Detailed Reviews
After traveling from Ixtapa, MX, to Lazaro Cardenas, La Casa Blanca Hotel was a welcome sight in the heat of the day to escape the common industrial traffic in this industrial city. We were happy to take a double bedroom on the 6th floor as the hotel acknowledged our reservations.
La Casa Blanca Hotel was very close to our destination of visiting friends and family in the area, so the super chilly room was simply delicious to sink into. I enjoyed the tub-like shower with the abundance of warm streams of water reacting well to my shower routine.
Returning from a night out after navigating the darkened streets of Lazaro was easy. The welcoming gates in the back of the hotel parking area ushered us into its safety as we passed not-so-comfortable street life prowling in the area.
The two mornings we spent there were quite friendly as we dined in the front restaurant for the breakfast that came with the room. Simple huevos with chorizo, fried beans, and fruit were well prepared. I was happy to see a large hotel like this was using real eggs and not bland powdered eggs.
Looking back to our stay, I will be happy to stay there again in the near future.

Lazaro Cardenas is a small industrial city - this hotel is fine if you are not expecting luxury. Best parts are the restaurants and the overall price. Room was basic but OK. Overall the two night stay was good.

The hotel was above average for the area we were in. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially considering most of us didn't speak Spanish. The restaurant located near the lobby was very good. The rooms were on the small side but comfortable. The air conditioning worked which was very important! I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel Casablanca is rated officially as a 4* but more closely resembles a 2*.
Pros: car park, free WiFi, decent pool, games room with pool table and futbolito, decent food in restaurant, pleasant lobby area. Price was pretty low.
Cons: Rooms quite basic, in need of updating. Ours (1st floor) had access to a dirty communal balcony. Area around hotel quite unpleasant (poorly lit, bad sewer smells, direlict sites), though much of Lazaro Cardenas seems to be like this.
We stayed here as we needed a convenient short overnight stop. It was adequate for this.

Sorry for the inconveniences you had to experience. Right now we're under a program of full renovation, indeed it needed to be modernised and that is our goal right now. If you ever visit LƔzaro CƔrdenas again, we kindly ask you to give us a second chance.

I recently stayed here for 3 nights while on business - after the third night I elected to move for reasons I'll go into later, but first the good stuff. staff are very helpful and polite, but almost none of them speak any English, so be prepared with your phrase books if you don't speak any Spanish. There are 2 restaurants at the hotel, one basic cafeteria style restaurant at the back (named the "Blue Parrot"), and another steak house style at the front. The steaks there are awesome! They're cooked on a barbecue right there at the front and served still sizzling on your plate, so even if you don't stay at this hotel I would definitely recommend you eat there at least once. prices for the rooms are great if you're on a budget...
Now the not so good stuff - rooms are basic, and as a previous reviewer said, in need of updating - in fact at the moment the hotel seems to be making moves toward this as the room next to mine was being renovated while i was there. There are 2 elevators, but one of these was out of order and being worked on the whole time I was there, and the other had a nasty habit of getting stuck on the odd occasion, so I always took the stairs.
Parking at the hotel is frankly atrocious, with a tiny underground secure lot that can hold maybe a dozen vehicles, and an area at the back near the pool that can hold about the same. The streets around the hotel are very narrow, so take care with driving there - again as the previous reviewer said, the area is very tatty looking around the hotel, derelict sites, sewer smells etc, but I can't say I felt unsafe there during the day - there's a big street market very close which is interesting to wander around
Finally there's the noise - the reason I ended up moving after only 3 nights of my 2 week stay in Lazaro Cardenas was that I was entertained by the beat of the local nightclub right next door to the hotel until 4 in the morning - then we had the dawn chorus of barking dogs and crowing roosters in the morning as well, so if you do stay here, pack earplugs!
Overall: a great restaurant, and hotel worth a look see if you don't mind the noise and are on a budget - but if it's peace and quiet you're after at night , you'll not get much of it here

Dear guest, Sorry for all the inconveniences you had to struggle during your stay. We can assure you -the next door discotheque/bar- is gone for good. Also, we have upgraded our parking to a much bigger one, nearly 100 parking lots available now. We're also glad you enjoyed our restaurants (we've recently added a new italian one). During the past year the hotel has been under a great renovation program. So, if by any chance you visit LƔzaro CƔrdenas again, we'll be pleased to have a second opportunity as your hosts. Thank you, Hotel de Casablanca, LC.

+1
Nice hotel with friendy, helpful staff. My room was a bit small but with a big bed and was fine for my 3 night stay (union). Tv with limited but some English speaking channels, shower had good pressure and air con worked well. Food good and priced ok. Would return.

If you are looking for a real Mexican experience, this is the hotel for you. It is very clean & comfortable recently renovated. It is airconditioned & has cable TV. No one speaks English, so be prepared. The price is moderate & the restaurant serves good food (safe for Americanos). There is a disco next door, so get a room on the back side. I have stayed here twice & was more than pleased!! Karen

Stayed here quite a few times when working down at the port. Rooms were very nice, food was top notch (in all 3 restaurants) and the staff were a delight. Special mention has to go to Charlie in the Suite Bar. He went beyond the call of duty and looked after me when I'd been overserved with Tequila. The look on the receptionists faces when a wobbly drunk Scotsman weaved past was amusing. I wouldnt stay anywhere else. Thanks guys.

My family and I vacation in Lazaro in August for 4 days and 3 nights. The room was clean, but it did have a meadow smell. This could have been due to the weather with high humidity. The best part of staying at this hotel was the breakfast buffet, which is included by staying the night. The food was great.

Everything here was pleasant enough for a 2 night business stay. Ongoing renovations are further improving the hotel. Nice pool and pool area. Helpful staff. Nice room. Great shower! (Wow -water pressure like this in Mexico!) The parillada (steak) restaurant in the hotel is very good! But breakfast is ordinary.
