the bus stopped right in front, the music was playing, I was given a ground floor room, later after renting a bike at the ruins, I rode around the village. The manager at the hotel gave me some free food, and I sat with some of the locals to practice my weak spanish, much patience on their part. Its a...

No hot water, no towels, no soap, broken celiling fan, filthy and a barking dog chained up outside our window all night long. Could not find any staff to deal with the dog or ask for a towel. We arrived after dusk so did not notice that there are two much better seeming places across the street. Lonley Planet needs...

We arrived in Coba in the afternoon planning to stay the night so as to visit the ruins as soon as they opened. I looked at this place as it was mentioned in LP but rejected it: rooms were as basic as they get, smelly and generally unpleasant as were the surroundings and the owner. The room was dirty with no hot water but we did pay for it. Also there is no staff at all. The biggest RIP-OFF in the area. We felt very insecure there as all our stuff was in the room while we went to visit the ruins but no one was taking care of the place.

The ceiling fan was not up to the task of drowning out late night barking dogs. I didn't see any evidence of dirtiness and enjoyed the hot water, but if I return to Coba, I will stay at the "Hotelito Sac-Be" across the street.

At the centre of the village. Staff and food good enough. Rooms very dingy. Dont try it unless the $12 room rate is important to you.
