Not much needs to be said. In short, one of the best boutique hotels my wife and I have stayed at, and most definitely the no. 1 hotel Pátzcuaro. Not only the place -a colonial house- is magnificent, but also Didier and Gema add a very special element to the whole experience. Would recommend every time.

Although the owners and personable enough, the "hotel" lacks the anonymity of a hotel, with the ability to come and go as your please, eat breakfast when you choose, etc. it was very much like staying in someone's home, and we didn't have the feeling that they were overly keen on having "guests". If you like a quirky B&B atmosphere,...

I'm a travel writer, and I've stayed at magnificent hotels all over the world. But my favorite hotel is Casa de la Real Aduana, because it has not only taste but soul. Staying there is an experience that enlightens you--it engages your senses, your aesthetic sensibilities, your appreciation for all that humans can do to create beauty. The hotel is...

We stayed here for 2 nights and it was a fantastic experience. The house is a real gem, superbly filled with ceramics, drawings, photos, etc. Didier and Gemma are the real thing. They are very nice and keen to share their knowledge and experience with their guests. It was a pleasure talking to them. We really recommend this place, located...

The Casa de la Real Aduana was the perfect place to spend several fabulous days visiting the Patzquaro region. The hotel is very well located minutes from the central square and restaurants, shops and churches. The property is historic and has been designed and decorated to reflect both the history and the artistic tradition of the region. The room we...

To stay here is a transforming experience. All five rooms are a work of art filled with ceramics, drawings, photos, lithographs, textiles, masks etc from the region and literally all over the world. The collection is so well put together and so armonious the pieces belong together even if one is from Canada and the next one from Michoacan. The patio has...

We stayed here for 1 night but wished it could have been longer. Didier is a true Renaissance man and is willing to share his knowledge and enthusiasm for a wide range of disparate interests. His many collections range from corkscrews to balance beams through to hi-fi equipment. There are only 5 rooms but each one is unique and contains...

I've stayed at the Casa de la Real Aduana twice, most recently for Dia de los Muertos 2014. Patzcuaro is a beautiful town, but this small hotel is a destination on its own. I've travelled extensively and can honestly say this is my favorite hotel not only in Mexico, but anywhere in the world. Didier and Gemma are fabulous, caring...

Splendid boutique hotel in the heart of Patzcuaro, close to all the shops, cafes, and central square. Didier and Gemma are wonderful hosts. Each room in the hotel is unique and spectacular. Hope to return every year.
