We were so pleased with our stay at Hotel Casa Encantada. The staff, was friendly and went out of their way to see that we had an excellent stay. There recommendations on restaurants were right on. Recommendations of a guide, and driver were excellent!
We stayed at Casa Encantada in March. A perfect two-night stay. It's a half block from the main plaza which is a wonderful place to sit and watch the local world go by in the late afternoon and early evening. Victoria, the owner, is daily...More

Hi I do have availability for your dates. Dec 12th is the Feast Day of the Virgen of Guadalupe! Patzcuaro is always a great place to come visit. My prices run $57 for the "Nest" to $90 for a room with a kitchenette or a 2 room suite. The rooms with fireplaces run $85. This price includes WiFi, a full Traditional Mexican breakfast of fruit, juice, Pan Dulce, eggs, beans & potatoes. I would highly recommend a tour on your first day with Jaime of Animecha Tours... you can google him. And also I would recommend a massage by Ulises. He is amazing and his prices cannot be beat $23 for an hour to $41 for 3 hours. I am giving the prices in dollars only so it is easier to understand. I prefer Peso equivalent, but also accept Dollars. Your concern about safety is because of the press. Driving from the coast is easy. The highway (toll road) is fast and I have not heard of problems. People drive it every day. The bus is also easy. One leaves in the morning and arrives in Uruapan around 11 Am and we can send a taxi for you. It is another 40 minutes to Patzcuaro. Finally I can send a taxi to Ixtapa for about $250 US door to door. Please got to my web page so you can see the rooms and we can move to a reservation. THANKS for you interest, Victoria Ryan
