We communicated over WhatsApp with the hotel to reserve the room.
Neither were we informed that payment by credit card is being charged with a premium (no ATM in the surroundings for ca 30minutes drive) nor, more importantly, that there are two roads on which...More
Our first impression at the beach was a big disappointment as the seaweed had covered a lot of the beach and it had brought trash too. The manager was supportive with this incident and helped us look for options to spend the day in Mahahual....More
Almaplena is just an amazing place to stop and take a break. The staff and management of the hotel were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was brilliant.

If I had to come up with a concept for a hotel, Almaplena it would be. It is in a very secluded part of the Costa Maya. one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in. The Italian owners have created something really special and...More

book on their website. They will email you with information and deposit required. Everything from the cab ride to and from, food drinks, lounger are all included. Know that you have to bring the remaining balance in cash, exact amount would be appreciated. Getting out of the port area and finding the cab stand was a little tricky but basically you get out of the part go straight down the main road and the taxi stand is on your right. Resort's email will include a map but we still had issues. The drive from the port to the resort was between 20-30 minutes. you will feel like you are going to the ends of the earth, which you are but it is beautiful once you get there. if you have snorkel gear bring it as there is a reef some 200 feet from the shore. Everyone we came in contact with was very nice and friendly. This was one of our top day trips as it was so peaceful especially compared to the day before at Playa Mia Grand Beach Park which was enjoyable but in a very different way. Enjoy.
