open let us hear the world outside as the tide changes. You can hear the road traffic, but it is a roadside motel so you should expect a bit of that. There isn’t air conditioning, but normally I’d say it’d not be required here. But with a limited number of rooms, you’re not dealing with a large number of travellers (a plus!) Yes, we’d stay again.…
The hospitality was second to none! Nice clean rooms. Comfortable bed. Very nice view. We will definitely be going back. Perfect location at the start of the Cabot trail. Biker friendly as well. Highly recommended!
We wanted somewhere to stay after driving from Sydney after our ferry trip back from Newfoundland. This was perfect. It is a very quaint motel. I sent an email to inquire about a reservation as they don't make them online and within a few hours received a call from the owner. He was very nice and I enjoyed speaking with him. He was the one that checked us in months later when we had our trip. We stayed in room 6. IT had two twins. The sheets were blue and the towels striped and it felt like we were staying to our grandparents which was just fine. The view of the lake behind us was beautiful and the sunset was awesome. The owner gave us a recommendation for our dinner and he was correct! It's not the Four Seasons so if you are looking for that then dont stay here, If you want a perfect location at the very beginning of Cabot Trail than this is the place for you And it was VERY clean and did not smell at all. It smelled clean and fresh!!!!…
Good place to stay when traveling the Cabot Trail. The rooms are a little dated, but very nice, very clean, and comfortable. It is perfectly located at the beginning, or end or the trail, depending on which way you are going, and the view is just incredible! Doug & his wife are very friendly and accommodating. The Lobster Gallery restaurant next door is very convenient and very good too!
