Even though the weather had closed down on us, Oakwood Manor lifted our spirits. On arrival we were offered tea and shown into the farm's lounge which had a spectacular hexagonal cedar ceiling and windows overlooking a large orchard with trees that are at least...More
This is truly a wonderful bed and breakfast to stay several nights. It's a little remote, but still close to Meat Cove, Pleasant Bay, Ingonnish and the Cabot Trail. The McEvoy's are wonderful hosts and have a lovely home. Our room was beautfiul and the...More
It's a little off the beaten path but worth the effort. We had mountain views out of our window. Very clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast with eggs cooked any way you want, bacon, cereal, toast tea or coffee. Our host was very knowledgeable on the...More

We stayed here last July and it was a beautiful home in a beautiful area. Finding dinner was our only problem. We were told there were a number of places within 5-10 minutes. Every one of them was closed, some for the day (only lunch hours) and some were just shut down completely. We went to a nearby "resort" that had a restaurant, the dining room was all but empty (maybe 5 customers) but they were extremely rude to us because we didn't make a reservation. We left. We ended up having to eat dinner at the local gas station that had a food fryer, not awful but not what we wanted or expected. I would suggest bringing sandwiches or something with you to eat for dinner before you get into the area.
