We booked a cruise day here and are so glad we did! Our most relaxing day of our trip! The beach was beautiful, I crowded and quiet! We even took a walk and never saw another person. Lunch was great and the margaritas were excellent....More

Location, Location, Location. This eco-driven hotel has all the amenities but none of the glitz of the better known Playas. Miles of beautiful beach. Few people. Many tropical birds. Bonefishing in your front yard. Al fresco dining.
We had a day excursion to Almaplena and were delighted with the experience. We walked for a mile on the beautiful white beach in either direction for a mile with almost no one in sight. Staff was a little light (some self service and some...More

Know that you have to bring the remaining balance in cash, exact amount would be appreciated. Getting out of the port area and finding the cab stand was a little tricky but basically you get out of the part go straight down the main road and the taxi stand is on your right. Resort's email will include a map but we still had issues. The drive from the port to the resort was between 20-30 minutes. you will feel like you are going to the ends of the earth, which you are but it is beautiful once you get there. if you have snorkel gear bring it as there is a reef some 200 feet from the shore. Everyone we came in contact with was very nice and friendly. This was one of our top day trips as it was so peaceful especially compared to the day before at Playa Mia Grand Beach Park which was enjoyable but in a very different way. Enjoy.

To get there the most easy is take a car or taxi in Chetumal, Almaplena isn't near to the downtown, and it is OK.
