I know prices go up but the same bungalow I paid $39.00 for went to $99.00 just a few years back and now are $169.00……plus tax. Jeez………….Not even a free breakfast. Just continental. You think the management could throw in a couple of eggs. I now pay $136.00 at ABR and it includes all food and and all drink.

We were in one of the remodeled rooms. They did a great job - bed was super comfortable and all the tile & bathroom fixtures were redone. There is new nonslip tile throughout the hallways & outside areas - big improvement. Service at the front desk was outstanding as usual, especially from Jorge. Housekeeping was exceptional. We noticed that most...

This trip was my third time to Akumal since April 2013. First a day snorkeling trip, then a family trip where we stayed in a super hotel about a half mile away and this trip with friends to finish my scuba diving certification requirements. Our room was on the second floor overlooking the pool and with a view to the...

I spent three nights in this hotel, in a room on the top floor with a great view of the ocean and two private balconies. The location is perfect, the rooms are very clean and simple. The room had everything I needed - a refrigerator, 5-gallon bottle of water, lots of towels, and working A/C - and what it didn't...

Excellent location right on the beach. Accommodation is a rip off for what you get. We stayed in the bungalows and they are v noisy and very uncomfortable beds. The bar food is nice but v westernised and double the price of playa del carmen. The restaurants food is lovely and staff are helpful but it closes at 9. We...

We have been going to Riviera Maya, first as a couple then as a family, for almost 20 years...Akumal has always been our favorite stop. The locals are friendly and very honest, you can stay on one of the worlds most beautiful beaches for a reasonable price, incredible snorkeling, very good reefs, and if you like to see turtles this...

As owner of the property, it is very sad for me to read this review. It has been in the family since the early 60s and my father first visited Akumal, a coconut plantation with one family living here in 1959. I grew up in Akumal and to see mass tourism arriving on the beach is very distressing. Since the...

We stayed 5 nights in a bungalow last month with our 2 children (5 and 3) and had a wonderful time at Hotel Akumal Caribe. After a stressful arrival ( Easy way rental car did not turn up at airport and after waiting 90 mins had to pay $150 for a taxi to the hotel:() it was a relief to...

We just enjoyed 4 days at the hotel, staying in one of the bungalows. We were so happy with the experience that we already have inquired about staying in the same room again next year. We thought that the bungalow was plenty large enough for the two of us, and while basic, it did include a frig, coffee maker, small...

If youre in Akumal your there for the beach and the enviroment. Not necessarily a 5 star Hotel/Resort. The bungalows were perfect accomodations if you do not need to be pampered. Very clean, all necessary basic amenities were on site and available. Check in was really cool all very low pressure, help with the bags in the form of a...
